Et ait ad discipulos suos:And he said to his disciples:Impossibile est ut non veniant scandala:“It is impossible for scandals not to occur.væ autem illi per quem veniunt. But woe to him through whom they come!

Utilius est illi si lapis molaris imponatur circa collum ejus,It would be better for him if a millstone were placed around his neck and he were thrown into the sea,et projiciatur in mare quam ut scandalizet unum de pusillis istis.than to lead astray one of these little ones.

Attendite vobis:Be attentive to yourselves.Si peccaverit in te frater tuus,If your brother has sinned against you, increpa illum:correct him.et si pœnitentiam egerit,And if he has repented, dimitte illi.forgive him.

Et si septies in die peccaverit in te,And if he has sinned against you seven times a day,et septies in die conversus fuerit ad te,and seven times a day has turned back to you, dicens:saying,Pœnitet me,‘I am sorry,’dimitte illi.then forgive him.”

Et dixerunt apostoli Domino:And the Apostles said to the Lord,Adauge nobis fidem.“Increase our faith.”

Dixit autem Dominus:But the Lord said:Si habueritis fidem sicut granum sinapis,“If you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, dicetis huic arbori moro:you may say to this mulberry tree,Eradicare,‘Be uprooted,et transplantare in mare, and be transplanted into the sea.’et obediet vobis. And it would obey you.

Quis autem vestrum habens servum arantem aut pascentem,But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, would say to him,qui regresso de agro dicat illi:as he was returning from the field,Statim transi,‘Come in immediately;recumbe:sit down to eat,’

et non dicat ei: Para quod cœnem, and would not say to him:et præcinge te,‘Prepare my dinner;et ministra mihi donec manducem, et bibam, gird yourself and minister to me, while I eat and drink;et post hæc tu manducabis, et bibes?and after these things, you shall eat and drink?’

Numquid gratiam habet servo illi,Would he be grateful to that servant, quia fecit quæ ei imperaverat?for doing what he commanded him to do?

non puto.I think not.Sic et vos cum feceritis omnia quæ præcepta sunt vobis,So too, dicite:when you have done all these things that have been taught to you,Servi inutiles sumus:you should say:quod debuimus facere,‘We are useless servants.fecimus.We have done what we should have done.’”

Et factum est,And it happened that, dum iret in Jerusalem, while he was traveling to Jerusalem, transibat per mediam Samariam et Galilæam.he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

Et cum ingrederetur quoddam castellum,And as he was entering a certain town, occurrerunt ei decem viri leprosi, ten leprous men met him,qui steterunt a longe:and they stood at a distance.

et levaverunt vocem, dicentes:And they lifted up their voice, saying,Jesu præceptor,“Jesus, Teacher, miserere nostri.take pity on us.”

Quos ut vidit,And when he saw them, dixit:he said,Ite,“Go,ostendite vos sacerdotibus.show yourselves to the priests.”Et factum est,And it happened that, dum irent,as they were going, mundati sunt.they were cleansed.

Unus autem ex illis,And one of them,ut vidit quia mundatus est, when he saw that he was cleansed, regressus est, returned, cum magna voce magnificans Deum, magnifying God with a loud voice.

et cecidit in faciem ante pedes ejus,And he fell face down before his feet, gratias agens:giving thanks.et hic erat Samaritanus. And this one was a Samaritan.

Respondens autem Jesus,And in response, dixit:Jesus said:Nonne decem mundati sunt?“Were not ten made clean?et novem ubi sunt? And so where are the nine?

Non est inventus qui rediret,Was no one found who would returnet daret gloriam Deo,and give glory to God,nisi hic alienigena.except this foreigner?”

Et ait illi:And he said to him:Surge,“Rise up,vade:go forth.quia fides tua te salvum fecit. For your faith has saved you.”

Interrogatus autem a pharisæis:Then he was questioned by the Pharisees:Quando venit regnum Dei?“When does the kingdom of God arrive?”respondens eis,And in response, dixit:he said to them:Non venit regnum Dei cum observatione:“The kingdom of God arrives unobserved.

neque dicent:And so, they will not say,Ecce hic,‘Behold, it is here,’aut ecce illic.or ‘Behold, it is there.’Ecce enim regnum Dei intra vos est.For behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”

Et ait ad discipulos suos:And he said to his disciples:Venient dies quando desideretis videre unum diem Filii hominis,“The time will come when you will desire to see one day of the Son of man,et non videbitis.and you will not see it.

Et dicent vobis:And they will say to you,Ecce hic,‘Behold, he is here,’et ecce illic.and ‘Behold, he is there.’Nolite ire, neque sectemini:Do not choose to go out, and do not follow them.

nam, sicut fulgur coruscans de sub cælo in ea quæ sub cælo sunt, fulget:For just as lightning flashes from under heaven and shines to whatever is under heaven, ita erit Filius hominis in die sua.so also will the Son of man be in his day.

Primum autem oportet illum multa pati,But first he must suffer many thingset reprobari a generatione hac.and be rejected by this generation.

Et sicut factum est in diebus Noë,And just as it happened in the days of Noah, ita erit et in diebus Filii hominis:so also will it be in the days of the Son of man.

edebant et bibebant:They were eating and drinking;uxores ducebant et dabantur ad nuptias, they were taking wives and being given in marriage, usque in diem, qua intravit Noë in arcam:even until the day that Noah entered the ark.et venit diluvium, et perdidit omnes. And the flood came and destroyed them all.

Similiter sicut factum est in diebus Lot:It shall be similar to what happened in the days of Lot.edebant et bibebant,They were eating and drinking;emebant et vendebant, they were buying and selling;plantabant et ædificabant:they were planting and building.

qua die autem exiit Lot a Sodomis,Then, pluit ignemon the day that Lot departed from Sodom,et sulphur de cælo,it rained fire and brimstone from heaven,et omnes perdidit:and it destroyed them all.

secundum hæc erit qua die Filius hominis revelabitur.According to these things, so shall it be in the day when the Son of man will be revealed.

In illa hora, qui fuerit in tecto,In that hour, whoever will be on the rooftop,et vasa ejus in domo, with his goods in the house,ne descendat tollere illa: et qui in agro, let him not descend to take them. And whoever will be in the field, similiter non redeat retro.similarly, let him not turn back.

Memores estote uxoris Lot.Remember Lot’s wife.

Quicumque quæsierit animam suam salvam facere,Whoever has sought to save his life, perdet illam:will lose it;et quicumque perdiderit illam, and whoever has lost it,vivificabit eam.will bring it back to life.

Dico vobis:I say to you,In illa nocte erunt duo in lecto uno:in that night, there will be two in one bed.unus assumetur,One will be taken up,et alter relinquetur:and the other will be left behind.

duæ erunt molentes in unum:Two will be at the grindstone together.una assumetur,One will be taken up,et altera relinquetur:and the other will be left behind.duo in agro:Two will be in the field.unus assumetur,One will be taken up,et alter relinquetur.and the other will be left behind.”

Respondentes dicunt illi:Responding, they said to him,Ubi Domine?“Where, Lord?”

Qui dixit illis:And he said to them,Ubicumque fuerit corpus,“Wherever the body will be,illuc congregabunturin that place also,et aquilæ.the eagles shall be gathered together.”
