Nam et ego homo sum sub potestate constitutus,For I, too, am a man placed under authority,habens sub me milites,having soldiers under me.et dico huic:And I say to one,Vade,‘Go,’et vadit:and he goes,et alii:and to another,Veni,‘Come,’et venit:and he comes,et servo meo:and to my servant,Fac hoc,‘Do this,’et facit.and he does it.”
Audiens autem Jesus miratus est,And, hearing this, Jesus wondered.et sequentibus se dixit:And he said to those following him:Amen dico vobis,“Amen I say to you,non inveni tantam fidem in Israël.I have not found so great a faith in Israel.
Dico autem vobis,For I say to you, quod multi ab oriente et occidente venient, that many shall come from the east and the west,et recumbent cum Abraham, and they shall sit at table with Abraham,et Isaac, and Isaac,et Jacob in regno cælorum:and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.

ut adimpleretur quod dictum est per Isaiam prophetam,in order to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah, dicentem:saying,Ipse infirmitates nostras accepit:“He took our infirmities,et ægrotationes nostras portavit.and he carried away our diseases.”
Videns autem Jesus turbas multas circum se,Then Jesus, seeing the great crowds encircling him, jussit ire trans fretum.gave orders to go across the sea.
Et accedens unus scriba,And one scribe, ait illi:approaching,Magister, said to him, sequar te,“Teacher, quocumque ieris.I will follow you wherever you will go.”

Erat autem non longe ab illis grex multorum porcorum pascens. Now there was, not far from them, a herd of many swine feeding.
Dæmones autem rogabant eum,Then the demons petitioned him, dicentes:saying:Si ejicis nos hinc,“If you cast us from here, mitte nos in gregem porcorum.send us into the herd of swine.”
Et ait illis:And he said to them,Ite.“Go.”At illi exeuntes abierunt in porcos,And they, going out, went into the swine.et ecce impetu abiit totus grex per præceps in mare:And behold, the entire herd suddenly rushed along a steep place into the sea.et mortui sunt in aquis. And they died in the waters.
Pastores autem fugerunt:Then the shepherds fled,et venientes in civitatem, and arriving in the city, nuntiaverunt omnia, they reported on all this,et de eis qui dæmonia habuerant.and on those who had had the demons.
Et ecce tota civitas exiit obviam Jesu:And behold, the entire city went out to meet Jesus.et viso eo,And having seen him, rogabant ut transiret a finibus eorum.they petitioned him, so that he would cross from their borders.
