Et datus est mihi calamus similis virgæ,And a reed, similar to a staff, was given to me.et dictum est mihi:And it was said to me:Surge, et metire templum Dei,“Rise up and measure the temple of God,et altare, et adorantes in eo:and those who are worshiping in it, and the altar.

atrium autem,But the atrium, quod est foris templum, which is outside of the temple, ejice foras, set it asideet ne metiaris illud:and do not measure it,quoniam datum est gentibus, because it has been given over to the Gentiles.et civitatem sanctam calcabunt mensibus quadraginta duobus:And they shall trample upon the Holy City for forty-two months.

et dabo duobus testibus meis,And I will present my two witnesses,et prophetabunt diebus mille ducentis sexaginta, and they shall prophesy for one thousand two hundred and sixty days, amicti saccis.clothed in sackcloth.

Hi sunt duæ olivæThese are the two olive trees and the two lampstands,et duo candelabra in conspectu Domini terræ stantes.standing in the sight of the lord of the earth.

Et si quis voluerit eos nocere,And if anyone will want to harm them, ignis exiet de ore eorum, fire shall go forth from their mouths,et devorabit inimicos eorum:and it shall devour their enemies.et si quis voluerit eos lædere,And if anyone will want to wound them, sic oportet eum occidi.so must he be slain.

Hi habent potestatem claudendi cælum,These have the power to close up the heavens,ne pluat diebus prophetiæ ipsorum:so that it may not rain during the days of their prophesying.et potestatem habent super aquas convertendi eas in sanguinem,And they have power over the waters, to convert them into blood,et percutere terram omni plaga quotiescumque voluerint.and to strike the earth with every kind of affliction as often as they will.

Et cum finierint testimonium suum, bestia,And when they will have finished their testimony,quæ ascendit de abysso, faciet adversum eos bellum, the beast that ascended from the abyss will make war against them,et vincet illos, and will overcome them,et occidet eos.and will kill them.

Et corpora eorum jacebunt in plateis civitatis magnæ,And their bodies shall lie in the streets of the Great City,quæ vocatur spiritualiter Sodoma, which is figuratively called ‘Sodom’et Ægyptus, and ‘Egypt,’ubi et Dominus eorum crucifixus est.the place where their Lord also was crucified.

Et videbunt de tribubus, et populis, et linguis, et gentibus corpora eorum per tres dies et dimidium: et corpora eorum non sinent poni in monumentis:And those from the tribes and peoples and languages and nations shall be watching their bodies for three and one half days. And they shall not permit their bodies to be placed in tombs.

et inhabitantes terram gaudebunt super illos,And the inhabitants of the earth will rejoice over them,et jucundabuntur:and they will celebrate,et munera mittent invicem, and they will send gifts to one another, quoniam hi duo prophetæ cruciaverunt eos, qui habitabant super terram.because these two prophets tortured those who were living upon the earth.

Et post dies tres et dimidium,And after three and one half days, spiritus vitæ a Deo intravit in eos.the spirit of life from God entered into them.Et steterunt super pedes suos,And they stood upright on their feet.et timor magnus cecidit super eos qui viderunt eos.And a great fear fell over those who saw them.

Et audierunt vocem magnam de cælo,And they heard a great voice from heaven, dicentem eis:saying to them,Ascendite huc.“Ascend to here!”Et ascenderunt in cælum in nube:And they ascended into heaven on a cloud.et viderunt illos inimici eorum. And their enemies saw them.

Et in illa hora factus est terræmotus magnus,And at that hour, a great earthquake occurred.et decima pars civitatis cecidit:And one tenth part of the City fell.et occisa sunt in terræmotu nomina hominum septem millia:And the names of the men slain in the earthquake were seven thousand.et reliqui in timorem sunt missi,And the remainder were thrown into fear,et dederunt gloriam Deo cæli.and they gave glory to the God of heaven.

Væ secundum abiit:The second woe has gone out,et ecce væ tertium veniet cito.but behold, the third woe approaches quickly.

Et septimus angelus tuba cecinit:And the seventh Angel sounded the trumpet.et factæ sunt voces magnæ in cælo dicentes:And there were great voices in heaven,Factum est regnum hujus mundi, saying:Domini nostri et Christi ejus,“The kingdom of this world has become our Lord’s and his Christ’s,et regnabit in sæcula sæculorum.and he shall reign forever and ever.Amen.Amen.”

Et viginti quatuor seniores,And the twenty-four elders, qui in conspectu Dei sedent in sedibus suis, who sit on their thrones in the sight of God,ceciderunt in facies suas, fell upon their faces,et adoraverunt Deum, and they adored God,dicentes:saying:

Gratias agimus tibi,“We give thanks to you,Domine Deus omnipotens,Lord God Almighty, qui es,who is,et qui eras, and who was,et qui venturus es:and who is to come.quia accepisti virtutem tuam magnam,For you have taken your great power,et regnasti.and you have reigned.

Et iratæ sunt gentes,And the nations became angry,et advenit ira tuabut your wrath arrived,et tempus mortuorum judicari, and the time for the dead to be judged,et reddere mercedem servis tuis prophetis, and to render a reward to your servants the prophets,et sanctis, and to the saints,et timentibus nomen tuum pusillisand to those who fear your name,et magnis, small and great,et exterminandi eos qui corruperunt terram.and to exterminate those who have corrupted the earth.”

Et apertum est templum Dei in cælo:And the temple of God was opened in heaven.et visa est arca testamenti ejus in templo ejus,And the Ark of his Testament was seen in his temple.et facta sunt fulgura, et voces,And there were lightnings and voices and thunders,et terræmotus, and an earthquake,et grando magna.and great hail.
