Infirmum autem in fide assumite,But accept those who are weak in faith, non in disceptationibus cogitationum.without disputing about ideas.
Alius enim credit se manducare omnia:For one person believes that he may eat all things, qui autem infirmus est,but if another is weak, olus manducet.let him eat plants.
Is qui manducat, non manducantem non spernat:He who eats should not despise him who does not eat.et qui non manducat, manducantem non judicet:And he who does not eat should not judge him who eats.Deus enim illum assumpsit. For God has accepted him.
Tu quis es, qui judicas alienum servum?Who are you to judge the servant of another?domino suo stat, aut cadit:He stands or falls by his own Lord.stabit autem:But he shall stand.potens est enim Deus statuere illum. For God is able to make him stand.
Nam alius judicat diem inter diem:For one person discerns one age from the next.alius autem judicat omnem diem:But another discerns unto every age.unusquisque in suo sensu abundet.Let each one increase according to his own mind.
Qui sapit diem,He who understands the age,Domino sapit, understands for the Lord.et qui manducat,And he who eats,Domino manducat:eats for the Lord;gratias enim agit Deo.for he gives thanks to God.Et qui non manducat,And he who does not eat,Domino non manducat, does not eat for the Lord,et gratias agit Deo.and he gives thanks to God.
Nemo enim nostrum sibi vivit,For none of us lives for himself,et nemo sibi moritur.and none of us dies for himself.
Sive enim vivemus,For if we live,Domino vivimus:we live for the Lord, sive morimur, and if we die,Domino morimur.we die for the Lord.Sive ergo vivimus,Therefore, sive morimur, whether we live or die,Domini sumus.we belong to the Lord.
In hoc enim Christus mortuus est,For Christ died and rose again for this purpose:et resurrexit: ut et mortuorum et vivorum dominetur.that he might be the ruler of both the dead and the living.
Tu autem quid judicas fratrem tuum?So then, why do you judge your brother?aut tu quare spernis fratrem tuum?Or why do you despise your brother?omnes enim stabimus ante tribunal Christi. For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
Scriptum est enim:For it is written:Vivo ego,“As I live, dicit Dominus, says the Lord, quoniam mihi flectetur omne genu:every knee shall bend to me,et omnis lingua confitebitur Deo.and every tongue shall confess to God.”
Itaque unusquisque nostrum pro se rationem reddet Deo.And so, each one of us shall offer an explanation of himself to God.
Non ergo amplius invicem judicemus:Therefore, we should no longer judge one another.sed hoc judicate magis,Instead, judge this to a greater extent:ne ponatis offendiculum fratri, that you should not place an obstacle before your brother, vel scandalum.nor lead him astray.
Scio,I know,et confido in Domino Jesu, with confidence in the Lord Jesus, quia nihil commune per ipsum, that nothing is unclean in and of itself.nisi ei qui existimat quid commune esset,But to him who considers anything to be unclean, illi commune est.it is unclean to him.
Si enim propter cibum frater tuus contristatur,For if your brother is grieved because of your food, jam non secundum caritatem ambulas.you are not now walking according to love.Noli cibo tuo illum perdere, pro quo Christus mortuus est.Do not allow your food to destroy him for whom Christ died.
Non ergo blasphemetur bonum nostrum. Therefore, what is good for us should not be a cause of blasphemy.
Non est enim regnum Dei esca et potus: sed justitia,For the kingdom of God is not food and drink,et pax, et gaudium in Spiritu Sancto:but rather justice and peace and joy, in the Holy Spirit.
qui enim in hoc servit Christo,For he who serves Christ in this, placet Deo,pleases Godet probatus est hominibus.and is proven before men.
Itaque quæ pacis sunt, sectemur:And so, let us pursue the things that are of peace,et quæ ædificationis sunt, in invicem custodiamus.and let us keep to the things that are for the edification of one another.
Noli propter escam destruere opus Dei,Do not be willing to destroy the work of God because of food.omnia quidem sunt munda:Certainly, sed malum est homini, all things are clean.qui per offendiculum manducat. But there is harm for a man who offends by eating.
Bonum est non manducare carnem,It is good to refrain from eating meatet non bibere vinum, and from drinking wine, neque in quo frater tuus offenditur, and from anything by which your brother is offended, aut scandalizatur,or led astray, aut infirmatur.or weakened.
Tu fidem habes?Do you have faith?penes temetipsum habe coram Deo.It belongs to you, so hold it before God.Beatus qui non judicat semetipsum in eo quod probat.Blessed is he who does not judge himself in that by which he is tested.
Qui autem discernit,But he who discerns,si manducaverit,if he eats, damnatus est:is condemned, quia non ex fide. Omne autem, because it is not of faith.quod non est ex fide, peccatum est.For all that is not of faith is sin.
