Et convocatis duodecim discipulis suis,And having called together his twelve disciples, dedit illis potestatem spirituum immundorum,he gave them authority over unclean spirits,ut ejicerent eos,to cast them outet curarent omnem languorem, and to cure every sicknesset omnem infirmitatem.and every infirmity.

Duodecim autem Apostolorum nomina sunt hæc.Now the names of the twelve Apostles are these:Primus, the First,Simon,Simon, qui dicitur Petrus:who is called Peter,et Andreas frater ejus, and Andrew his brother,

Jacobus Zebedæi,James of Zebedee,et Joannes frater ejus,and John his brother,Philippus,Philipet Bartholomæus,and Bartholomew,Thomas,Thomaset Matthæus publicanus,and Matthew the tax collector,Jacobus Alphæi,and James of Alphaeus,et Thaddæus,and Thaddaeus,

Hos duodecim misit Jesus,Jesus sent these twelve,præcipiens eis, instructing them, dicens:saying:In viam gentium ne abieritis,“Do not travel by the way of the Gentiles,et in civitates Samaritanorum ne intraveritis:and do not enter into the city of the Samaritans,

sed potius ite ad oves quæ perierunt domus Israël.but instead go to the sheep who have fallen away from the house of Israel.

Euntes autem prædicate,And going forth, preach, dicentes: Quia appropinquavit regnum cælorum.saying: ‘For the kingdom of heaven has drawn near.’

Infirmos curate,Cure the infirm,mortuos suscitate,raise the dead,leprosos mundate,cleanse lepers,dæmones ejicite:cast out demons.gratis accepistis,You have received freely,gratis date.so give freely.

Nolite possidere aurum,Do not choose to possess gold, neque argentum, nor silver, neque pecuniam in zonis vestris:nor money in your belts,

non peram in via,nor provisions for the journey, neque duas tunicas, nor two tunics, neque calceamenta, nor shoes, neque virgam:nor a staff.dignus enim est operarius cibo suo.For the laborer deserves his portion.

In quamcumque autem civitatem aut castellum intraveritis,Now,interrogate, into whatever city or town you will enter, quis in ea dignus sit:inquire as to who is worthy within it.et ibi manete donec exeatis. And stay there until you depart.

Intrantes autem in domum,Then, when you enter into the house, salutate eam, greet it, saying, dicentes: Pax huic domui.‘Peace to this house.’

Et siquidem fuerit domus illa digna,And if, indeed, that house is worthy, veniet pax vestra super eam:your peace will rest upon it.si autem non fuerit digna,But if it is not worthy, pax vestra revertetur ad vos.your peace will return to you.

Et quicumque non receperit vos,And whoever has neither received you, neque audierit sermones vestros:nor listened to your words, exeuntes foras de domo, departing from that housevel civitate,or city, excutite pulverem de pedibus vestris.shake off the dust from your feet.

Amen dico vobis:Amen I say to you,Tolerabilius erit terræ Sodomorum et Gomorrhæorum in die judicii,it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, quam illi civitati.than for that city.

Ecce ego mitto vos sicut oves in medio luporum.Behold, I am sending you like sheep in the midst of wolves.Estote ergo prudentes sicut serpentes, et simplices sicut columbæ.Therefore, be as prudent as serpents and as simple as doves.

Cavete autem ab hominibus. But beware of men.Tradent enim vos in conciliis,For they will hand you over to councils,et in synagogis suis flagellabunt vos:and they will scourge you in their synagogues.

et ad præsides, et ad reges ducemini propter me in testimonium illis, et gentibus. And you shall be led before both rulers and kings for my sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.

Cum autem tradent vos,But when they hand you over, nolite cogitare quomodo, aut quid loquamini:do not choose to think about how or what to speak.dabitur enim vobis in illa hora, quid loquamini:For what to speak shall be given to you in that hour.

non enim vos estis qui loquimini,For it is not you who will be speaking, sed Spiritus Patris vestri, but the Spirit of your Father, qui loquitur in vobis.who will speak in you.

Tradet autem frater fratrem in mortem,And brother will hand over brother to death,et pater filium:and father will hand over son.et insurgent filii in parentes,And children will rise up against parentset morte eos afficient:and bring about their deaths.

et eritis odio omnibus propter nomen meum:And you will be hated by all for the sake of my name.qui autem perseveraverit usque in finem,But whoever will have persevered, even to the end,hic salvus erit.the same shall be saved.

Cum autem persequentur vos in civitate ista,Now when they persecute you in one city, fugite in aliam.flee into another.Amen dico vobis,Amen I say to you,non consummabitis civitates Israël,you will not have exhausted all the cities of Israel, donec veniat Filius hominis.before the Son of man returns.

Non est discipulus super magistrum,The disciple is not above the teacher, nec servus super dominum suum:nor is the servant above his master.

sufficit discipulo ut sit sicut magister ejus,It is sufficient for the disciple that he be like his teacher,et servo, sicut dominus ejus.and the servant, like his master.Si patremfamilias Beelzebub vocaverunt,If they have called the Father of the family, ‘Beelzebub,’quanto magis domesticos ejus?how much more those of his household?

Ne ergo timueritis eos. Therefore, do not fear them.Nihil enim est opertum, quod non revelabitur:For nothing is covered that shall not be revealed,et occultum, quod non scietur.nor hidden that shall not be known.

Quod dico vobis in tenebris,What I tell you in darkness, dicite in lumine:speak in the light.et quod in aure auditis,And what you hear whispered in the ear,prædicate super tecta.preach above the rooftops.

Et nolite timere eos qui occidunt corpus,And do not be afraid of those who kill the body, animam autem non possunt occidere:but are not able to kill the soul.sed potius timete eum,But instead fear him who is able to destroy both soulqui potest et animam et corpus perdere in gehennam.and body in Hell.

Nonne duo passeres asse veneunt? Are not two sparrows sold for one small coin?et unus ex illis non cadet super terram sine Patre vestro. And yet not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father.

Vestri autem capilli capitis omnes numerati sunt. For even the hairs of your head have all been numbered.

Nolite ergo timere:Therefore, do not be afraid.multis passeribus meliores estis vos.You are worth more than many sparrows.

Omnis ergo qui confitebitur me coram hominibus,Therefore, confiteboreveryone who acknowledges me before men,et ego eum coram Patre meo,I also will acknowledge before my Father, qui in cælis est.who is in heaven.

Qui autem negaverit me coram hominibus,But whoever will have denied me before men, negabo et ego eum coram Patre meo,I also will deny before my Father, qui in cælis est.who is in heaven.

Nolite arbitrari quia pacem venerim mittere in terram:Do not think that I came to send peace upon the earth.non veni pacem mittere,I came, not to send peace, sed gladium:but the sword.

veni enim separare hominem adversus patrem suum,For I came to divide a man against his father,et filiam adversus matrem suam, and a daughter against her mother,et nurum adversus socrum suam:and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.

et inimici hominis, domestici ejus. And the enemies of a man will be those of his own household.

Qui amat patrem aut matrem plus quam me,Whoever loves fathernon est me dignus:or mother more than me is not worthy of me.et qui amat filium aut filiam super me,And whoever loves sonnon est me dignus.or daughter above me is not worthy of me.

Et qui non accipit crucem suam, et sequitur me, non est me dignus. And whoever does not take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.

Qui invenit animam suam,Whoever finds his life, perdet illam:will lose it.et qui perdiderit animam suam propter me,And whoever will have lost his life because of me,inveniet eam.shall find it.

Qui recipit vos,Whoever receives you,me recipit:receives me.et qui me recipit,And whoever receives me,recipit eum qui me misit.receives him who sent me.

Qui recipit prophetam in nomine prophetæ,Whoever receives a prophet, mercedem prophetæ accipiet:in the name of a prophet,et qui recipit justum in nomine justi, shall receive the reward of a prophet.mercedem justi accipiet. And whoever receives the just in the name of the just shall receive the reward of the just.

Et quicumque potum dederit uni ex minimis istis calicem aquæ frigidæ tantum in nomine discipuli: amen dico vobis, non perdet mercedem suam. And whoever shall give, even to one of the least of these, a cup of cold water to drink, solely in the name of a disciple: Amen I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.”
