1In die illa visitabit Dominus in gladio suo duro,In that day,et grandi,the Lord will visit,et forti,with his harsh and great and strong sword,super Leviathan,against Leviathan,serpentem vectem,the barred serpent,et super Leviathan,and against Leviathan,serpentem tortuosum,the twisted serpent,et occidet cetum qui in mari est.and he will slay the whale that is in the sea.

2In die illa vinea meri cantabit ei.In that day, the vineyard of pure wine will sing to them.

3Ego Dominus qui servo eam;I am the Lord, who watches over it.repente propinabo ei.I will suddenly give drink to it.Ne forte visitetur contra eam,I will watch over it, night and day,nocte et die servo eam.lest perhaps someone visit against it.

4Indignatio non est mihi.Indignation is not mine.Quis dabit me spinam et veprem in prælio?Who will be a thorn and a brier to me in battle?gradiar super eam,I will advance against them.succendam eam pariter.I set them on fire together.

5An potius tenebit fortitudinem meam?Or will he, instead, take hold of my strength?faciet pacem mihi,Will he make peace with me?pacem faciet mihi.Will she make peace with me?

6Qui ingrediuntur impetu ad Jacob,As they advance with violence against Jacob,florebit et germinabit Israël,Israel will flourish and spring forth,et implebunt faciem orbis semine.and they will fill the face of the world with offspring.

7Numquid juxta plagam percutientis se percussit eum?Has he struck him with the scourge that he himself used to strike others?aut sicut occidit interfectos ejus, sic occisus est?Or has he killed in the manner that he himself used to kill his victims?

8In mensura contra mensuram, cum abjecta fuerit,You will judge this by comparing one measure to another,judicabis eam;when he has been cast out.meditatus est in spiritu suo duro per diem æstus.He has decided this, by his stern spirit, for the day of heat.

9Idcirco super hoc dimittetur iniquitas domui Jacob;Therefore, concerning this, the iniquity of the house of Jacob will be forgiven.et iste omnis fructus:And this is the reward of all:ut auferatur peccatum ejus,that their sin be taken away,cum posuerit omnes lapides altaris sicut lapides cineris allisos: non stabunt luci et delubra.when he will have made all the stones of the altar to be like crushed cinders. For the sacred groves and the shrines shall not stand.

10Civitas enim munita desolata erit;For the fortified city will be desolate.speciosa relinquetur, et dimittetur quasi desertum;The shining city will be abandoned and will be left behind like a desert.ibi pascetur vitulus,In that place, the calf will pasture,et ibi accubabit,and in that place, he will lie down,et consumet summitates ejus.and he will feed from its summits.

11In siccitate messes illius conterentur.Its harvest will be crushed by dryness.Mulieres venientes,Women will arrive and teach it,et docentes eam;for it is not a wise people.non est enim populus sapiens:Because of this,propterea non miserebitur ejus qui fecit eum,he who made it will not take pity on it,et qui formavit eum non parcet ei.and he who formed it will not spare it.

12Et erit:And this shall be: in that day,in die illa percutiet Dominus ab alveo fluminis usque ad torrentem Ægypti;the Lord will strike, from the channel of the river, even to the torrent of Egypt.et vos congregabimini unus et unus,And you shall be gathered together, one by one,filii Israël.O sons of Israel.

13Et erit:And this shall be:in die illa clangetur in tuba magna;in that day, a noise will be made with a great trumpet.et venient qui perditi fuerant de terra Assyriorum,And those who had been lost will approach from the land of the Assyrians,et qui ejecti erant in terra Ægypti,with those who had been outcasts in the land of Egypt.et adorabunt Dominum in monte sancto in Jerusalem.And they will adore the Lord, on the holy mountain, in Jerusalem.
