Ac deinceps: Præcide,And after this he said:ait, tibi duas tabulas lapideas instar priorum,“Cut out for yourself two tablets of stone similar to the first ones,et scribam super eas verba, quæ habuerunt tabulæ quas fregisti.and I will write upon them the words which were held on the tablets that you broke.
Esto paratus mane,Be prepared in the morning,ut ascendas statim in montem Sinai,so that you may immediately ascend onto Mount Sinai, stabisque mecum super verticem montis.and you shall stand with me on the summit of the mountain.
Nullus ascendat tecum,Let no one ascend with you,nec videatur quispiam per totum montem:and do not let anyone be seen throughout the entire mountain.boves quoqueLikewise,et oves non pascantur e contra.do not let the oxen or the sheep pasture up against it.”

Cumque descendisset Dominus per nubem,And when the Lord had descended in a cloud, stetit Moyses cum eo,Moses stood with him, invocans nomen Domini.calling upon the name of the Lord.
Quo transeunte coram eo,And as he was crossing before him, ait:he said:Dominator Domine Deus,“The Ruler, misericors et clemens, the Lord God,patiens et multæ miserationis, merciful and lenient,ac verax, patient and full of compassion and also truthful,
qui custodis misericordiam in millia;who preserves mercy a thousand fold, qui aufers iniquitatem, who takes away iniquity,et scelera, and wickedness, atque peccata, and also sin;nullusque apud te per se innocens est;and with you no one, in and of himself, is innocent.qui reddis iniquitatem patrum filiis,You render the iniquity of the fathers to the sons,ac nepotibus in tertiam et quartam progeniem.and also to their descendants to the third and fourth generation.”
Festinusque Moyses,And hurrying, curvatus est pronus in terram,Moses bowed down prostrate to the ground;et adoransand worshiping,
ait: Si inveni gratiam in conspectu tuo,he said: “If I have found grace in your sight,Domine,O Lord, obsecro ut gradiaris nobiscum (populus enim duræ cervicis est) et auferas iniquitates nostras atque peccata,I beg you to walk with us, (for the people are stiff-necked) and take away our iniquities and our sin, nosque possideas.and so possess us.”
Respondit Dominus:The Lord responded:Ego inibo pactum videntibus cunctis:“I will enter into a pact in the sight of all.signa faciam quæ numquam visa sunt super terram,I will perform signs which have never been seen on earth, nec in ullis gentibus, nor among any nation,ut cernat populus iste,so that this people,in cujus es medio,in whose midst you are, opus Domini terribile quod facturus sum.may discern the terrible work of the Lord that I will do.
Observa cuncta quæ hodie mando tibi:Observe everything that I command you this day.ego ipse ejiciam ante faciem tuam Amorrhæum,I myself will drive out before your face the Amorite,et Chananæum,and the Canaanite,et Hethæum,and the Hittite,Pherezæum quoque, and the Perizzite,et Hevæum,and the Hivite,et Jebusæum.and the Jebusite.

Ne ineas pactum cum hominibus illarum regionum:Do not enter into a pact with the men of those regions,ne,lest, cum fornicati fuerint cum diis suis, when they will have fornicated with their godset adoraverint simulacra eorum, and worshiped their idols, vocet te quispiam ut comedas de immolatis.someone might call upon you to eat from what was immolated.
Nec uxorem de filiabus eorum accipies filiis tuis:Neither shall you take a wife for your son from their daughters,ne,lest, postquam ipsæ fuerint fornicatæ,after they themselves have fornicated, fornicari faciant et filios tuos in deos suos.they may cause your sons also to fornicate with their gods.
Deos conflatiles non facies tibi. You shall not make for yourselves any molten gods.
Solemnitatem azymorum custodies. You shall keep the solemnity of unleavened bread.Septem diebus vesceris azymis,For seven days, you shall eat unleavened bread, sicut præcepi tibi, just as I instructed you,in tempore mensis novorum:in the time of the month of what is new.mense enim verni temporis egressus es de Ægypto. For in the month of springtime you departed from Egypt.

Solemnitatem hebdomadarum facies tibi in primitiis frugum messis tuæ triticeæ,You shall observe the Solemnity of Weeks with the first-fruits of the grain from the harvest of your wheat,et solemnitatem, and a Solemnity when the time of the year returnsquando redeunte anni tempore cuncta conduntur.and everything is stored away.
Tribus temporibus anni apparebit omne masculinum tuum in conspectu omnipotentis Domini Dei Israël.Three times a year, all your males shall appear in the sight of the Almighty, the Lord God of Israel.

Dixitque Dominus ad Moysen:And the Lord said to Moses,Scribe tibi verba hæc,“Write these words to you, quibus et tecum et cum Israël pepigi fœdus.through which I have formed a covenant, both with you and with Israel.”
Fuit ergo ibi cum Domino quadraginta dies et quadraginta noctes:Therefore, panem non comedit,he was in that place with the Lord for forty days and forty nights;et aquam non bibit,he did not eat bread and he did not drink water,et scripsit in tabulis verba fœderis decem.and he wrote on the tablets the ten words of the covenant.
Cumque descenderet Moyses de monte Sinai,And when Moses descended from Mount Sinai, tenebat duas tabulas testimonii,he held the two tablets of the testimony,et ignorabat quod cornuta esset facies sua ex consortio sermonis Domini.and he did not know that his face was radiant from the sharing of words with the Lord.
Videntes autem AaronThen Aaron and the sons of Israel,et filii Israël cornutam Moysi faciem, seeing that the face of Moses was radiant, timuerunt prope accedere.were afraid to approach close by.
Vocatique ab eo,And being called by him, reversi sunt tam Aaron, they turned back, quam principes synagogæ.both Aaron and the leaders of the assembly.Et postquam locutus est ad eos,And after he had spoken to them,
venerunt ad eum etiam omnes filii Israël:all the sons of Israel also now came to him.quibus præcepit cuncta quæ audierat a Domino in monte Sinai. And he instructed them in all the things that he had heard from the Lord on Mount Sinai.
Impletisque sermonibus,And having completed these words, posuit velamen super faciem suam.he placed a veil over his face.
Quod ingressus ad Dominum,But when he entered to the Lord and was speaking with him,et loquens cum eo,he took it off, auferebat donec exiret, until he exited.et tunc loquebatur ad filios Israël omnia quæ sibi fuerant imperata. And then he spoke to the sons of Israel all that had been commanded to him.
Qui videbant faciem egredientis Moysi esse cornutam,And they saw that the face of Moses, when he came out,sed operiebat ille rursus faciem suam, was radiant, but he covered his face again, siquando loquebatur ad eos.whenever he spoke to them.
