Audet aliquis vestrum habens negotium adversus alterum,How is it that anyone of you, having a dispute against another, judicari apud iniquos, would dare to be judged before the iniquitous,et non apud sanctos?and not before the saints?

an nescitis quoniam sancti de hoc mundo judicabunt?Or do you not know that the saints from this age shall judge it?et si in vobis judicabitur mundus,And if the world is to be judged by you, indigni estis qui de minimis judicetis?are you unworthy, then, to judge even the smallest matters?

Nescitis quoniam angelos judicabimus?Do you not know that we shall judge angels?quanto magis sæcularia? How much more the things of this age?

Sæcularia igitur judicia si habueritis:Therefore, if you have matters to judge concerning this age, contemptibiles, qui sunt in ecclesia, illos constituite ad judicandum.why not appoint those who are most contemptible in the Church to judge these things!

Ad verecundiam vestram dico. But I am speaking so as to shame you.Sic non est inter vos sapiens quisquam,Is there no one among you wise enough, qui possit judicare inter fratrem suum?so that he might be able to judge between his brothers?

Sed frater cum fratre judicio contendit:Instead, brother contends against brother in court,et hoc apud infideles?and this before the unfaithful!

Jam quidem omnino delictum est in vobis,Now there is certainly an offense among you, beyond everything else, quod judicia habetis inter vos.when you have court cases against one another.Quare non magis injuriam accipitis?Should you not accept injury instead?quare non magis fraudem patimini?Should you not endure being cheated instead?

Sed vos injuriam facitis,But you are doing the injuringet fraudatis:and the cheating,et hoc fratribus.and this toward brothers!

An nescitis quia iniqui regnum Dei non possidebunt?Do you not know that the iniquitous will not possess the kingdom of God?Nolite errare:Do not choose to wander astray.neque fornicarii,For neither fornicators, neque idolis servientes, nor servants of idolatry, neque adulteri, nor adulterers,

neque molles, nor the effeminate, neque masculorum concubitores, nor males who sleep with males, neque fures, nor thieves, neque avari, nor the avaricious, neque ebriosi, nor the inebriated, neque maledici, nor slanderers, neque rapaces regnum Dei possidebunt.nor the rapacious shall possess the kingdom of God.

Et hæc quidam fuistis:And some of you were like this.sed abluti estis,But you have been absolved, sed sanctificati estis, but you have been sanctified, sed justificati estis in nomine Domini nostri Jesu Christi, but you have been justified:et in Spiritu Dei nostri.all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

Omnia mihi licent,All is lawful to me,sed non omnia expediunt:but not all is expedient.omnia mihi licent,All is lawful to me,sed ego sub nullis redigar potestate.but I will not be driven back by the authority of anyone.

Esca ventri,Food is for the stomach,et venter escis:and the stomach is for food.Deus autem et hunc et has destruet:But God shall destroy both the stomach and food.corpus autem non fornicationi,And the body is not for fornication, sed Domino:but rather for the Lord;et Dominus corpori.and the Lord is for the body.

Deus veroTruly,et Dominum suscitavit:God has raised up the Lord,et nos suscitabit per virtutem suam.and he will raise us up by his power.

Nescitis quoniam corpora vestra membra sunt Christi?Do you not know that your bodies are a part of Christ?Tollens ergo membra Christi,So then, faciam membra meretricis?should I take a part of Christ and make it a part of a harlot?Absit.Let it not be so!

An nescitis quoniam qui adhæret meretrici, unum corpus efficitur? And do you not know that whoever is joined to a harlot becomes one body?Erunt enim (inquit) duo in carne una.“For the two,” he said, “shall be as one flesh.”

Qui autem adhæret Domino, unus spiritus est.But whoever is joined to the Lord is one spirit.

Fugite fornicationem.Flee from fornication.Omne peccatum, quodcumque fecerit homo, extra corpus est:Every sin whatsoever that a man commits is outside of the body, qui autem fornicatur, but whoever fornicates,in corpus suum peccat.sins against his own body.

An nescitis quoniam membra vestra, templum sunt Spiritus Sancti,Or do you not know that your bodies are the Temple of the Holy Spirit, qui in vobis est,who is in you, quem habetis a Deo,whom you have from God,et non estis vestri?and that you are not your own?

Empti enim estis pretio magno. For you have been bought at a great price.Glorificate,Glorifyet portate Deum in corpore vestro.and carry God in your body.
