Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen,And the Lord spoke to Moses, dicens:saying:
Loquere filiis Israël,Speak to the sons of Israel,et dices ad eos:and you shall say to them:Homo qui votum fecerit, et spoponderit Deo animam suam, sub æstimatione dabit pretium. The man who will have made a vow and espoused his soul to God shall give the price according to the estimation.
Si fuerit masculus a vigesimo anno usque ad sexagesimum annum,If it is a male from twenty years to sixty years,dabit quinquaginta siclos argenti ad mensuram sanctuarii:he shall give fifty shekels of silver, by the measure of the Sanctuary;
si mulier,if it is a woman,triginta.thirty.
A quinto autem anno usque ad vigesimum,But from the fifth year until the twentieth, masculus dabit viginti siclos:a male shall give twenty shekels;femina,a female,decem.ten.
Ab uno mense usque ad annum quintum,From one month until the fifth year, pro masculo dabuntur quinque sicli:for a male, five shekels shall be given;pro femina, for a female,tres.three.
SexagenariusAt sixty years and beyond,et ultra masculus dabit quindecim siclos:a male shall give fifteen shekels;femina,a female,decem.ten.
Si pauper fuerit,If he is poor,et æstimationem reddere non valebit, and he does not have the means to pay the estimation, stabit coram sacerdote:he shall stand before the priest,et quantum ille æstimaverit, and however much he will value himet viderit eum posse reddere, and see that he is able to pay, tantum dabit.so much shall he give.
Animal autem, quod immolari potest Domino,But an animal which could be immolated to the Lord,si quis voverit,if anyone has vowed it,sanctum erit, shall be holy,
et mutari non poterit, and it cannot be exchanged,id est, that is,nec melius malo, neither better for worse, nec pejus bono:nor worse for better.quod si mutaverit,And if he has exchanged it,et ipsum quod mutatum est, both that which was exchanged,et illud pro quo mutatum est, consecratum erit Domino.and that for which it was exchanged shall be consecrated to the Lord.
Animal immundum, quod immolari Domino non potest,An unclean animal which could not be sacrificed to the Lord,si quis voverit,if anyone has vowed it,adducetur ante sacerdotem:shall be led before the priest,
qui judicans utrum bonum an malum sit, who, judging whether it is either good or bad, statuet pretium.shall set the price.
Quod si dare voluerit is qui offert,But if he who offers it was willing to give, addet supra æstimationem quintam partem.he shall add a fifth part above the estimation.
Homo si voverit domum suam,If a man has vowed his house,et sanctificaverit Domino, and he has sanctified it to the Lord, considerabit eam sacerdos utrum bona an mala sit,the priest shall examine it,et juxta pretium, whether it is goodquod ab eo fuerit constitutum,or bad, venundabitur:and it shall be sold according to the price which he will have established.
sin autem ille qui voverat, voluerit redimere eam,But if he who vowed it was willing to redeem it,dabit quintam partem æstimationis supra,he shall give a fifth part beyond the estimation,et habebit domum.and he shall have the house.
Quod si agrum possessionis suæ voverit,But if he has vowed a field of his possession,et consecraverit Domino, and has consecrated it to the Lord, juxta mensuram sementis æstimabitur pretium:the price shall be estimated according to the measure of the seed.si triginta modiis hordei seritur terra,If the land would be sown with thirty measures of barley, quinquaginta siclis venundetur argenti.then let it be sold for fifty shekels of silver.
Si statim ab anno incipientis jubilæi voverit agrum,If he has vowed his field beginning from the current year of Jubilee, quanto valere potest,as much as it may be worth, tanto æstimabitur.so shall it be estimated.
Sin autem post aliquantum temporis,But if, after some amount of time, supputabit sacerdos pecuniam juxta annorum, qui reliqui sunt, numerum usque ad jubilæum,the priest shall evaluate the money according to the number of years that remain until the Jubilee,et detrahetur ex pretio.then the price shall be reduced.
Quod si voluerit redimere agrum ille qui voverat,But if he who had vowed it, was willing to redeem his field, addet quintam partem æstimatæ pecuniæ,he shall add a fifth part of the money to the estimation,et possidebit eum.and then he shall possess it.
Sin autem noluerit redimere,But if he is not willing to redeem it,sed alteri cuilibet fuerit venundatus, then it shall be sold to any other;ultra eum qui voverat redimere non poterit.he who vowed it is no longer able to redeem it.
Quia cum jubilæi venerit dies,For when the day of Jubilee arrives, sanctificatus erit Domino,it shall be sanctified to the Lord.et possessio consecrata ad jus pertinet sacerdotum. And as a possession that has been consecrated, it rightfully belongs to the priest.
Si ager emptus est,If a field has been bought,et non de possessione majorum sanctificatus fuerit Domino, and it is not from the possession of ancestors, it shall be sanctified to the Lord.
supputabit sacerdos juxta annorum numerum usque ad jubilæum, pretium:The priest shall evaluate the price according to the number of years until the Jubilee;et dabit ille qui voverat eum, Domino.and the one who had vowed it shall give to the Lord.
In jubilæo autem revertetur ad priorem dominum,Then, in the Jubilee, it shall be returned to the former owner, qui vendiderat eum, et habuerat in sorte possessionis suæ.the one who had sold it and who had held it within the lot of his possession.
Omnis æstimatio siclo sanctuarii ponderabitur. All estimation shall be weighed according to the shekel of the Sanctuary.Siclus viginti obolos habet.A shekel has twenty obols.
Primogenita,The firstborn,quæ ad Dominum pertinent, which belong to the Lord, nemo sanctificare poterit et vovere:no one is able to sanctify or vow, sive bos, whether it is an ox,sive ovis fuerit,or a sheep,Domini sunt.they are for the Lord.
Quod si immundum est animal,But if it is an unclean animal, redimet qui obtulit, whoever offers it shall redeem it,juxta æstimationem tuam, according to your estimation,et addet quintam partem pretii:and he shall add a fifth part to the price.si redimere noluerit,If he is not willing to redeem it,vendetur alteri quantocumque a te fuerit æstimatum.it shall be sold to another for whatever amount it was estimated by you.
Omne quod Domino consecratur,All that is consecrated to the Lord, sive homo fuerit, whether it is a man, sive animal,or an animal, sive ager,or a field, non vendetur, shall not be sold;nec redimi poterit.neither is it able to be redeemed.Quidquid semel fuerit consecratum,Anything, once it has been consecrated,Sanctum sanctorum erit Domino:shall be the Holy of holies to the Lord.
et omnis consecratio,And all that has been consecrated,quæ offertur ab homine, which is offered by man,non redimetur, shall not be redeemed, sed morte morietur.but shall surely die.
Omnes decimæ terræ,All the tithes of the land, sive de frugibus, whether from the grain, sive de pomis arborum,or from the fruits of trees,Domini sunt, are for the Lordet illi sanctificantur.and are sanctified to him.
Si quis autem voluerit redimere decimas suas,But if anyone is willing to redeem his tithes, addet quintam partem earum.he shall add a fifth part to them.
Omnium decimarum bovis et ovis et capræ,Out of all the tithes of oxen, and sheep, and goats,quæ sub pastoris virga transeunt, which cross under the rod of the shepherd, quidquid decimum venerit, sanctificabitur Domino.every tenth one that arrives shall be sanctified to the Lord.
Non eligetur nec bonum nec malum,It shall not be chosen by what is good or bad;nec altero commutabitur, neither shall it be exchanged for another.si quis mutaverit:If anyone has exchanged it,et quod mutatum est, both that which was exchanged,et pro quo mutatum est,and that for which it was exchanged, sanctificabitur Domino, et non redimetur.shall be sanctified to the Lord and shall not be redeemed.
