Similiter facies de asino,You shall act in a similar manner with his donkey,et de vestimento, and his clothing,et de omni re fratris tui,and all the belongings of your brother that have been lost.quæ perierit:If you find it,si inveneris eam,you shall not neglect it,ne negligas quasi alienam.as if it belonged to a stranger.
Si videris asinum fratris tuiIf you see that your brother’s donkey or ox has fallen along the way,aut bovem cecidisse in via,you shall not disregard it.non despicies,Instead, sed sublevabis cum eo.you shall lift it up with him.

Si ambulans per viam,If,in arboreas you are walking along the way,vel in terra nidum avis inveneris, you find a bird’s nest,et matrem pullisin a tree or on the ground, vel ovis desuper incubantem:and the mother is nurturing the young or the eggs, non tenebis eam cum filiis, you shall not take her with her young.
sed abire patieris,Instead, you shall permit her to go,captos tenens filios:retaining the young that you have caught,ut bene sit tibi,so that it may be well with you,et longo vivas tempore.and you may live for a long time.
Cum ædificaveris domum novam,When you build a new house, facies murum tecti per circuitum:you shall make a wall around the roof. Otherwise,ne effundatur sanguis in domo tua, someone may slip and fall down violently,et sis reus labente alio, and so blood would be shed at your house,et in præceps ruente.and you would be guilty.

Si duxerit vir uxorem,If a man takes a wife,et postea odio habuerit eam,and afterwards he has hatred for her,
quæsieritque occasiones quibus dimittat eam,and so he seeks opportunities to dismiss her, objiciens ei nomen pessimum, imputing a very wicked name to her by saying,et dixerit:‘I received this woman as a wife,Uxorem hanc accepi, and upon entering to her,et ingressus ad eam non inveni virginem:I found her not to be a virgin,’
tollent eam paterthen her father and mother shall take her,et mater ejus, and they shall bring with them the signs of her virginity,et ferent secum signa virginitatis ejus ad seniores urbis qui in porta sunt:to the elders of the city who are at the gate.
et dicet pater:And the father shall say:Filiam meam dedi huic uxorem:‘I gave my daughter to this man as a wife.quam quia odit,And because he hates her,
imponit ei nomen pessimum,he accuses her with a very wicked name,ut dicat:by saying:Non inveni filiam tuam virginem:“I did not find your daughter to be a virgin.”et ecce hæc sunt signa virginitatis filiæ meæ.But behold, these are the signs of my daughter’s virginity.’Expandent vestimentum coram senioribus civitatis:And they shall spread the clothing before the elders of the city.
apprehendentque senes urbis illius virum,And the elders of that city shall apprehend that manet verberabunt illum, and beat him.
condemnantes insuper centum siclis argenti,Moreover, they shall fine him one hundred shekels of silver, quos dabit patri puellæ,which he will give to the father of the girl, quoniam diffamavit nomen pessimum super virginem Israël:because he has committed slander, with a very wicked name, against a virgin of Israel.habebitque eam uxorem,And he shall have her as a wife,et non poterit dimittere eam omnibus diebus vitæ suæ.and he cannot dismiss her throughout all the days of his life.
Quod si verum est quod objicit,But if what he has claimed is trueet non est in puella inventa virginitas, and virginity is not found in the girl,
ejicient eam extra fores domus patris sui, then they shall throw her down, outside the doors of her father’s house,et lapidibus obruent viri civitatis illius, and the men of that city shall stone her to death,et morietur:and she shall die.quoniam fecit nefas in Israël,For she has acted wickedly in Israel,ut fornicaretur in domo patris sui:in that she fornicated in her father’s house.et auferes malum de medio tui.And so shall you take away the evil from your midst.

puella nihil patietur,The girl shall suffer nothing, nec est rea mortis:nor is she guilty unto death.quoniam sicut latro consurgit contra fratrem suum,For just as a robber rises up against his brotheret occidit animam ejus, and slays his life, ita et puella perpessa est.so also did the girl suffer greatly.
Sola erat in agro:She was alone in the field.clamavit,She cried out,et nullus affuit qui liberaret eam.and there was no one nearby, who might deliver her.
