In finem.Unto the end.Intellectus David,The understanding of David.

cum venit Doëg Idumæus,When Doeg the Edomite cameet nuntiavit Sauli:and reported to Saul,Venit David in domum Achimelech.David went to the house of Ahimelech.

Quid gloriaris in malitia,Why do you glory in malice, qui potens es in iniquitate?you who are powerful in iniquity?

Tota die injustitiam cogitavit lingua tua;All day long your tongue thinks up injustice.sicut novacula acuta fecisti dolum.Like a sharp razor, you have wrought deceit.

Dilexisti malitiam super benignitatem; You have loved malice above goodness, iniquitatem magis quam loqui æquitatem.and iniquity more than speaking righteousness.

Dilexisti omnia verba præcipitationis; You have loved all precipitous words, lingua dolosa.you deceitful tongue.

Propterea Deus destruet te in finem;Because of this, evellet te,God will destroy you in the end.et emigrabit te de tabernaculo tuo,He will pull you up,et radicem tuam de terra viventium.and he will remove you from your tabernacle and your root from the land of the living.

Videbunt justi,The just will seeet timebunt;and be afraid,et super eum ridebunt, and they will laugh over him,et dicent:and say:

Ecce homo qui non posuit Deum adjutorem suum;“Behold the man who did not set God as his helper.sed speravit in multitudine divitiarum suarum,But he hoped in the multitude of his riches,et prævaluit in vanitate sua.and so he prevailed in his emptiness.”

Ego autem,But I,sicut oliva fructifera in domo Dei;like a fruitful olive tree in the house of God,speravi in misericordia Dei,have hoped in the mercy of God unto eternity,in æternum et in sæculum sæculi.and forever and ever.

Confitebor tibi in sæculum,I will confess to you forever, quia fecisti;because you have accomplished it.et exspectabo nomen tuum,And I will wait on your name, quoniam bonum est in conspectu sanctorum tuorum.for it is good in the sight of your saints.
