In finem.Unto the end.Psalmus David, pro extasi.A Psalm of David according to an ecstasy.

In te,In you,Domine, speravi;Lord, I have hoped;non confundar in æternum:let me never be confounded.in justitia tua libera me.In your justice, deliver me.

Inclina ad me aurem tuam;Incline your ear to me.accelera ut eruas me.Hasten to rescue me.Esto mihi in Deum protectorem,Be for me a protector Godet in domum refugii, and a house of refuge,ut salvum me facias:so as to accomplish my salvation.

quoniam fortitudo mea et refugium meum es tu;For you are my strength and my refuge;et propter nomen tuum deduces me et enutries me.and for the sake of your name, you will lead me and nourish me.

Educes me de laqueo hoc quem absconderunt mihi,You will lead me out of this snare, which they have hidden for me.quoniam tu es protector meus. For you are my protector.

In manus tuas commendo spiritum meum;Into your hands, I commend my spirit.redemisti me,You have redeemed me,Domine Deus veritatis.O Lord, God of truth.

Odisti observantes vanitates supervacue; You have hated those who practice emptiness to no purpose.ego autem in Domino speravi. But I have hoped in the Lord.

Exsultabo,I will exultet lætabor in misericordia tua,and rejoice in your mercy.quoniam respexisti humilitatem meam; For you have looked upon my humility;salvasti de necessitatibus animam meam.you have saved my soul from needfulness.

Nec conclusisti me in manibus inimici:And you have not enclosed me in the hands of the enemy.statuisti in loco spatioso pedes meos. You have set my feet in a spacious place.

Miserere mei,Have mercy on me,Domine,Lord, quoniam tribulor;for I am troubled.conturbatus est in ira oculus meus,My eye has been disturbed by wrath, anima mea, along with my soulet venter meus.and my gut.

Quoniam defecit in dolore vita mea,For my life has fallen into sorrow,et anni mei in gemitibus.and my years into sighing.Infirmata est in paupertate virtus mea,My virtue has been weakened in poverty,et ossa mea conturbata sunt.and my bones have been disturbed.

Super omnes inimicos meos factus sum opprobrium,I have become a disgrace among all my enemies,et vicinis meis valde, and even more so to my neighbors,et timor notis meis;and a dread to my acquaintances.qui videbant me foras fugerunt a me.Those who catch sight of me, flee away from me.

Oblivioni datus sum,I have become forgotten, tamquam mortuus a corde;like one dead to the heart.factus sum tamquam vas perditum:I have become like a damaged utensil.

quoniam audivi vituperationem multorum commorantium in circuitu. For I have heard the harsh criticism of many who linger in the area.In eo dum convenirent simul adversum me,While assembled together against me in that place, accipere animam meam consiliati sunt.they deliberated on how to take away my life.

Ego autem in te speravi,But I have hoped in you,Domine;O Lord.dixi:I said,Deus meus es tu;“You are my God.”

in manibus tuis sortes meæ:My fate is in your hands.eripe me de manu inimicorum meorum,Rescue me from the hand of my enemieset a persequentibus me.and from those who are persecuting me.

Illustra faciem tuam super servum tuum;Shine your face upon your servant.salvum me fac in misericordia tua.Save me in your mercy.

Domine,Do not let me be confounded, non confundar,Lord, quoniam invocavi te.for I have called upon you.Erubescant impii,Let the impious be ashamedet deducantur in infernum;and be drawn down into Hell.

muta fiant labia dolosa,May deceitful lips be silenced:quæ loquuntur adversus justum iniquitatem, those that speak iniquity against the just,in superbia,in arroganceet in abusione.and in abusiveness.

Quam magna multitudo dulcedinis tuæ,How great is the multitude of your sweetness,Domine,O Lord, quam abscondisti timentibus te;which you keep hidden for those who fear you, perfecisti eis qui sperant in te in conspectu filiorum hominum!which you have perfected for those who hope in you, in the sight of the sons of men.

Abscondes eos in abscondito faciei tuæ a conturbatione hominum; You hide them in the concealment of your face, from the disturbance of men.proteges eos in tabernaculo tuo,You protect them in your tabernacle,a contradictione linguarum.from the contradiction of tongues.

Benedictus Dominus,Blessed is the Lord.quoniam mirificavit misericordiam suam mihi in civitate munita. For he has shown his wonderful mercy to me, in a fortified city.

Ego autem dixi in excessu mentis meæ:But I said in the excess of my mind:Projectus sum a facie oculorum tuorum:“I have been cast away from the glance of your eyes.”ideo exaudisti vocem orationis meæ,And so, you heeded the voice of my prayer, dum clamarem ad te.while I was still crying out to you.

Diligite Dominum,Love the Lord, omnes sancti ejus, all you his saints.quoniam veritatem requiret Dominus,For the Lord will require truth,et retribuet abundanter facientibus superbiam.and he will abundantly repay those who act with arrogance.

Viriliter agite,Act manfully,et confortetur cor vestrum, and let your heart be strengthened, omnes qui speratis in Domino.all you who hope in the Lord.
