In finem.Unto the end.Psalmus David,A Psalm of David,
cum venit ad eum Nathan propheta, when Nathan the prophet came to him, quando intravit ad Bethsabee.after he went to Bathsheba.
Miserere mei,Be merciful to me,Deus,O God,secundum magnam misericordiam tuam;according to your great mercy. And,et secundum multitudinem miserationum tuarum, according to the plentitude of your compassion, dele iniquitatem meam.wipe out my iniquity.
Amplius lava me ab iniquitate mea,Wash me once again from my iniquity,et a peccato meo munda me.and cleanse me from my sin.
Quoniam iniquitatem meam ego cognosco,For I know my iniquity,et peccatum meum contra me est semper.and my sin is ever before me.
Tibi soli peccavi,Against you only have I sinned,et malum coram te feci;and I have done evil before your eyes.ut justificeris in sermonibus tuis,And so, you are justified in your words,et vincas cum judicaris.and you will prevail when you give judgment.
Ecce enim in iniquitatibus conceptus sum,For behold, I was conceived in iniquities,et in peccatis concepit me mater mea.and in sinfulness did my mother conceive me.
Ecce enim veritatem dilexisti; For behold, you have loved truth.incerta et occulta sapientiæ tuæ manifestasti mihi. The obscure and hidden things of your wisdom, you have manifested to me.
Asperges me hyssopo,You will sprinkle me with hyssop,et mundabor;and I will be cleansed.lavabis me,You will wash me,et super nivem dealbabor.and I will be made whiter than snow.
Auditui meo dabis gaudiumIn my hearing,et lætitiam, you will grant gladness and rejoicing.et exsultabunt ossa humiliata. And the bones that have been humbled will exult.
Averte faciem tuam a peccatis meis,Turn your face away from my sins,et omnes iniquitates meas dele.and erase all my iniquities.
Cor mundum crea in me,Create a clean heart in me,Deus,O God.et spiritum rectum innova in visceribus meis. And renew an upright spirit within my inmost being.
Ne projicias me a facie tua,Do not cast me away from your face;et spiritum sanctum tuum ne auferas a me.and do not take your Holy Spirit from me.
Redde mihi lætitiam salutaris tui,Restore to me the joy of your salvation,et spiritu principali confirma me.and confirm me with an unsurpassed spirit.
Docebo iniquos vias tuas,I will teach the unjust your ways,et impii ad te convertentur.and the impious will be converted to you.
Libera me de sanguinibus,Free me from blood,Deus,O God,Deus salutis meæ,the God of my salvation,et exsultabit lingua mea justitiam tuam.and my tongue will extol your justice.
Domine,O Lord, labia mea aperies, you will open my lips,et os meum annuntiabit laudem tuam.and my mouth will announce your praise.
Quoniam si voluisses sacrificium, dedissem utique; For if you had desired sacrifice, I would certainly have given it,holocaustis non delectaberis.but with holocausts, you will not be delighted.
Sacrificium Deo spiritus contribulatus;A crushed spirit is a sacrifice to God.cor contritum et humiliatum,A contrite and humbled heart,Deus,O God,non despicies.you will not spurn.
Benigne fac,Act kindly,Domine,Lord,in bona voluntate tua Sion,in your good will toward Zion,ut ædificentur muri Jerusalem.so that the walls of Jerusalem may be built up.
Tunc acceptabis sacrificium justitiæ,Then you will accept the sacrifice of justice, oblationesoblations,et holocausta;and holocausts.tunc imponent super altare tuum vitulos. Then they will lay calves upon your altar.
