Laus cantici David. The Praise of a Canticle,Qui habitat in adjutorio Altissimi,of David.in protectione Dei cæli commorabitur.Whoever dwells with the assistance of the Most High will abide in the protection of the God of heaven.

Dicet Domino:He will say to the Lord,Susceptor meus es tu,“You are my supporteret refugium meum;and my refuge.”Deus meus,My God,sperabo in eum.I will hope in him.

Quoniam ipse liberavit me de laqueo venantium,For he has freed me from the snare of those who go hunting,et a verbo aspero.and from the harsh word.

Scapulis suis obumbrabit tibi,He will overshadow you with his shoulders,et sub pennis ejus sperabis.and you will hope under his wings.

Scuto circumdabit te veritas ejus:His truth will surround you with a shield.non timebis a timore nocturno; You will not be afraid: before the terror of the night,

a sagitta volante in die, before the arrow flying in the day,a negotio perambulante in tenebris, before the troubles that wander in the darkness,ab incursu, nor of invasionet dæmonio meridiano.and the midday demon.

Cadent a latere tuo mille,A thousand will fall before your sideet decem millia a dextris tuis;and ten thousand before your right hand.ad te autem non appropinquabit.Yet it will not draw near you.

Verumtamen oculis tuis considerabis,So then, truly, you will consider with your eyes,et retributionem peccatorum videbis.and you will see the retribution of sinners.

Quoniam tu es,For you,Domine,O Lord, spes mea;are my hope.Altissimum posuisti refugium tuum. You have set the Most High as your refuge.

Non accedet ad te malum,Disaster will not draw near to you,et flagellum non appropinquabit tabernaculo tuo.and the scourge will not approach your tabernacle.

Quoniam angelis suis mandavit de te,For he has given his Angels charge over you,ut custodiant te in omnibus viis tuis.so as to preserve you in all your ways.

In manibus portabunt te,With their hands, they will carry you,ne forte offendas ad lapidem pedem tuum.lest you hurt your foot against a stone.

Super aspidem et basiliscum ambulabis,You will walk over the asp and the king serpent,et conculcabis leonem et draconem.and you will trample the lion and the dragon.

Quoniam in me speravit,Because he has hoped in me,liberabo eum;I will free him.protegam eum, quoniam cognovit nomen meum.I will protect him because he has known my name.

Clamabit ad me,He will cry out to me,et ego exaudiam eum;and I will heed him.cum ipso sum in tribulatione:I am with him in tribulation.eripiam eum,I will rescue him,et glorificabo eum.and I will glorify him.

Longitudine dierum replebo eum,I will fill him with length of days.et ostendam illi salutare meum. And I will reveal to him my salvation.
