Vespere autem sabbati,Now on the morning of the Sabbath,quæ lucescit in prima sabbati, when it began to grow light on the first Sabbath, venit Maria Magdalene, et altera Maria, videre sepulchrum.Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the sepulcher.

Et ecce terræmotus factus est magnus. And behold, a great earthquake occurred.Angelus enim Domini descendit de cælo:For an Angel of the Lord descended from heaven,et accedens revolvit lapidem, et sedebat super eum:and as he approached, he rolled back the stone and sat down on it.

erat autem aspectus ejus sicut fulgur:Now his appearance was like lightning,et vestimentum ejus sicut nix.and his vestment was like snow.

Præ timore autem ejus exterriti sunt custodes,Then, out of fear of him, the guards were terrified,et facti sunt velut mortui.and they became like dead men.

Respondens autem angelus dixit mulieribus:Then the Angel responded by saying to the women:Nolite timere vos:“Do not be afraid.scio enim, quod Jesum, qui crucifixus est,For I know that you are seeking Jesus,quæritis.who was crucified.

Non est hic:He is not here.surrexit enim,For he has risen, sicut dixit:just as he said.venite,Comeet videte locum ubi positus erat Dominus.and see the place where the Lord was placed.

Et cito euntes,And then, go quickly, dicite discipulis ejus quia surrexit:and tell his disciples that he has risen.et ecce præcedit vos in Galilæam:And behold, he will precede you to Galilee.ibi eum videbitis:There you shall see him.ecce prædixi vobis.Lo, I have told you beforehand.”

Et exierunt cito de monumento cum timoreAnd they went out of the tomb quickly,et gaudio magno, with fear and in great joy, currentes nuntiare discipulis ejus.running to announce it to his disciples.

Et ecce Jesus occurrit illis,And behold, dicens:Jesus met them,Avete.saying,Illæ autem accesserunt,“Hail.”et tenuerunt pedes ejus,But they drew near and took hold of his feet,et adoraverunt eum.and they adored him.

Tunc ait illis Jesus:Then Jesus said to them:Nolite timere: ite,“Do not be afraid. Go,nuntiate fratribus meis ut eant in Galilæam;announce it to my brothers, so that they may go to Galilee.ibi me videbunt. There they shall see me.”

Quæ cum abiissent,And when they had departed, ecce quidam de custodibus venerunt in civitatem, behold, some of the guards went into the city,et nuntiaverunt principibus sacerdotum omnia quæ facta fuerant.and they reported to the leaders of the priests all that had happened.

Et congregati cum senioribus consilio accepto,And gathering together with the elders, having taken counsel, pecuniam copiosam dederunt militibus, they gave an abundant sum of money to the soldiers,

dicentes:saying:Dicite quia discipuli ejus nocte venerunt,“Say that his disciples arrived at nightet furati sunt eum,and stole him away, nobis dormientibus.while we were sleeping.

Et si hoc auditum fuerit a præside,And if the procurator hears about this, nos suadebimus ei,we will persuade him,et securos vos faciemus.and we will protect you.”

At illi,Then, accepta pecunia, having accepted the money, fecerunt sicut erant edocti.they did as they were instructed.Et divulgatum est verbum istud apud Judæos,And this word has been spread among the Jews, usque in hodiernum diem.even to this day.

Undecim autem discipuli abierunt in Galilæam in montem ubi constituerat illis Jesus. Now the eleven disciples went on to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

Et videntes eum adoraverunt:And, seeing him, they worshipped him, quidam autem dubitaverunt.but certain ones doubted.

Et accedens Jesus locutus est eis,And Jesus, drawing near, spoke to them, dicens:saying:Data est mihi omnis potestas in cælo et in terra:“All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.

euntes ergo docete omnes gentes:Therefore, go forth and teach all nations, baptizantes eos in nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti:baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

docentes eos servare omnia quæcumque mandavi vobis:teaching them to observe all that I have ever commanded you.et ecce ego vobiscum sum omnibus diebus,And behold, I am with you always, usque ad consummationem sæculi.even to the consummation of the age.”
