Hæc visio similitudinis gloriæ Domini. This was the vision of the likeness of the glory of the Lord.Et vidi,And I saw,et cecidi in faciem meam, and I fell on my face,et audivi vocem loquentis, and I heard the voice of someone speaking.et dixit ad me:And he said to me:Fili hominis,“Son of man,sta super pedes tuos, stand on your feet,et loquar tecum.and I will speak with you.”

Et ingressus est in me spiritus postquam locutus est mihi,And after this was spoken to me, the Spirit entered into me,et statuit me supra pedes meos: et audivi loquentem ad me,and he set me on my feet. And I heard him speaking to me,

et dicentem:and saying:Fili hominis,“Son of man, mitto ego te ad filios Israël,I am sending you to the sons of Israel,ad gentes apostatrices quæ recesserunt a me:to an apostate nation, which has withdrawn from me.ipsi et patres eorum prævaricati sunt pactum meum usque ad diem hanc:They and their fathers have betrayed my covenant, even to this day.

et filii dura facie et indomabili corde sunt,And those to whom I am sending you are sons with a hard facead quos ego mitto te.and an unyielding heart.Et dices ad eos:And you shall say to them:Hæc dicit Dominus Deus:‘Thus says the Lord God.’

si forte vel ipsi audiant,Perhaps it may be that they will hear,et si forte quiescant, and perhaps they may be quieted.quoniam domus exasperans est:For they are a provoking house.et scient quia propheta fuerit in medio eorum. And they shall know that there has been a prophet in their midst.

Tu ergo,But as for you, fili hominis, son of man,ne timeas eos,you should not fear them, neque sermones eorum metuas, and you should not dread their words.quoniam increduli et subversores sunt tecum,For you are among unbelievers and subversives,et cum scorpionibus habitas.and you are living with scorpions.Verba eorum ne timeas,You should not fear their words,et vultus eorum ne formides, and you should not dread their faces.quia domus exasperans est.For they are a provoking house.

Loqueris ergo verba mea ad eos,Therefore,si forte audiant, you shall speak my words to them,et quiescant:so that perhaps they may hear and be quieted.quoniam irritatores sunt. For they are provoking.

Tu autem,But as for you, fili hominis, son of man, audi quæcumque loquor ad te,listen to all that I say to you.et noli esse exasperans,And do not choose to be provoking, sicut domus exasperatrix est:as that house is a provoker.aperi os tuum,Open your mouth,et comede quæcumque ego do tibi.and eat whatever I give to you.”

Et vidi:And I looked,et ecce manus missa ad me,and behold:in qua erat involutus liber:a hand was put forth toward me;et expandit illum coram me,there was a scroll rolled up in it.qui erat scriptus intusAnd he spread it out before me,et foris:and there was writing on the inside and on the outside.et scriptæ erant in eo lamentationes,And there were written in it lamentations,et carmen, and verses,et væ.and woes.
