De cetero fratres,Concerning other things, orate pro nobis ut sermo Dei currat, brothers,et clarificetur, pray for us,sicutso that the Word of God may advance and be glorified,et apud vos:just as it is among you,

et ut liberemur ab importunis, and so that we may be freed from pertinaciouset malis hominibus:and evil men.non enim omnium est fides. For not everyone is faithful.

Fidelis autem Deus est,But God is faithful.qui confirmabit vos,He will strengthen you,et custodiet a malo.and he will guard you from evil.

Confidimus autem de vobis,And we have confidence about you in the Lord,in Domino, quoniam quæ præcepimus, that you are doing, and will continue to do,et facitis, et facietis.just as we have instructed.

Dominus autem dirigat corda vestra in caritate Dei,And may the Lord direct your hearts,et patientia Christi.in the charity of God and with the patience of Christ.

Denuntiamus autem vobis,But we strongly caution you, fratres, brothers,in nomine Domini nostri Jesu Christi,in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,ut subtrahatis vos ab omni fratre ambulante inordinate, et non secundum traditionem, quam acceperunt a nobis.to draw yourselves away from every brother who is walking in disorder and not according to the tradition that they received from us.

Ipsi enim scitis quemadmodum oporteat imitari nos:For you yourselves know the manner in which you ought to imitate us.quoniam non inquieti fuimus inter vos:For we were not disorderly among you.

neque gratis panem manducavimus ab aliquo,Nor did we eat bread from anyone for free, sed in labore, but rather,et in fatigatione,we worked night and day, nocte et die operantes,in hardship and weariness,ne quem vestrum gravaremus.so as not to be burdensome to you.

Non quasi non habuerimus potestatem,It was not as if we had no authority, sed ut nosmetipsos formam daremus vobis ad imitandum nos.but this was so that we might present ourselves as an example to you, in order to imitate us.

Nam et cum essemus apud vos,Then, too, while we were with you,hoc denuntiabamus vobis:we insisted on this to you:quoniam si quis non vult operari, that if anyone was not willing to work, nec manducet.neither should he eat.

Audivimus enim inter vos quosdam ambulare inquiete,For we have heard that there are some among you who act disruptively, nihil operantes, not working at all,sed curiose agentes.but eagerly meddling.

Iis autem, qui ejusmodi sunt, denuntiemus,Now we charge those who act in this way,et obsecramus in Domino Jesu Christo, and we beg them in the Lord Jesus Christ,ut cum silentio operantes, suum panem manducent.that they work in silence and eat their own bread.

Vos autem,And you, fratres, brothers, nolite deficere benefacientes.do not grow weak in doing good.

Quod si quis non obedit verbo nostro per epistolam,But if anyone does not obey our word by this epistle, hunc notate, take note of him and do not keep company with him,et ne commisceamini cum illo ut confundatur:so that he may be ashamed.

et nolite quasi inimicum existimare,But do not be willing to consider him as an enemy;sed corripite ut fratrem.instead, correct him as a brother.

Ipse autem Dominus pacis det vobis pacem sempiternam in omni loco. Then may the Lord of peace himself give you an everlasting peace, in every place.Dominus sit cum omnibus vobis.May the Lord be with all of you.

Salutatio, mea manu Pauli:The greeting of Paul with my own hand, quod est signum in omni epistola, which is the seal in every epistle.ita scribo. So do I write.

Gratia Domini nostri Jesu Christi cum omnibus vobis.May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.Amen.Amen.
