3Invenerunt me vigiles qui custodiunt civitatem:The watchers who guard the city found me:Num quem diligit anima mea vidistis?“Have you seen him whom my soul loves?”

4Paululum cum pertransissem eos,When I had passed by them a little,inveni quem diligit anima mea:I found him whom my soul loves.tenui eum,I held him,nec dimittam,and would not release him,donec introducam illum in domum matris meæ,until I would bring him into my mother’s house,et in cubiculum genetricis meæ.and into the chamber of her who bore me.

5Adjuro vos,Groom to Chorus:filiæ Jerusalem,I bind you by oath,per capreas cervosque camporum,O daughters of Jerusalem,ne suscitetis,by the does and the stags of the open field,neque evigilare faciatis dilectam,not to disturb or awaken the beloved,donec ipsa velit.until she wills.

10columnas ejus fecit argenteas,He made its columns of silver,reclinatorium aureum,the reclining place of gold,ascensum purpureum;the ascent of purple;media caritate constravit,the middle he covered well,propter filias Jerusalem.out of charity for the daughters of Jerusalem.

11Egredimini et videte,O daughters of Zion,filiæ Sion,go forth and see king Solomon with the diadem with which his mother crowned him,regem Salomonem in diademate quo coronavit illum mater sua in die desponsationis illius,on the day of his espousal,et in die lætitiæ cordis ejus.on the day of the rejoicing of his heart.
