Verbum quod vidit Isaias,The word that Isaiah,filius Amos,the son of Amoz,super Juda et Jerusalem.saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

Et erit in novissimis diebus:And in the last days,præparatus mons domus Domini in vertice montium,the mountain of the house of the Lord will be prepared at the summit of the mountains,et elevabitur super colles;and it will be exalted above the hills,et fluent ad eum omnes gentes,and all the nations shall flow to it.

et ibunt populi multi,And many peoples will go,et dicent:and they will say:Venite,“Let us approachet ascendamus ad montem Domini,and ascend to the mountain of the Lord,et ad domum Dei Jacob;and to the house of the God of Jacob.et docebit nos vias suas,And he will teach us his ways,et ambulabimus in semitis ejus,and we will walk in his paths.”quia de Sion exibit lex,For the law will go forth from Zion,et verbum Domini de Jerusalem.and the Word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

Et judicabit gentes,And he will judge the nations,et arguet populos multos;and he will rebuke many peoples.et conflabunt gladios suos in vomeres,And they shall forge their swords into plowshares,et lanceas suas in falces.and their spears into sickles.Non levabit gens contra gentem gladium,Nation will not lift up sword against nation,nec exercebuntur ultra ad prælium.neither will they continue to train for battle.

Domus Jacob,O house of Jacob,venite,let us approachet ambulemus in lumine Domini.and walk in the light of the Lord.

Projecisti enim populum tuum,For you have cast aside your people,domum Jacob,the house of Jacob,quia repleti sunt ut olim,because they have been filled up, as in past times,et augeres habuerunt ut Philisthiim,and because they have had soothsayers as the Philistines have,et pueris alienis adhæserunt.and because they have joined themselves to foreign servants.

Repleta est terra argento et auro,Their land has been filled with silver and gold.et non est finis thesaurorum ejus.And there is no end to their storehouses.

Et repleta est terra ejus equis,And their land has been filled with horses.et innumerabiles quadrigæ ejus.And their four-horse chariots are innumerable.Et repleta est terra ejus idolis;And their land has been filled with idols.opus manuum suarum adoraverunt,They have adored the work of their hands,quod fecerunt digiti eorum.which their own fingers have made.

Et incurvavit se homo,And man has bowed himself down,et humiliatus est vir;and so man has become debased.ne ergo dimittas eis.Therefore, you should not forgive them.

Ingredere in petram,Enter into the rock,et abscondere in fossa humo a facie timoris Domini,and hide in a ditch in the soil, from the presence of the fear of the Lord,et a gloria majestatis ejus.and from the glory of his majesty.

Oculi sublimes hominis humiliati sunt,The lofty eyes of man have been humbled,et incurvabitur altitudo virorum;and the haughtiness of men will be bowed down.exaltabitur autem Dominus solus in die illa.Then the Lord alone shall be exalted, in that day.

Quia dies Domini exercituum super omnem superbum,For the day of the Lord of hosts will prevail over all the proudet excelsum,and self-exalted,et super omnem arrogantem,and over all the arrogant,et humiliabitur;and each one shall be humbled,

et super omnes cedros Libani sublimes et erectas,and over all the straight and tall cedars of Lebanon,et super omnes quercus Basan,and over all the oaks of Bashan;

et super omnes montes excelsos,and over all the lofty mountains,et super omnes colles elevatos,and over all the elevated hills;

et super omnem turrim excelsam,and over every lofty tower,et super omnem murum munitum,and over every fortified wall;

et super omnes naves Tharsis,and over all the ships of Tarshish,et super omne quod visu pulchrum est,and over all the beauty that may be seen.

et incurvabitur sublimitas hominum,And the loftiness of men will be bowed down,et humiliabitur altitudo virorum,and the haughtiness of men will be brought low.et elevabitur Dominus solus in die illa;And the Lord alone shall be exalted, in that day.

et idola penitus conterentur;And idols will be thoroughly crushed.

et introibunt in speluncas petrarum,And they will go into the caves of the rocks,et in voragines terræ,and into the caverns of the earth,a facie formidinis Dominifrom the presence of the dread of the Lord,et a gloria majestatis ejus,and from the glory of his majesty,cum surrexerit percutere terram.when he will have risen up to strike the earth.

In die illa projiciet homo idola argenti sui,In that day,et simulacra auri sui,man shall cast aside his idols of silver and his images of gold,quæ fecerat sibi ut adoraret,which he had made for himself,talpas et vespertiliones.as if to reverence the moles and the bats.

Et ingreditur scissuras petrarumAnd so he will go into the clefts of the rocks,et in cavernas saxorum,and into the caverns of stone,a facie formidinis Domini,from the presence of the dread of the Lord,et a gloria majestatis ejus,and from the glory of his majesty,cum surrexerit percutere terram.when he will have risen up to strike the earth.

Quiescite ergo ab homine,Therefore, rest away from man,cujus spiritus in naribus ejus est,whose breath is in his nostrils,quia excelsus reputatus est ipse.for he considers himself to be exalted.
