In finem.Unto the end.Psalmus David.A Psalm of David.
Domine,In your virtue,in virtute tua lætabitur rex,Lord, the king will rejoice,et super salutare tuum exsultabit vehementer.and over your salvation, he will exult exceedingly.
Desiderium cordis ejus tribuisti ei,You have granted him the desire of his heart,et voluntate labiorum ejus non fraudasti eum.and you have not cheated him of the wish of his lips.
Quoniam prævenisti eum in benedictionibus dulcedinis; For you have gone ahead of him with blessings of sweetness.posuisti in capite ejus coronam de lapide pretioso. You have placed a crown of precious stones on his head.
Vitam petiit a te,He petitioned you for life,et tribuisti ei longitudinem dierum, and you have granted him length of days,in sæculum,in the present time,et in sæculum sæculi.and forever and ever.
Magna est gloria ejus in salutari tuo;Great is his glory in your salvation.gloriamGlory and great adornment,et magnum decorem impones super eum.you will lay upon him.
Quoniam dabis eum in benedictionem in sæculum sæculi; For you will give him as a blessing forever and ever.lætificabis eum in gaudio cum vultu tuo.You will make him rejoice with gladness in your presence.
Quoniam rex sperat in Domino,Because the king hopes in the Lord,et in misericordia Altissimi non commovebitur.and in the mercy of the Most High, he will not be disturbed.
Inveniatur manus tua omnibus inimicis tuis;May your hand be found by all your enemies.dextera tua inveniat omnes qui te oderunt.May your right hand discover all those who hate you.
Pones eos ut clibanum ignis in tempore vultus tui:You will make them like an oven of fire, in the time of your presence.Dominus in ira sua conturbabit eos,The Lord will stir them up with his wrath,et devorabit eos ignis.and fire will devour them.
Fructum eorum de terra perdes,You will destroy their fruit from the earthet semen eorum a filiis hominum, and their offspring from the sons of men.
quoniam declinaverunt in te mala; For they have turned evils upon you;cogitaverunt consilia quæ non potuerunt stabilire.they have devised plans, which they have not been able to accomplish.
Quoniam pones eos dorsum; For you will make them turn their back;in reliquiis tuis præparabis vultum eorum.with your remnants, you will prepare their countenance.
Exaltare,Be exalted,Domine,Lord,in virtute tua;by your own power.cantabimus et psallemus virtutes tuas.We will play music and sing psalms to your virtues.
