Væ qui cogitatis inutile,Woe to you who devise useless things and who work evil in your beds.et operamini malum in cubilibus vestris! In the morning light,In luce matutina faciunt illud, they undertake it,quoniam contra Deum est manus eorum.because their hand is against God.

Et concupierunt agros,And they have desired fieldset violenter tulerunt:and have taken them by violence,et rapuerunt domos, and they have stolen houses.et calumniabantur virum,And they have made false accusations against a manet domum ejus:and his house, virum,a manet hæreditatem ejus.and his inheritance.

Idcirco hæc dicit Dominus:For this reason, thus says the Lord:Ecce ego cogito super familiam istam malum,Behold, I devise an evil against this family, unde non auferetis colla vestra, from which you will not steal away your necks.et non ambulabitis superbi:And you will not walk in arrogance, quoniam tempus pessimum est.because this is a most wicked time.

In die illa sumetur super vos parabola,In that day, a parable will be taken up about you,et cantabitur canticum cum suavitate, and a song will be sung with sweetness, dicentium: Depopulatione vastati sumus;saying: “We have been devastated by depopulation.”pars populi mei commutata est:The fate of my people has been altered.quomodo recedet a me,How can he withdraw from me,cum revertatur, when he might be turned back, qui regiones nostras dividat?he who might tear apart our country?

Propter hoc non erit tibi mittens funiculum sortis in cœtu Domini.Because of this, there will be for you no casting of the cord of fate in the assembly of the Lord.

Ne loquamini loquentes;Do not speak by saying, non stillabit super istos,“It will not drop on these ones;non comprehendet confusio.shame will not embrace them.”

Dicit domus Jacob:The house of Jacob says,Numquid abbreviatus est spiritus Domini,“Has the Spirit of the Lord been weakened, aut tales sunt cogitationes ejus?or are such things his thoughts?”nonne verba mea bona sunt cum eo qui recte graditur? Are not my words good for him who walks uprightly?

et e contrario populus meus in adversarium consurrexit. But, to the contrary, my people have risen up in opposition.Desuper tunica pallium sustulistis:You have lifted the cover from the undergarment,et eos qui transibant simpliciter convertistis in bellum.and those who passed by harmlessly, you have converted into war.

Mulieres populi mei ejecistis de domo deliciarum suarum; You have evicted the women among my people from their delicate houses.a parvulis earum tulistis laudem meam in perpetuum. You have taken my praise forever from their little ones.

Surgite,Rise and depart,et ite,for there is no relief for you here.quia non habetis hic requiem:Because of its uncleanness, propter immunditiam ejus corrumpetur putredine pessima.it will be corrupted with a most wicked decay.

Utinam non essem vir habens spiritum,I wish that I were not a man who has breath,et mendacium potius loquerer!and that I rather spoke a lie.Stillabo tibi in vinum et in ebrietatem;I will drop it down to you in wine and in drunkenness.et erit super quem stillatur populus iste. And it will be this people on whom it will rain down.

Congregatione congregabo,I will gather together in a congregation all of you,Jacob,Jacob.totum te;I will lead together as one,in unum conducam reliquias Israël:the remnant of Israel.pariter ponam illum quasi gregem in ovili,I will set them together like a flock in the fold, quasi pecus in medio caularum:like a sheep in the midst of the sheep pen.tumultuabuntur a multitudine hominum. They will cause a tumult before the multitude of men.

Ascendet enim pandens iter ante eos:For he will ascend, opening the way before them.divident,They will separate,et transibunt portam, et ingredientur per eam:and they will cross the gate and enter through it.et transibit rex eorum coram eis,And their king will pass by, before their very eyes,et Dominus in capite eorum.and the Lord will be at their head.
