1Canticum graduum.A Canticle in steps.In convertendo Dominus captivitatem Sion,When the Lord turned back the captivity of Zion,facti sumus sicut consolati.we became like those who are consoled.

2Tunc repletum est gaudio os nostrum,Then our mouth was filled with gladnesset lingua nostra exsultatione.and our tongue with exultation.Tunc dicent inter gentes:Then they will say among the nations:Magnificavit Dominus facere cum eis.“The Lord has done great things for them.”

3Magnificavit Dominus facere nobiscum;The Lord has done great things for us.facti sumus lætantes.We have become joyful.

4Converte, Domine,Convert our captivity,captivitatem nostram, sicut torrens in austro.O Lord, like a torrent in the south.

5Qui seminant in lacrimis, in exsultatione metent.Those who sow in tears shall reap in exultation.

6Euntes ibant et flebant,When departing,mittentes semina sua.they went forthVenientes autem venient cum exsultatione,and wept,portantes manipulos suos.sowing their seeds.

7But when returning, they will arrive with exultation, carrying their sheaves.
