Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen,And the Lord spoke to Moseset Aaron, and Aaron, dicens:saying:

Homo, in cujus cute et carne ortus fuerit diversus color,The man in whose skin or flesh there will have arisen a diverse color, sive pustula,or a pustule, aut quasi lucens quippiam,or something that seems to shine,id est, plaga lepræ,which is the mark of leprosy, adducetur ad Aaron sacerdotem, shall be brought to Aaron the priest, vel ad unum quemlibet filiorum ejus.or to anyone you wish among his sons.

Qui cum viderit lepram in cute,And if he sees that leprosy is in his skin,et pilos in album mutatos colorem, and that the hair has turned a white color, ipsamque speciem lepræ humiliorem cute et carne reliqua:and that the place where the leprosy appears is lower than the rest of the skin and the flesh, plaga lepræ est, then it is the mark of leprosy,et ad arbitrium ejus separabitur.and at his judgment he shall be separated.

Sin autem lucens candor fuerit in cute,But if there will be a shining whiteness in the skin, nec humilior carne reliqua, but it is not lower than the rest of the flesh,et pili coloris pristini, and the hair is of unaffected color, recludet eum sacerdos septem diebus:the priest shall seclude him for seven days.

et considerabit die septimo:And on the seventh day he shall examine him,et si quidem lepra ultra non creverit, and if the leprosy certainly has not increased further, nec transierit in cute priores terminos, and has not spread itself in the skin, rursum recludet eum septem diebus aliis.he shall seclude him again, for another seven days.

Et die septimo contemplabitur:And on the seventh day, he shall evaluate him.si obscurior fuerit lepra,If the leprosy has become obscured,et non creverit in cute, and has not increased in the skin, mundabit eum, quia scabies est:he shall declare him clean, because it is a scab.lavabitque homo vestimenta sua,And the man shall wash his clothes,et mundus erit.and he shall be clean.

Quod si postquam a sacerdote visus est,But if the leprosy increases again,et redditus munditiæ,after he was seen by the priestiterum lepra creverit:and restored to cleanness, adducetur ad eum,he shall be brought to him,

et immunditiæ condemnabitur.and he shall be condemned of uncleanness.

Plaga lepræ si fuerit in homine,If the mark of leprosy has been in a man, adducetur ad sacerdotem,he shall be brought to the priest,

et videbit eum.and he shall look upon him.Cumque color albus in cute fuerit,And when there is a white color in the skin,et capillorum mutaverit aspectum, and it has an altered appearance in its hair, ipsa quoque caro viva apparuerit:and also the same flesh seems alive,

lepra vetustissima judicabitur,it shall be judged a chronic leprosy, atque inolita cuti.which has grown into the skin.Contaminabit itaque eum sacerdos,And so the priest shall declare him contaminated,et non recludet, and he shall not seclude him, quia perspicuæ immunditiæ est.because he is clearly unclean.

Sin autem effloruerit discurrens lepra in cute,But if the leprosy will have flourished, coursing through the skin,et operuerit omnem cutem a capite usque ad pedes, and will have covered all the skin from the head even to the feet, quidquid sub aspectum oculorum cadit, whatever falls under the sight of the eyes,

considerabit eum sacerdos, the priest shall examine him,et teneri lepra mundissima judicabit:and he shall judge that the leprosy that he possesses is very clean,eo quod omnis in candorem versa sit, because it has all turned to whiteness,et idcirco homo mundus erit.and for this reason the man shall be clean.

Quando vero caro vivens in eo apparuerit,Yet truly, when the living flesh shall appear in him,

tunc sacerdotis judicio polluetur, then by the judgment of the priest he shall be polluted,et inter immundos reputabitur:and he shall be considered to be among the unclean.caro enim viva,For the live flesh,si lepra aspergitur,if it is spotted with leprosy, immunda est.is unclean.

Quod si rursum versa fuerit in alborem,And if again it will have turned into whiteness,et totum hominem operuerit, and will have covered the entire man,

considerabit eum sacerdos, the priest shall examine him,et mundum esse decernet.and he shall discern him to be clean.

Caro autem et cutis in qua ulcus natum est,But when there has been an ulcer in the flesh and the skin,et sanatum, and it has healed,

et in loco ulceris cicatrix alba apparuerit, and in the place of the ulcer, sive subrufa, there appears a white or reddish scar, adducetur homo ad sacerdotem.the man shall be brought to the priest.

Qui cum viderit locum lepræ humiliorem carne reliqua,And when he will have seen the place of the leprosy lower than the rest of the flesh,et pilos versos in candorem, and that the hair has turned white, contaminabit eum:he shall declare him contaminated.plaga enim lepræ orta est in ulcere. For the plague of leprosy has arisen from the ulcer.

Quod si pilus coloris est pristini,But if the hair is of the usual color,et cicatrix subobscura, and the scar is somewhat obscureet vicina carne non est humilior, and is not lower than the nearby flesh, recludet eum septem diebus:he shall seclude him for seven days.

et si quidem creverit,And if it will have certainly increased, adjudicabit eum lepræ;he shall judge him to have leprosy.

sin autem steterit in loco suo,But if it stays in its place, ulceris est cicatrix,it is the scar of an ulcer,et homo mundus erit.and the man shall be clean.

Caro autemBut if flesh and skin has been burned by fire,et cutis, and, quam ignis exusserit, having been healed,et sanata albam sive rufam habuerit cicatricem, now has a white or red scar,

considerabit eam sacerdos:the priest shall examine it,et ecce versa est in alborem, and if he sees that it has turned white,et locus ejus reliqua cute est humilior, and that its place is lower than the rest of the skin, contaminabit eum,he shall declare him contaminated, quia plaga lepræ in cicatrice orta est.for the mark of leprosy has arisen in the scar.

Quod si pilorum color non fuerit immutatus,But if the color of the hair has not been changed, nec humilior plaga carne reliqua, nor is the mark lower than the rest of the flesh,et ipsa lepræ species fuerit subobscura, and the leprosy itself appears to be somewhat obscure, recludet eum septem diebus,he shall seclude him for seven days,

et die septimo contemplabitur:and on the seventh day he shall evaluate him.si creverit in cute lepra,If the leprosy will have increased further in the skin, contaminabit eum.he shall declare him contaminated.

Sin autem in loco suo candor steterit non satis clarus,But if the whiteness stays in its place and is not very clear, plaga combustionis est,it is the mark of a burn,et idcirco mundabitur, and for this reason he shall be declared clean, quia cicatrix est combusturæ.because it is only the scar from a burn.

Vir,If leprosy will have sprung up in the headsive mulier,or the beard of a manin cujus capite vel barba germinaverit lepra,or woman, videbit eos sacerdos.the priest shall look upon them,

Et si quidem humilior fuerit locus carne reliqua, and if the place is certainly lower than the rest of the flesh,et capillus flavus, and the hair is golden, solitoque subtilior, and thinner than usual, contaminabit eos,he shall declare them contaminated, quia lepra capitis ac barbæ est.because it is the leprosy of the head and the beard.

Sin autem viderit locum maculæ æqualem vicinæ carni,But if he sees that the place of the spot is equal with the nearby flesh,et capillum nigrum:and that the hair is black, recludet eum septem diebus,he shall seclude him for seven days,

et die septimo intuebitur.and on the seventh day he shall examine it.Si non creverit macula,If the spot has not increased,et capillus sui coloris est,and the hair has kept its color,et locus plagæ carni reliquæ æqualis:and the place of the mark is equal with the rest of the flesh,

radetur homo absque loco maculæ,the man shall be shaven, except in the place of the spot,et includetur septem diebus aliis.and he shall be secluded for another seven days.

Si die septimo visa fuerit stetisse plaga in loco suo,On the seventh day, if the mark seems to have stayed in its place, nec humilior carne reliqua, and it is not lower than the rest of the flesh, mundabit eum:he shall declare him clean, lotisque vestibus suis, and, his clothes having been washed, mundus erit.he shall be clean.

Sin autem post emundationem rursus creverit macula in cute,But if, after his cleansing, the spot will have increased again in the skin,

non quæret amplius utrum capillus in flavum colorem sit immutatus,he shall no longer inquire as to whether the hair has turned yellow, quia aperte immundus est.because he is plainly unclean.

Porro si steterit macula,Furthermore, if the spot has not increased,et capilli nigri fuerint, and the hair is black, noverit hominem sanatum esse, let him know that the man is healed:et confidenter eum pronuntiet mundum.and let him confidently pronounce him clean.

Vir, sive mulier, in cujus cute candor apparuerit,If a whiteness will have appeared in the skin of a man or a woman,

intuebitur eos sacerdos.the priest shall examine them.Si deprehenderit subobscurum alborem lucere in cute,If he detects an obscured whiteness shining in the skin, sciat non esse lepram, may he know that it is not leprosy, sed maculam coloris candidi, but a white-colored blemish,et hominem mundum.and that the man is clean.

Vir, de cujus capite capilli fluunt, calvus et mundus est:The man whose hair falls off of his head is bald and clean.

et si a fronte ceciderint pili,And if the hair falls off of his forehead, recalvaster et mundus est.he is bald in front and clean.

Sin autem in calvitio sive in recalvatione albus vel rufus color fuerit exortus,But if in the bald head or bald forehead there has arisen a white or reddish color,

et hoc sacerdos viderit, and the priest will have seen this, condemnabit eum haud dubiæ lepræ,he shall condemn him without doubt of leprosy,quæ orta est in calvitio.which has arisen in the baldness.

Quicumque ergo maculatus fuerit lepra,Therefore, whoever will have been spotted by leprosy,et separatus est ad arbitrium sacerdotis, and who has been separated at the judgment of the priest,

habebit vestimenta dissuta, shall have his clothes unstitched, caput nudum, his head bare,os veste contectum, his mouth covered with a cloth, contaminatum ac sordidum se clamabit.and he himself shall cry out that he is contaminated and filthy.

Omni tempore quo leprosus est et immundus,The entire time that he is a lepersolus habitabit extra castra.and unclean he shall live alone outside the camp.

Vestis lanea sive linea,A woolenquæ lepram habuerit,or linen garment that will have held the leprosy,

in stamine atque subtegmine,in the main fibers or in any of the threads, aut certe pellis,or certainly in a skin, vel quidquid ex pelle confectum est,or whatever has been made from a skin,

si alba vel rufa macula fuerit infecta,if it has been infected with a white or red spot, lepra reputabitur,it shall be considered to be leprosy, ostendeturque sacerdoti:and it shall be shown to the priest.

qui consideratam recludet septem diebus:And he, having examined it, shall close it up for seven days.

et die septimo rursus aspiciens,And on the seventh day, having looked at it again,si deprehenderit crevisse,if he detects an increase, lepra perseverans est:it is a persistent leprosy;pollutum judicabit vestimentum,he shall judge the garment to be polluted,et omne in quo fuerit inventa:along with everything with which it has been found.

et idcirco comburetur flammis. And because of this, it shall be burned in flames.

Quod si eam viderit non crevisse,But if he will have seen that it has not increased,

præcipiet,he shall instruct them,et lavabunt id in quo lepra est,and they shall wash whatever has the leprosy in it,recludetque illud septem diebus aliis.and he shall close it up for another seven days.

Et cum viderit faciem quidem pristinam non reversam,And when he will have seen that the former appearance has not returned, nec tamen crevisse lepram, even if the leprosy has not increased, immundum judicabit,he shall judge it to be unclean,et igne comburet, and he shall burn it with fire,eo quod infusa sit in superficie vestimenti, for the leprosy has been infused in the exterior of the garment, vel per totum, lepra.or throughout the whole.

Sin autem obscurior fuerit locus lepræ,But if the place of the leprosy has become somewhat darker, postquam vestis est lota, after the garment has been washed, abrumpet eum,he shall tear it away,et a solido dividet.and separate it from the part that is sound.

Quod si ultra apparuerit in his locis,But if,quæ prius immaculata erant, after this, lepra volatilisthere will appear in those places which before were immaculate,et vaga,a flying and wandering leprosy, debet igne comburi.it must be burned with fire.

Si cessaverit,If it will have ceased, lavabit aqua ea, quæ pura sunt, secundo,he shall wash with water the parts which are pure for a second time,et munda erunt.and they shall be clean.

Ista est lex lepræ vestimenti lanei et linei,This is the law about leprosy for any woolen or linen garment, staminis, atque subtegminis,in the weave and in the threads, omnisque supellectilis pelliceæ,and for all items made from skins, quomodo mundari debeat, vel contaminari.how it must be declared either clean or contaminated.
