Sic nos existimet homo ut ministros Christi,Accordingly,et dispensatores mysteriorum Dei.let man consider us to be ministers of Christ and attendants of the mysteries of God.

Hic jam quæritur inter dispensatores ut fidelis quis inveniatur. Here and now, it is required of attendants that each one be found to be faithful.

Mihi autem pro minimo est ut a vobis judicer,But as for me,aut ab humano die:it is such a small thing to be judged by you, sedor by the age of mankind.neque meipsum judico. And neither do I judge myself.

Nihil enim mihi conscius sum,For I have nothing on my conscience.sed non in hoc justificatus sum:But I am not justified by this.qui autem judicat me, Dominus est.For the Lord is the One who judges me.

Itaque nolite ante tempus judicare,And so,quoadusque veniat Dominus:do not choose to judge before the time, quiuntil the Lord returns.et illuminabit abscondita tenebrarum,He will illuminate the hidden things of the darkness,et manifestabit consilia cordium:and he will make manifest the decisions of hearts.et tunc laus erit unicuique a Deo.And then each one shall have praise from God.

Hæc autem,And so,fratres, brothers, transfiguravi in meI have presented these things in myself and in Apollo,et Apollo, for your sakes, propter vos:so that you may learn,ut in nobis discatis, through us,ne supra quam scriptum est, that no one should be inflated against one person and for another, unus adversus alterum infletur pro alio.not beyond what has been written.

Quis enim te discernit? For what distinguishes you from another?quid autem habes quod non accepisti? And what do you have that you have not received?si autem accepisti,But if you have received it,quid gloriaris quasi non acceperis?why do you glory, as if you had not received it?

Jam saturati estis,So, now you have been filled, jam divites facti estis:and now you have been made wealthy, sine nobis regnatis:as if to reign without us?et utinam regnetis,But I wish that you would reign,ut et nos vobiscum regnemus.so that we, too, might reign with you!

Puto enim quod Deus nos Apostolos novissimos ostendit,For I think that God has presented us as the last Apostles, tamquam morti destinatos:as those destined for death.quia spectaculum facti sumus mundo,For we have been made into a spectacle for the world,et angelis, and for Angels,et hominibus.and for men.

Nos stulti propter Christum,So we are fools because of Christ, vos autem prudentes in Christo:but you are discerning in Christ?nos infirmi,We are weak, vos autem fortes:but you are strong?vos nobiles,You are noble, nos autem ignobiles.but we are ignoble?

Usque in hanc horam et esurimus, et sitimus,Even to this very hour, we hunger and thirst,et nudi sumus, et colaphis cædimur, and we are naked and repeatedly beaten,et instabiles sumus, and we are unsteady.

et laboramus operantes manibus nostris:And we labor, maledicimur, working with our own hands.et benedicimus:We are slandered, persecutionem patimur, and so we bless.et sustinemus:We suffer and endure persecution.

blasphemamur,We are cursed,et obsecramus:and so we pray.tamquam purgamenta hujus mundi facti sumus,We have become like the refuse of this world, omnium peripsema usque adhuc.like the reside of everything, even until now.

Non ut confundam vos,I am not writing these things in order to confound you,hæc scribo, but in order to admonish you,sed ut filios meos carissimos moneo.as my dearest sons.

Nam si decem millia pædagogorum habeatis in Christo,For you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, sed non multos patres.but not so many fathers.Nam in Christo Jesu per Evangelium ego vos genui. For in Christ Jesus, through the Gospel, I have begotten you.

Rogo ergo vos,Therefore, imitatores mei estote,I beg you, sicutbe imitators of me,et ego Christi.just as I am of Christ.

Ideo misi ad vos Timotheum,For this reason, I have sent you Timothy, qui est filius meus carissimus, et fidelis in Domino:who is my dearest son, and who is faithful in the Lord.qui vos commonefaciet vias meas,He will remind you of my ways,quæ sunt in Christo Jesu, which are in Christ Jesus, sicut ubique in omni ecclesia doceo.just as I teach everywhere, in every church.

Tamquam non venturus sim ad vos, sic inflati sunt quidam.Certain persons have become inflated in thinking that I would not return to you.

Veniam autem ad vos cito,But I will return to you soon,si Dominus voluerit:if the Lord is willing.et cognoscam non sermonem eorum qui inflati sunt,And I will consider, not the words of those who are inflated, sed virtutem.but the virtue.

Non enim in sermone est regnum Dei,For the kingdom of God is not in words, sed in virtute.but in virtue.

Quid vultis? What would you prefer?in virga veniam ad vos,Should I return to you with a rod,an in caritate,or with charityet spiritu mansuetudinis?and a spirit of meekness?
