Canticum graduum.A Canticle in steps.De profundis clamavi ad te,From the depths, I have cried out to you,Domine;O Lord.

Domine,O Lord, exaudi vocem meam.hear my voice.Fiant aures tuæ intendentes in vocem deprecationis meæ.Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication.

Si iniquitates observaveris,If you, O Lord, were to heed iniquities,Domine, Domine,who, O Lord,quis sustinebit?could persevere?

Quia apud te propitiatio est;For with you, there is forgiveness,et propter legem tuam sustinui te, Domine.and because of your law, I persevered with you,Sustinuit anima mea in verbo ejus:Lord. My soul has persevered in his word.

speravit anima mea in Domino. My soul has hoped in the Lord.

A custodia matutina usque ad noctem,From the morning watch, even until night, speret Israël in Domino.let Israel hope in the Lord.

Quia apud Dominum misericordia,For with the Lord there is mercy,et copiosa apud eum redemptio.and with him there is bountiful redemption.

Et ipse redimet Israël ex omnibus iniquitatibus ejus. And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
