1Attulerunt igitur arcam Dei,And so they took the ark of God,et constituerunt eam in medio tabernaculi quod tetenderat ei David:and they set it in the midst of the tabernacle,et obtulerunt holocaustawhich David had pitched for it.et pacifica coram Deo.And they offered holocausts and peace offerings before God.
2Cumque complesset David offerens holocausta et pacifica,And when David had completed offering holocausts and peace offerings,benedixit populo in nomine Domini.he blessed the people in the name of the Lord.
3Et divisit universis per singulos,And he divided to every single one,a viro usque ad mulierem,from men even to women,tortam panis,a twist of bread,et partem assæ carnis bubalæ,and a piece of roasted beef,et frixam oleo similam.and fine wheat flour fried with oil.
4Constituitque coram arca Domini de Levitis,And he appointed some from the Levites who would minister before the ark of the Lord,qui ministrarent,and commemorate his works,et recordarentur operum ejus,and glorify and praise the Lord,et glorificarent atque laudarent Dominum Deum Israël:the God of Israel.
5Asaph principem,Asaph was the leader,et secundum ejus Zachariam:and second to him was Zechariah.porro Jahiel,In addition,et Semiramoth,there were Jeiel,et Jehiel,and Shemiramoth,et Mathathiam,and Jehiel,et Eliab,and Mattithiah,et Banaiam,and Eliab,et Obededom:and Benaiah,Jehiel super organa psalteriiand Obededom.et lyras:And Jeiel was over the instruments of the psaltery and the harps.Asaph autem ut cymbalis personaret:But Asaph sounded out with the cymbals.
6Banaiam vero et Jaziel sacerdotes canere tuba jugiter coram arca fœderis Domini.Truly, the priests, Benaiah and Jahaziel, were to sound the trumpet continually before the ark of the covenant of the Lord.
7In illo die fecit David principem ad confitendum Domino Asaph et fratres ejus:In that day, David made Asaph the leader, in order to confess to the Lord with his brothers:
8Confitemini Domino,“Confess to the Lord,et invocate nomen ejus:and invoke his name.notas facite in populis adinventiones ejus.Make known his endeavors among the peoples.
9Cantate ei,Sing to him,et psallite ei,and sing psalms to him,et narrate omnia mirabilia ejus.and describe all his miracles.
10Laudate nomen sanctum ejus:Praise his holy name!lætetur cor quærentium Dominum.Let the heart of those who seek the Lord rejoice!
11Quærite Dominum,Seek the Lordet virtutem ejus:and his virtue.quærite faciem ejus semper.Seek his face always.
12Recordamini mirabilium ejus quæ fecit;Remember his miracles, which he has accomplished,signorum illius, et judiciorum oris ejus,his signs, and the judgments of his mouth.
13semen Israël servi ejus,O offspring of Israel, his servants!filii Jacob electi ejus.O sons of Jacob, his elect!
14Ipse Dominus Deus noster:He is the Lord our God.in universa terra judicia ejus.His judgments are throughout all the earth.
15Recordamini in sempiternum pacti ejus:Remember forever his covenant,sermonis quem præcepit in mille generationes,the word that he instructed unto a thousand generations,
16quem pepigit cum Abraham,the covenant that he formed with Abraham,et juramenti illius cum Isaac.and his oath with Isaac.
17Et constituit illud Jacob in præceptum,And he appointed the same to Jacob as a precept,et Israël in pactum sempiternum,and to Israel as an everlasting pact,
18dicens:saying:Tibi dabo terram Chanaan,‘To you, I will give the land of Canaan,funiculum hæreditatis vestræ:the lot of your inheritance.’
19cum essent pauci numero,At that time,parvithey were small in number,et coloni ejus.they were few and were settlers there.
20Et transierunt de gente in gentem,And they passed through, from nation to nation,et de regno ad populum alterum.and from one kingdom to another people.
21Non dimisit quemquam calumniari eos,He did not permit anyone to falsely accuse them.sed increpavit pro eis reges.Instead, he reproved kings on their behalf:
22Nolite tangere christos meos,‘Do not touch my Christ.et in prophetis meis nolite malignari.And do not malign my prophets.’
23Cantate Domino omnis terra;Sing to the Lord, all the earth!annuntiate ex die in diem salutare ejus:Announce his salvation, from day to day.
24narrate in gentibus gloriam ejus;Describe his glory among the Gentiles,in cunctis populis mirabilia ejus.his miracles among all the peoples.
25Quia magnus Dominus,For the Lord is great and exceedingly praiseworthy.et laudabilis nimis,And he is terrible,et horribilis super omnes deos.above all gods.
26Omnes enim dii populorum idola:For all the gods of the peoples are idols.Dominus autem cælos fecit.But the Lord made the heavens.
27Confessio et magnificentia coram eo:Confession and magnificence are before him.fortitudo et gaudium in loco ejus.Strength and gladness are in his place.
28Afferte Domino,Bring to the Lord,familiæ populorum:O families of the peoples,afferte Domino gloriam et imperium.bring to the Lord glory and dominion.
29Date Domino gloriam;Give glory to the Lord,nomini ejus levate sacrificium,to his name. Lift up sacrifice,et venite in conspectu ejus:and approach before his sight.et adorate Dominum in decore sancto.And adore the Lord in holy attire.
30Commoveatur a facie ejus omnis terra:Let all the earth be moved before his face.ipse enim fundavit orbem immobilem.For he founded the globe immoveable.
31Lætentur cæli,Let the heavens rejoice,et exultet terra,and let the earth exult.et dicant in nationibus:And let them say among the nations,Dominus regnavit.‘The Lord has reigned.’
32Tonet mareLet the sea roar,et plenitudo ejus;with all its plenitude.exultent agri,Let the fields exult,et omnia quæ in eis sunt.with all that is in them.
33Tunc laudabunt ligna saltus coram Domino:Then the trees of the forest will give praise before the Lord.quia venit judicare terram.For he comes to judge the earth.
34Confitemini Domino,Confess to the Lord,quoniam bonus:for he is good.quoniam in æternum misericordia ejus.For his mercy is eternal.
35Et dicite:And say:Salva nos,‘Save us,Deus salvator noster,O God our savior!et congrega nos,And gather us together,et erue de gentibus:and rescue us from the nations,ut confiteamur nomini sancto tuo,so that we may confess to your holy name,et exultemus in carminibus tuis.and may exult in your songs.
36Benedictus Dominus Deus Israël,Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,ab æterno usque in æternum.from eternity to eternity.’Et dicat omnis populo:And let all the people say,Amen,‘Amen,’et hymnum Domino.and let them sing a hymn to the Lord.”
37Reliquit itaque ibi coram arca fœderis Domini Asaph et fratres ejus,And so, there before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, he left Asaph and his brothers,ut ministrarent in conspectu arcæ jugiter per singulos dies,so that they might minister in the sight of the ark continually, throughout each day,et vices suas.and in their turns.
38Porro Obededom,Now Obededomet fratres ejus sexaginta octo:and his brothers were sixty-eight.et Obededom filium Idithun,And he appointed Obededom,et Hosa,the son of Jeduthun,constituit janitores;and Hosah to be porters.
39Sadoc autem sacerdotem,But Zadok the priest,et fratres ejus sacerdotes,and his brothers the priests,coram tabernaculo Domini in excelso quod erat in Gabaon,were before the tabernacle of the Lord in the high place, which was in Gibeon,
40ut offerrent holocausta Domino super altare holocautomatis jugiter,so that they could offer holocausts to the Lord upon the altar of holocausts continually,mane et vespere,morning and evening,juxta omnia quæ scripta sunt in lege Domini,according to all that was written in the law of the Lord,quam præcepit Israëli.which he instructed to Israel.
41Et post eum Heman,And after him, Heman,et Idithun,and Jeduthun,et reliquos electos,and the remainder of the elect,unumquemque vocabulo suo ad confitendum Domino,each one by his name, were appointed to confess to the Lord:quoniam in æternum misericordia ejus.“For his mercy endures forever.”
42Heman quoqueAlso Heman and Jeduthun sounded the trumpet,et Idithun canentes tuba,and they played upon the cymbals,et quatientes cymbalaand upon every kind of musical instrument,et omnia musicorum organa ad canendum Deo:in order to sing praises to God.filios autem Idithun fecit esse portarios.But the sons of Jeduthun he made to be porters.
43Reversusque est omnis populus in domum suam:And all the people returned to their houses,et David,and David also,ut benediceret etiam domui suæ.so that he might bless his own house too.
