Justus perit,The just man perishes,et non est qui recogitet in corde suo;and there is no one who acknowledges it in his heart;et viri misericordiæ colliguntur, and men of mercy are taken away, quia non est qui intelligat:for there is no one who understands.a facie enim malitiæ collectus est justus. For the just man has been taken away before the face of malice.

Veniat pax;Let peace arrive.requiescat in cubili suo qui ambulavit in directione sua.Let he who has walked in his righteousness find rest on his bed.

Vos autem accedite huc,But come here, filii auguratricis, you sons of the prophetess, semen adulteri et fornicariæ.you offspring of an adulterous man and a fornicating woman.

Super quem lusistis?Whom are you mocking?super quem dilatastis os,Against whom have you opened your mouth wideet ejecistis linguam?and wagged your tongue?Numquid non vos filii scelesti,Are you not sons of wickedness, semen mendax,a lying offspring,

qui consolamini in diis subter omne lignum frondosum, who are being consoled by idols under every leafy tree, immolantes parvulos in torrentibus, immolating little children at the torrents, subter eminentes petras?under the high rocks?

In partibus torrentis pars tua;Your portion is in the currents of the torrent;hæc est sors tua:this is your lot!et ipsis effudisti libamen,And you yourselves have poured out libations to them;obtulisti sacrificium.you have offered sacrifice.Numquid super his non indignabor?Should I not be angry over these things?

Super montem excelsumUpon a high and lofty mountain,et sublimem posuisti cubile tuum, you have placed your bed,et illuc ascendisti ut immolares hostias.and you have ascended to that place to immolate victims.

Et post ostium,And behind the door,et retro postem, and beyond the post, posuisti memoriale tuum.you have set up your memorial.Quia juxta me discooperuisti,For you uncovered yourself next to me,et suscepisti adulterum, and you received an adulterer.dilatasti cubile tuum,You widened your bed,et pepigisti cum eis fœdus;and you formed a pact with them.dilexisti stratum eorum manu aperta. You loved their bed with an open hand.

Et ornasti te regi unguento,And you have adorned yourself for the king with ointments,et multiplicasti pigmenta tua.and you have increased your cosmetics.Misisti legatos tuos procul,You have sent your representatives to distant places,et humiliata es usque ad inferos.and you have debased yourself all the way to Hell.

In multitudine viæ tuæ laborasti; You have been wearied by the multitude of your own ways.non dixisti:Yet you did not say,Quiescam.“I will cease.”Vitam manus tuæ invenisti; You have found life by your own hand;propterea non rogasti.because of this, you have not prayed.

Pro quo sollicita timuisti,For whose sake have you been anxiously afraid, quia mentita es,so that you would lie and not be mindful of me,et mei non es recordata, nor consider me in your heart?neque cogitasti in corde tuo?For I am silent,Quia ego tacens et quasi non videns, and I am like someone who does not see,et mei oblita es.and so you have forgotten me.

Ego annuntiabo justitiam tuam,I will announce your justice,et opera tua non proderunt tibi.and your works will not benefit you.

Cum clamaveris,When you cry out, liberent te congregati tui,let your followers free you.et omnes eos auferet ventus, tollet aura. But the wind will carry them all away;Qui autem fiduciam habet mei,a breeze will take them up.hæreditabit terram, et possidebit montem sanctum meum. But he who has faith in me will inherit the earth and will possess my holy mountain.

Et dicam:And I will say:Viam facite,“Make way!præbete iter;Grant passage!declinate de semita,Move to the side of the path!auferte offendicula de via populi mei.Take the obstacles out of the way of my people!”

Quia hæc dicit Excelsus,For this is said by the Most High,et Sublimis, the Sublime One,habitans æternitatem, who dwells in eternity.et sanctum nomen ejus:And his name is Holy,in excelso et in sancto habitans, for he dwells in the exalted and holy place,et cum contrito et humili spiritu:and he acts with a restrained and humble spirit,ut vivificet spiritum humilium,to revive the spirit of the humble,et vivificet cor contritorum.and to revive the heart of the contrite.

Non enim in sempiternum litigabo,For I will not contend unceasingly, neque usque ad finem irascar, and I will not be angry to the end.quia spiritus a facie mea egredietur,For I will exhale my breath,et flatus ego faciam.and the Spirit will go forth from my face.

Propter iniquitatem avaritiæ ejus iratus sum,Because of the iniquity of his avarice, I was angry,et percussi eum.and I struck him down.Abscondi a te faciem meam,I concealed my face from you,et indignatus sum; et abiit vagus in via cordis sui.and I was angry. And he went astray by wandering in his heart.

Vias ejus vidi,I saw his ways,et sanavi eum;and I healed him,et reduxi eum,and I led him back again,et reddidi consolationes ipsi, and I restored consolations to himet lugentibus ejus.and to those who mourn for him.

Creavi fructum labiorum pacem;I created the fruit of the lips: peace, pacem ei qui longe est et qui prope, peace to him who is far away, and peace to him who is near, dixit Dominus, said the Lord,et sanavi eum.and I healed him.

Impii autem quasi mare fervens,But the impious are like the raging sea, quod quiescere non potest, which is not able to be quieted,et redundant fluctus ejus in conculcationem et lutum.and its waves stir up dirt and mud.

Non est pax impiis,There is no peace for the impious, dicit Dominus Deus.says the Lord God.
