Ego Dominus Deus vester:I am the Lord your God.non facietis vobis idolum,You shall not make for yourselves an idolet sculptile,or a graven image.nec titulos erigetis,Neither shall you erect a monument, nec insignem lapidem ponetis in terra vestra,or set up a conspicuous stone in your land,ut adoretis eum.in order that you may adore it.Ego enim sum Dominus Deus vester. For I am the Lord your God.

Custodite sabbata mea,Observe my Sabbaths,et pavete ad sanctuarium meum.and be fearful toward my Sanctuary.Ego Dominus.I am the Lord.

Si in præceptis meis ambulaveritis,If you will walk in my precepts,et mandata mea custodieritis, and observe my commandments,et feceritis ea,and accomplish them, dabo vobis pluvias temporibus suis,I will give to you rain in its time,

et terra gignet germen suum, and the ground shall bring forth its seedlings,et pomis arbores replebuntur.and the trees shall be filled again with fruit.

Apprehendet messium tritura vindemiam,The threshing of the harvest shall last until the vintage,et vindemia occupabit sementem:and the vintage shall overtake the sowing.et comedetis panem vestrum in saturitate,And you shall eat your bread to fullness,et absque pavore habitabitis in terra vestra.and you shall live in your land without fear.

Dabo pacem in finibus vestris:I will give peace to your most distant regions.dormietis,You will sleep,et non erit qui exterreat.and there will be no one to strike you with terror.Auferam malas bestias,I will take away harmful wild beasts,et gladius non transibit terminos vestros.and the sword will not cross your borders.

Persequemini inimicos vestros,You will pursue your enemies,et corruent coram vobis.and they will fall down at the sight of you.

Persequentur quinque de vestris centum alienos,Five of yours will pursue a hundred foreigners,et centum de vobis decem millia:and a hundred of you will pursue ten thousand.cadent inimici vestri gladio in conspectu vestro.Your enemies will fall by the sword in your sight.

Respiciam vos,I will look with favor upon you,et crescere faciam:and I will cause you to increase;multiplicabimini, you will be multiplied,et firmabo pactum meum vobiscum.and I will confirm my covenant with you.

Comedetis vetustissima veterum,You will eat the oldest of what is old, and,et vetera novis supervenientibus projicietis.when what is new arrives, you will throw away what is old.

Ponam tabernaculum meum in medio vestri,I will set my tabernacle in your midst,et non abjiciet vos anima mea.and my soul will not cast you out.

Ambulabo inter vos,I will walk among you,et ero Deus vester, and I will be your God,vosque eritis populus meus.and you shall be my people.

Ego Dominus Deus vester,I am the Lord your God,qui eduxi vos de terra Ægyptiorum, who led you away from the land of the Egyptians,ne serviretis eis:lest you serve them,et qui confregi catenas cervicum vestrarum, and who broke the chains around your necks,ut incederetis erecti.so that you would walk upright.

Quod si non audieritis me,But if you will not listen to me,nec feceritis omnia mandata mea,nor accomplish all of my commandments,

si spreveritis leges meas,if you despise my laws,et judicia mea contempseritis, and disdain my judgments,ut non faciatis ea quæ a me constituta sunt,so that you do not accomplish those things which have been established by me,et ad irritum perducatis pactum meum:and so that you lead my covenant away into nullification,

ego quoque hæc faciam vobis:then I also will do these things to you.visitabo vos velociter in egestate,I will quickly visit you with destitution,et ardore, and burning heat, qui conficiat oculos vestros, which will waste away your eyes,et consumat animas vestras.and consume your lives.Frustra seretis sementem,In vain will you sow your seed,quæ ab hostibus devorabitur.which will be devoured by your enemies.

Ponam faciem meam contra vos,I will set my face against you,et corruetis coram hostibus vestris, and you will fall down before your enemies,et subjiciemini his qui oderunt vos:and you will be subjugated to those who hate you.fugietis,You will flee, nemine persequente.though no one pursues.

Sin autem nec sic obedieritis mihi,But if you will not be obedient to me in this way, addam correptiones vestras septuplum propter peccata vestra, then I will add sevenfold to your chastisement, because of your sins.

et conteram superbiam duritiæ vestræ.And I will crush the pride in your hardness,Daboque vobis cælum desuper sicut ferrum, and I will give to you heaven above like iron,et terram æneam.and the earth below like brass.

Consumetur incassum labor vester,Your labor will be consumed to no purpose;non proferet terra germen, the land will not bring forth seedlings, nec arbores poma præbebunt.nor will the trees provide their fruit.

Si ambulaveritis ex adverso mihi, nec volueritis audire me,If you walk as an adversary to me, and if you are not willing to listen to me,addam plagas vestras in septuplum propter peccata vestra:I will add sevenfold to your plagues, because of your sins.

immittamque in vos bestias agri,And I will send upon you the wild beasts of the field,quæ consumant vos, which will consume youet pecora vestra, and your cattle,et ad paucitatem cuncta redigant, and which will reduce everything to paucity, desertæque fiant viæ vestræ.and cause your roadways to become desolate.

Quod si nec sic volueritis recipere disciplinam,But if you are not willing to receive discipline in this way,sed ambulaveritis ex adverso mihi:and you still walk as an adversary to me,

ego quoque contra vos adversus incedam, likewise, I will advance against you as an adversary,et percutiam vos septies propter peccata vestra, and I will strike you seven times, because of your sins.

inducamque super vos gladium ultorem fœderis mei.And I will lead over you the sword that shall avenge my covenant.Cumque confugeritis in urbes,And when you will have fled into the cities, mittam pestilentiam in medio vestri,I will send a pestilence into your midst,et trademini in manibus hostium, and you will be delivered into the hands of your enemies.

postquam confregero baculum panis vestri:After this, ita ut decem mulieres in uno clibano coquant panes,I will have broken the staff of your bread,et reddant eos ad pondus:so that ten women bake bread in one oven,et comedetis, and distribute it by weight.et non saturabimini. And you shall eat and not be filled.

Sin autem nec per hæc audieritis me,Then, if you will not listen to me through these things, sed ambulaveritis contra me:and you still walk against me,

et ego incedam adversus vos in furore contrario, then I also will advance against you, with an opposing fury,et corripiam vos septem plagis propter peccata vestra:and I will chastise you with seven plagues, because of your sins:

ita ut comedatis carnes filiorum vestrorum et filiarum vestrarum.so much so that you will eat the flesh of your sons and your daughters.

Destruam excelsa vestra,I will destroy your high places,et simulacra confringam.and I will break apart your false images.Cadetis inter ruinas idolorum vestrorum,You will fall among the ruins of your idols,et abominabitur vos anima mea,and my soul will abominate you:

in tantum ut urbes vestras redigam in solitudinem,so much so that I will reduce your cities to a wilderness,et deserta faciam sanctuaria vestra, and I will make your Sanctuaries desolate, nec recipiam ultra odorem suavissimum.and I will no longer accept the most sweet odors.

Disperdamque terram vestram,And I will utterly ruin your land,et stupebunt super ea inimici vestri, and your enemies shall be stupefied at it,cum habitatores illius fuerint.when they will have become its inhabitants.

Vos autem dispergam in gentes,Then I will scatter you among the Gentiles,et evaginabo post vos gladium, and I will unsheathe the sword after you.eritque terra vestra deserta,And your land will be deserted,et civitates vestræ dirutæ.and your cities will be demolished.

Tunc placebunt terræ sabbata sua cunctis diebus solitudinis suæ:Then the land will be pleased by her Sabbaths, throughout all the days of her solitude.quando fueritisSo, while you will be

in terra hostili,in the land of the enemy, sabbatizabit, she will worship and rest in the Sabbath of her solitude,et requiescet in sabbatis solitudinis suæ,because she will not have rested in your Sabbaths,eo quod non requieverit in sabbatis vestris quando habitabatis in ea.when you lived in her.

Et qui de vobis remanserint,And whoever of you will remain, dabo pavorem in cordibus eorum in regionibus hostium,I will send terror into their hearts in the regions of their enemies.terrebit eos sonitus folii volantis,The sound of a flying leaf will terrify them,et ita fugient quasi gladium:and so they will flee, as if from the sword.cadent, nullo persequente,They will fall, though no one pursues.

et corruent singuli super fratres suos,And they will each fall upon their brothers, quasi bella fugientes,as if they were fleeing from wars;nemo vestrum inimicis audebit resistere.no one among you will dare to resist your foes.

Peribitis inter gentes,You will perish among the Gentiles,et hostilis vos terra consumet.and the land of the enemy will consume you.

Quod si et de iis aliqui remanserint,But if some few of these still remain, tabescent in iniquitatibus suis, they shall waste away in their iniquities,in terra inimicorum suorum,in the land of their enemies,et propter peccata patrum suorum et sua affligentur:and they will be afflicted, because of the sins of their fathers and their own sins,

donec confiteantur iniquitates suas, until they confess their iniquities,et majorum suorum, and those of their ancestors, quibus prævaricati sunt in me,by which they have transgressed against meet ambulaverunt ex adverso mihi.and walked as adversaries to me.

Ambulabo igiturTherefore,et ego contra eos,I also will walk against them,et inducam illos in terram hostilem, and I will lead them into a hostile land, donec erubescat incircumcisa mens eorum:until their uncircumcised mind shall be ashamed.tunc orabunt pro impietatibus suis. Then shall they pray on behalf of their impiety.

Et recordabor fœderis mei,And I will remember my covenant, quod pepigi cum Jacob, which I formed with Jacob,et Isaac, and Isaac,et Abraham.and Abraham.Terræ quoque memor ero:I will also remember the land,

quæ cum relicta fuerit ab eis, which, when she will be left behind by them, complacebit sibi in sabbatis suis, shall be pleased by her Sabbaths, patiens solitudinem propter illos.enduring solitude because of them.Ipsi vero rogabunt pro peccatis suis,Yet truly, they shall pray for their sins,eo quod abjecerint judicia mea, because they cast aside my judgments,et leges meas despexerint.and they despised my laws.

Et tamen etiam cum essent in terra hostili,And even after so much, when they were in the land of their enemy, non penitus abjeci eos,I did not cast them off entirely, neque sic despexi ut consumerentur, and I did not so despise them that they would be consumed,et irritum facerent pactum meum cum eis.nor so that I would nullify my covenant with them.Ego enim sum Dominus Deus eorum,For I am the Lord their God.

et recordabor fœderis mei pristini,And I will remember my original covenant, when I led them away from the land of Egypt, quando eduxi eos de terra Ægypti in conspectu gentium,in the sight of the Gentiles, so as to be their God. I am the Lord.ut essem Deus eorum. These are the judgments,Ego Dominus.and precepts, and laws,Hæc sunt judicia atque præcepta et leges quas dedit Dominus inter se et filios Israël in monte Sinai per manum Moysi.which the Lord has granted between himself and the sons of Israel, on mount Sinai, by the hand of Moses.
