Et conversus sum,And I turned and lifted up my eyes.et levavi oculos meos,And I saw,et vidi,and behold,et ecce volumen volans.a book flying.
Et dixit ad me:And he said to me,Quid tu vides?“What do you see?”Et dixi:And I said,Ego video volumen volans:“I see a book flying.longitudo ejus viginti cubitorum,Its length is twenty cubits,et latitudo ejus decem cubitorum.and its width is ten cubits.”
Et dixit ad me:And he said to me,Hæc est maledictio quæ egreditur super faciem omnis terræ:“This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole earth.quia omnis fur,For every thief will be judged, sicut ibi scriptum est, just as it has been written there, judicabitur, and everyone who swears by this,et omnis jurans ex hoc similiter judicabitur.will be judged in like manner.”
Educam illud,I will bring it forth, dicit Dominus exercituum:says the Lord of hosts,et veniet ad domum furis, and it will approach to the house of the thief,et ad domum jurantis in nomine meo mendaciter:and to the house of him who swears falsely by my name,et commorabitur in medio domus ejus, and it will remain in the midst of his houseet consumet eam,and will consume it,et ligna ejus, with its woodet lapides ejus.and its stones.
Et egressus est angelus qui loquebatur in me,And the angel had departed, who was speaking with me.et dixit ad me:And he said to me,Leva oculos tuos,“Lift up your eyes,et vide quid est hoc quod egreditur.and see what this is, that goes forth.”
Et dixi:And I said,Quidnam est?“What, then,Et ait:is it?”Hæc est amphora egrediens. Et dixit:And he said, “This is a container going forth.”Hæc est oculus eorum in universa terra. And he said, “This is their eye in all the earth.”
Et ecce talentum plumbi portabatur,And behold, a talent of lead was being carried;et ecce mulier una sedens in medio amphoræ.and behold, one woman sitting in the middle of the container.
Et dixit:And he said,Hæc est impietas.“This is impiety.”Et projecit eam in medio amphoræ,And he cast her into the middle of the container,et misit massam plumbeam in os ejus.and he sent the weight of lead into its mouth.
Et levavi oculos meos,And I lifted up my eyes and I saw.et vidi:And behold,et ecce duæ mulieres egredientes:two women were departing,et spiritus in alis earum, and a spirit was in their wings,et habebant alas quasi alas milvi, and they had wings like the wings of a kite,et levaverunt amphoram inter terram et cælum.and they lifted up the container between earth and heaven.
Et dixi ad angelum qui loquebatur in me:And I said to the angel who was speaking with me,Quo istæ deferunt amphoram?“Where are they taking the container?”
Et dixit ad me:And he said to me,Ut ædificetur ei domus in terra Sennaar,“To a house that may be built for it in the land of Shinar,et stabiliatur, and so that it may be establishedet ponatur ibi super basem suam.and set there upon its own base.”
