In finem,Unto the end.pro susceptione matutina. For the tasks of early morning.Psalmus David.A Psalm of David.
Deus,O God,Deus meus,my God,respice in me:look upon me.quare me dereliquisti? Why have you forsaken me?longe a salute mea verba delictorum meorum.Far from my salvation are the words of my offenses.
Deus meus,My God,clamabo per diem,I will cry out by day,et non exaudies;and you will not heed,et nocte, and by night,et non ad insipientiam mihi.and it will not be foolishness for me.
Tu autem in sancto habitas,But you dwell in holiness, laus Israël.O Praise of Israel.
In te speraverunt patres nostri; In you, our fathers have hoped.speraverunt,They hoped,et liberasti eos.and you freed them.
Ad te clamaverunt,They cried out to you,et salvi facti sunt;and they were saved.in te speraverunt,In you,et non sunt confusi.they hoped and were not confounded.
Ego autem sum vermis,But I am a wormet non homo;and not a man:opprobrium hominum,a disgrace among men,et abjectio plebis.and an outcast of the people.
Omnes videntes me deriserunt me;All those who saw me have derided me.locuti sunt labiis,They have spoken with the lipset moverunt caput.and shook the head.
Speravit in Domino,He has hoped in the Lord, eripiat eum:let him rescue him.salvum faciat eum, quoniam vult eum.Let him save him because he chooses him.
Quoniam tu es qui extraxisti me de ventre,For you are the one who has drawn me out of the womb, spes mea ab uberibus matris meæ.my hope from the breasts of my mother.
In te projectus sum ex utero;I have been thrown upon you from the womb;de ventre matris meæ Deus meus es tu:from the womb of my mother, you are my God.
ne discesseris a me,Do not depart from me.quoniam tribulatio proxima est,For tribulation is near, quoniam non est qui adjuvet.since there is no one who may help me.
Circumdederunt me vituli multi; Many calves have surrounded me;tauri pingues obsederunt me.fat bulls have besieged me.
Aperuerunt super me os suum,They have opened their mouths over me,sicut leo rapiens et rugiens.just like a lion seizing and roaring.
Sicut aqua effusus sum,And so, I have been poured out like water,et dispersa sunt omnia ossa mea:and all my bones have been scattered.factum est cor meum tamquam cera liquescens in medio ventris mei.My heart has become like wax, melting in the midst of my chest.
Aruit tamquam testa virtus mea,My strength has dried up like clay,et lingua mea adhæsit faucibus meis:and my tongue has adhered to my jaws.et in pulverem mortis deduxisti me.And you have pulled me down, into the dust of death.
Quoniam circumdederunt me canes multi; For many dogs have surrounded me.concilium malignantium obsedit me.The council of the malicious has besieged me.Foderunt manus meas et pedes meos; They have pierced my hands and feet.
dinumeraverunt omnia ossa mea. They have numbered all my bones.Ipsi vero consideraverunt et inspexerunt me.And they have examined me and stared at me.
Diviserunt sibi vestimenta mea,They divided my garments among them,et super vestem meam miserunt sortem.and over my vestment, they cast lots.
Tu autem,But you,Domine,O Lord,ne elongaveris auxilium tuum a me;do not take your help far from me;ad defensionem meam conspice.be attentive to my defense.
Erue a framea, Deus,O God, rescue my soul from the spear, animam meam, et de manu canis unicam meam.and my only one from the hand of the dog.
Salva me ex ore leonis,Save me from the mouth of the lion,et a cornibus unicornium humilitatem meam.and my humility from the horns of the single-horned beast.
Narrabo nomen tuum fratribus meis;I will declare your name to my brothers.in medio ecclesiæ laudabo te.In the midst of the Church, I will praise you.
Qui timetis Dominum,You who fear the Lord,laudate eum;praise him.universum semen Jacob,All the offspring of Jacob,glorificate eum.glorify him.
Timeat eum omne semen Israël,May all the offspring of Israel fear him.quoniam non sprevit,For he has neither spurnedneque despexit deprecationem pauperis, nor despised the pleas of the poor.nec avertit faciem suam a me:Neither has he turned his face away from me.et cum clamarem ad eum,And when I cried out to him, exaudivit me.he heeded me.
Apud te laus mea in ecclesia magna; My praise is with you, within a great church.vota mea reddam in conspectu timentium eum.I will pay my vows in the sight of those who fear him.
Edent pauperes, et saturabuntur,The poor will eat and be satisfied,et laudabunt Dominum qui requirunt eum:and those who yearn for the Lord will praise him.vivent corda eorum in sæculum sæculi.Their hearts will live forever and ever.
ReminiscenturAll the ends of the earth will remember,et convertentur ad Dominum universi fines terræ;and they will be converted to the Lord.et adorabunt in conspectu ejus universæ familiæ gentium:And all the families of the Gentiles will adore in his sight.
quoniam Domini est regnum,For the kingdom belongs to the Lord,et ipse dominabitur gentium.and he will have dominion over the Gentiles.
Manducaverunt et adoraverunt omnes pingues terræ;All the fat of the earth have gnashed their teeth, and they have adored.in conspectu ejus cadent omnes qui descendunt in terram. In his sight, they will fall down, all those who descend to the ground.
Et anima mea illi vivet; And my soul will live for him,et semen meum serviet ipsi.and my offspring will serve him.
Annuntiabitur Domino generatio ventura; There will be announced for the Lord a future generation,et annuntiabunt cæli justitiam ejus populo qui nascetur, and the heavens will announce his justice to a people who will be born, quem fecit Dominus.whom the Lord has made.
