³Si quis virorum votum Domino voverit,If any man makes a vow to the Lord,aut se constrinxerit juramento:or binds himself by an oath,non faciet irritum verbum suum,he shall not make his word null and void,sed omne quod promisit,but all that he has promised,implebit.he shall fulfill.

⁴Mulier si quippiam voverit,If a woman,et se constrinxerit juramento,who is in her father’s house,quæ est in domo patris sui,vows anything,et in ætate adhuc puellari:or binds herself by an oath,si cognoverit pater votum quod pollicita est,and she is still in a state of childhood,et juramentum quo obligavit animam suam,if her father knew of the vow which she has promised or of the oath by which she has obligated her soul,et tacuerit,and he kept silent,voti rea erit:she shall be liable to the vow:

⁶Sin autem statim ut audierit,But if her father,contradixerit pater:as soon as he had heard it,et votahad contradicted it,et juramenta ejus irrita erunt,both her vows and her oaths shall be nullified,nec obnoxia tenebitur sponsioni,neither shall she be held liable to the promise,eo quod contradixerit pater.because her father had contradicted it.
