Psalmus David.A Psalm of David versus Goliath.Adversus Goliath.Blessed is the Lord,Benedictus Dominus Deus meus,my God,qui docet manus meas ad prælium, who trains my hands for the battleet digitos meos ad bellum.and my fingers for the war.

Misericordia mea et refugium meum;My mercy and my refuge, susceptor meus et liberator meus;my supporter and my deliverer, protector meus, et in ipso speravi,my protector and him in whom I have hoped:qui subdit populum meum sub me.he subdues my people under me.

Domine,O Lord, quid est homo, quia innotuisti ei?what is man that you have become known to him?aut filius hominis, quia reputas eum?Or the son of man that you consider him?

Homo vanitati similis factus est;Man has been made similar to vanity.dies ejus sicut umbra prætereunt. His days pass by like a shadow.

Domine,O Lord,inclina cælos tuos,incline your heavenset descende;and descend.tange montes,Touch the mountains,et fumigabunt.and they will smoke.

Fulgura coruscationem,Send a flash of lightning,et dissipabis eos;and you will scatter them.emitte sagittas tuas,Shoot your arrows,et conturbabis eos.and you will set them in disarray.

Emitte manum tuam de alto:Send forth your hand from on high:eripe me,rescue me,et libera me de aquis multis, and free me from many waters,de manu filiorum alienorum:from the hand of the sons of foreigners.

quorum os locutum est vanitatem,Their mouth has been speaking vain things,et dextera eorum dextera iniquitatis.and their right hand is the right hand of iniquity.

Deus,To you, canticum novum cantabo tibi;O God, I will sing a new song. On the psaltery,in psalterio decachordo psallam tibi.with an instrument of ten strings, I will sing psalms to you.

Qui das salutem regibus,He gives salvation to kings.qui redemisti David servum tuum de gladio maligno,He has redeemed your servant David from the malignant sword.

eripe me,Rescue me,et erue me de manu filiorum alienorum, and deliver me from the hand of the sons of foreigners.quorum os locutum est vanitatem,Their mouth has been speaking vain things,et dextera eorum dextera iniquitatis.and their right hand is the right hand of iniquity.

Quorum filii sicut novellæ plantationes in juventute sua;Their sons are like new plantings in their youth.filiæ eorum compositæ,Their daughters are dressed up:circumornatæ ut similitudo templi.adorned all around like the idols of a temple.

Promptuaria eorum plena,Their cupboards are full:eructantia ex hoc in illud;overflowing from one thing into another.oves eorum fœtosæ,Their sheep bear young, abundantes in egressibus suis;brought forth in abundance.

boves eorum crassæ.Their cattle are fat.Non est ruina maceriæ,There is no ruined wallneque transitus,or passage, neque clamor in plateis eorum.nor anyone crying out in their streets.

Beatum dixerunt populum cui hæc sunt; They have called the people that has these things:beatus populus cujus Dominus Deus ejus.blessed. But blessed is the people whose God is the Lord.
