1Caritas fraternitatis maneat in vobis,May fraternal charity remain in you.
2et hospitalitatem nolite oblivisci:And do not be willing to forget hospitality.per hanc enim latuerunt quidam,For by it, certain persons, without realizing it,angelis hospitio receptis.have received Angels as guests.
3Mementote vinctorum,Remember those who are prisoners,tamquam simul vincti:just as if you were imprisoned with them,et laborantium,and those who endure hardships,tamquam et ipsi in corpore morantes.just as if you were in their place.
4Honorabile connubium in omnibus,May marriage be honorable in every way,et thorus immaculatus.and may the marriage bed be immaculate.Fornicatores enim,For God will judge fornicatorset adulteros judicabit Deus.and adulterers.
5Sint mores sine avaritia,Let your behavior be without avarice;contenti præsentibus:be content with what you are offered.ipse enim dixit:For he himself has said,Non te deseram,“I will not abandon you,neque derelinquam:and I will not neglect you.”
6ita ut confidenter dicamus:So then, we may confidently say,Dominus mihi adjutor:“The Lord is my helper.non timebo quid faciat mihi homo.I will not fear what man can do to me.”
7Mementote præpositorum vestrorum,Remember your leaders,qui vobis locuti sunt verbum Dei:who have spoken the Word of God to you,quorum intuentes exitum conversationis,whose faith you imitate,imitamini fidem.by observing the goal of their way of life:
8Jesus Christus heri,Jesus Christ,et hodie:yesterday and today;ipse et in sæcula.Jesus Christ forever.
9Doctrinis variis et peregrinis nolite abduci.Do not be led away by changing or strange doctrines.Optimum est enim gratia stabilire cor,And it is best for the heart to be sustained by grace,non escis:not by foods.quæ non profuerunt ambulantibus in eis.For the latter have not been as useful to those who walked by them.
10Habemus altare,We have an altar:de quo edere non habent potestatem, qui tabernaculo deserviunt.those who serve in the tabernacle have no authority to eat from it.
11Quorum enim animalium infertur sanguis pro peccato in Sancta per pontificem,For the bodies of those animals whose blood is carried into the Holy of holies by the high priest,horum corpora cremantur extra castra.on behalf of sin, are burned outside the camp.
12Propter quod et Jesus,Because of this, Jesus, too,ut sanctificaret per suum sanguinem populum,in order to sanctify the people by his own blood,extra portam passus est.suffered outside the gate.
13Exeamus igitur ad eum extra castra,And so, let us go forth to him,improperium ejus portantes.outside the camp, bearing his reproach.
14Non enim habemus hic manentem civitatem,For in this place, we have no everlasting city; instead,sed futuram inquirimus.we seek one in the future.
15Per ipsum ergo offeramus hostiam laudis semper Deo,Therefore, through him, let us offer the sacrifice of continual praise to God,id est, fructum labiorum confitentium nomini ejus.which is the fruit of lips confessing his name.
16Beneficentiæ autem et communionis nolite oblivisci:But do not be willing to forget good works and fellowship.talibus enim hostiis promeretur Deus.For God is deserving of such sacrifices.
17Obedite præpositis vestris, et subjacete eis.Obey your leaders and be subject to them.Ipsi enim pervigilant quasi rationem pro animabus vestris reddituri,For they watch over you, as if to render an account of your souls. So then,ut cum gaudio hoc faciant,may they do this with joy,et non gementes:and not with grief.hoc enim non expedit vobis.Otherwise, it would not be as helpful to you.
18Orate pro nobis:Pray for us.confidimus enim quia bonam conscientiam habemus in omnibus bene volentes conversari.For we trust that we have a good conscience, being willing to conduct ourselves well in all things.
19Amplius autem deprecor vos hoc facere,And I beg you, all the more, to do this,quo celerius restituar vobis.so that I may be quickly returned to you.
20Deus autem pacis,Then may the God of peace,qui eduxit de mortuis pastorem magnum ovium,who led back from the dead that great Pastor of sheep,in sanguine testamenti æterni,our Lord Jesus Christ,Dominum nostrum Jesum Christum,with the blood of the eternal testament,
21aptet vos in omni bono,equip you with all goodness,ut faciatis ejus voluntatem:so that you may do his will.faciens in vobis quod placeat coram se per Jesum Christum:May he accomplish in you whatever is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ,cui est gloria in sæcula sæculorum.to whom is glory forever and ever.Amen.Amen.
22Rogo autem vos fratres,And I beg you, brothers,ut sufferatis verbum solatii.that you may permit this word of consolation,Etenim perpaucis scripsi vobis.especially since I have written to you with few words.
23Cognoscite fratrem nostrum Timotheum dimissum:Know that our brother Timothy has been set free.cum quo (si celerius venerit) videbo vos.If he arrives soon, then I will see you with him.
24Salutate omnes præpositos vestros,Greet all your leaderset omnes sanctos.and all the saints.Salutant vos de Italia fratres.The brothers from Italy greet you.
