Psalmus cantici,A Canticle Psalm.in dedicatione domus David. In dedication to the house of David.
Exaltabo te,I will extol you,Domine,Lord, quoniam suscepisti me,for you have sustained me,nec delectasti inimicos meos super me.and you have not allowed my enemies to delight over me.
Domine Deus meus,O Lord my God,clamavi ad te,I have cried out to you,et sanasti me.and you have healed me.
Domine,Lord, eduxisti ab inferno animam meam;you led my soul away from Hell.salvasti me a descendentibus in lacum. You have saved me from those who descend into the pit.
Psallite Domino,Sing a psalm to the Lord, sancti ejus;you his saints,et confitemini memoriæ sanctitatis ejus.and confess with remembrance of his holiness.
Quoniam ira in indignatione ejus,For wrath is in his indignation,et vita in voluntate ejus:and life is in his will.ad vesperum demorabitur fletus,Toward evening, weeping will linger,et ad matutinum lætitia.and toward morning, gladness.
Ego autem dixi in abundantia mea:But I have said in my abundance:Non movebor in æternum.“I will never be disturbed.”
Domine,O Lord,in voluntate tua præstitisti decori meo virtutem;in your will, you made virtue preferable to beauty for me.avertisti faciem tuam a me,You turned your face away from me,et factus sum conturbatus.and I became disturbed.
Ad te,To you,Domine,Lord, clamabo,I will cry out.et ad Deum meum deprecabor. And I will make supplication to my God.
Quæ utilitas in sanguine meo,What use would there be in my blood, dum descendo in corruptionem?if I descend into corruption?numquid confitebitur tibi pulvis,Will dust confess to youaut annuntiabit veritatem tuam?or announce your truth?
Audivit Dominus,The Lord has heard,et misertus est mei;and he has been merciful to me.Dominus factus est adjutor meus. The Lord has become my helper.
Convertisti planctum meum in gaudium mihi; You have turned my mourning into gladness for me.conscidisti saccum meum,You have cut off my sackcloth,et circumdedisti me lætitia:and you have surrounded me with joy.
ut cantet tibi gloria mea,So then, may my glory sing to you,et non compungar.and may I not regret it.Domine Deus meus,O Lord, my God,in æternum confitebor tibi.I will confess to you for eternity.
