Et vidi quod aperuisset Agnus unum de septem sigillis,And I saw that the Lamb had opened one of the seven seals.et audivi unum de quatuor animalibus,And I heard one of the four living creatures saying, dicens tamquam vocem tonitrui:in a voice like thunder:Veni,“Draw nearet vide.and see.”

Et vidi:And I saw,et ecce equus albus, and behold, a white horse.et qui sedebat super illum, habebat arcum,And he who was sitting upon it was holding a bow,et data est ei corona, and a crown was given to him,et exivit vincens ut vinceret.and he went forth conquering, so that he might prevail.

Et cum aperuisset sigillum secundum,And when he had opened the second seal, audivi secundum animal, dicens:I heard the second living creature saying:Veni, et vide.“Draw near and see.”

Et exivit alius equus rufus:And another horse went forth,et qui sedebat super illum, which was red.datum est ei ut sumeret pacem de terra,And it was granted to him who was sitting upon it that he would take peace from the earth,et ut invicem se interficiant, and that they would kill one another.et datus est ei gladius magnus. And a great sword was given to him.

Et cum aperuisset sigillum tertium,And when he had opened the third seal, audivi tertium animal, dicens:I heard the third living creature saying:Veni, et vide.“Draw near and see.”Et ecce equus niger:And behold, a black horse.et qui sedebat super illum, habebat stateram in manu sua.And he who was sitting upon it was holding a balance in his hand.

Et audivi tamquam vocem in medio quatuor animalium dicentium:And I heard something like a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying,Bilibris tritici denario et tres bilibres hordei denario,“A double measure of wheat for a denarius,et vinum, and three double measures of barley for a denarius,et oleum ne læseris.but do no harm to wine and oil.”

Et cum aperuisset sigillum quartum,And when he had opened the fourth seal, audivi vocem quarti animalis dicentis:I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying:Veni,“Draw nearet vide.and see.”

Et ecce equus pallidus:And behold, a pale horse.et qui sedebat super eum,And he who was sitting upon it,nomen illi Mors, his name was Death,et infernus sequebatur eum,and Hell was following him.et data est illi potestas super quatuor partes terræ,And authority was given to him over the four parts of the earth, interficere gladio,to destroy by the sword, fame,by famine,et morte, and by death,et bestiis terræ.and by the creatures of the earth.

Et cum aperuisset sigillum quintum,And when he had opened the fifth seal, vidi subtus altare animas interfectorum propter verbum Dei,I saw,et propter testimonium, under the altar, quod habebant:the souls of those who had been slain because of the Word of God and because of the testimony that they held.

et clamabant voce magna,And they were crying out with a loud voice, dicentes:saying:Usquequo Domine (sanctus et verus),“How long, non judicas,O Holy and True Lord,et non vindicas sanguinem nostrum de iis qui habitant in terra?will you not judge and not vindicate our blood against those who dwell upon the earth?”

Et datæ sunt illis singulæ stolæ albæ:And white robes were given to each of them.et dictum est illis ut requiescerent adhuc tempus modicum donec compleantur conservi eorum,And they were told that they should rest for a brief time,et fratres eorum, until their fellow servants and their brothers, qui interficiendi sunt sicutwho were to be slain even as they were slain,et illi.would be completed.

Et vidi cum aperuisset sigillum sextum:And when he had opened the sixth seal, I saw,et ecce terræmotus magnus factus est,and behold, a great earthquake occurred.et sol factus est niger tamquam saccus cilicinus:And the sun became black, like a haircloth sack,et luna tota facta est sicut sanguis:and the entire moon became like blood.

et stellæ de cælo ceciderunt super terram,And the stars from heaven fell upon the earth, sicut ficus emittit grossos suos cum a vento magno movetur:just as when a fig tree, shaken by a great wind, drops its immature figs.

et cælum recessit sicut liber involutus:And heaven receded, like a scroll being rolled up.et omnis mons,And every mountain,et insulæ de locis suis motæ sunt:and the islands, were moved from their places.

et reges terræ,And the kings of the earth,et principes, and the rulers,et tribuni, and the military leaders,et divites, and the wealthy,et fortes, and the strong,et omnis servus, and everyone,et liber absconderunt se in speluncis, servant and free,et in petris montium:hid themselves in caves and among the rocks of the mountains.

et dicunt montibus,And they said to the mountainset petris:and the rocks:Cadite super nos,“Fall over uset abscondite nos a facie sedentis super thronum, and hide us from the face of the One sitting upon the throne,et ab ira Agni:and from the wrath of the Lamb.

quoniam venit dies magnus iræ ipsorum:For the great day of their wrath has arrived.et quis poterit stare? And who will be able to stand?”
