Propter quod inexcusabilis es,For this reason, O man,o homo omnis qui judicas.each one of you who judges is inexcusable. In quo enim judicas alterum,For by that which you judge another, teipsum condemnas:you condemn yourself.eadem enim agis quæ judicas. For you do the same things that you judge.

Scimus enim quoniam judicium Dei est secundum veritatem in eos qui talia agunt. For we know that the judgment of God is in accord with truth against those who do such things.

Existimas autem hoc,But, O man,o homo, qui judicas eos qui talia agunt, when you judge those who do such things as you yourself also do,et facis ea, quia tu effugies judicium Dei?do you think that you will escape the judgment of God?

an divitias bonitatis ejus,Or do you despise the riches of his goodnesset patientiæ,and patienceet longanimitatis contemnis?and forbearance?ignoras quoniam benignitas Dei ad pœnitentiam te adducit?Do you not know that the kindness of God is calling you to repentance?

Secundum autem duritiam tuam, et impœnitens cor,But in accord with your hard and impenitent heart, thesaurizas tibi iram in die iræ, et revelationis justi judicii Dei,you store up wrath for yourself, unto the day of wrath and of revelation by the just judgment of God.

qui reddet unicuique secundum opera ejus:For he will render to each one according to his works:

iis quidem qui secundum patientiam boni operis,To those who, gloriam,in accord with patient good works,et honorem, seek glory and honor and incorruption,et incorruptionem quærunt, certainly, vitam æternam:he will render eternal life.

iis autem qui sunt ex contentione, et qui non acquiescunt veritati,But to those who are contentious and who do not acquiesce to the truth, credunt autem iniquitati, but instead trust in iniquity, ira et indignatio.he will render wrath and indignation.

Tribulatio et angustia in omnem animam hominis operantis malum,Tribulation and anguish are upon every soul of man that works evil:Judæi primum, the Jew first,et Græci:and also the Greek.

gloria autem,But gloryet honor, and honoret pax omni operanti bonum, and peace are for all who do what is good:Judæo primum, the Jew first,et Græco:and also the Greek.

non enim est acceptio personarum apud Deum. For there is no favoritism with God.

Quicumque enim sine lege peccaverunt,For whoever had sinned without the law, sine lege peribunt:will perish without the law.et quicumque in lege peccaverunt,And whoever had sinned in the law,per legem judicabuntur.will be judged by the law.

Non enim auditores legis justi sunt apud Deum,For it is not the hearers of the law who are just before God,sed factores legis justificabuntur.but rather it is the doers of the law who shall be justified.

Cum autem gentes,For when the Gentiles,quæ legem non habent, who do not have the law, naturaliter ea, quæ legis sunt, faciunt,do by nature those things which are of the law, ejusmodi legem non habentes, such persons, not having the law, ipsi sibi sunt lex:are a law unto themselves.

qui ostendunt opus legis scriptum in cordibus suis,For they reveal the work of the law written in their hearts, testimonium reddente illis conscientia ipsorum, while their conscience renders testimony about them,et inter se invicem cogitationibus accusantibus, and their thoughts within themselves also accuseaut etiam defendentibus,or even defend them,

in die, unto the day when God shall judge the hidden things of men,cum judicabit Deus occulta hominum, through Jesus Christ, secundum Evangelium meum per Jesum Christum.according to my Gospel.

Si autem tu Judæus cognominaris,But if you are called by name a Jew,et requiescis in lege, and you rest upon the law,et gloriaris in Deo,and you find glory in God,

et nosti voluntatem ejus, and you have known his will,et probas utiliora, and you demonstrate the more useful things, instructus per legem, having been instructed by the law:

confidis teipsum esse ducem cæcorum, you become confident within yourself that you are a guide to the blind, lumen eorum qui in tenebris sunt,a light to those who are in darkness,

eruditorem insipientium,an instructor to the foolish, magistrum infantium,a teacher to children, habentem formam scientiæ,because you have a type of knowledgeet veritatis in lege.and truth in the law.

Qui ergo alium doces,As a result, you teach others, teipsum non doces:but you do not teach yourself.qui prædicas non furandum, furaris:You preach that men should not steal, but you yourself steal.

qui dicis non mœchandum,You speak against adultery,mœcharis:but you commit adultery.qui abominaris idola,You abominate idols, sacrilegium facis:but you commit sacrilege.

qui in lege gloriaris,You would glory in the law,per prævaricationem legis Deum inhonoras.but through a betrayal of the law you dishonor God.

(Nomen enim Dei per vos blasphematur inter gentes,(For because of you the name of God is being blasphemed among the Gentiles, sicut scriptum est.)just as it was written.)

Circumcisio quidem prodest,Certainly, circumcision is beneficial,si legem observes:if you observe the law.si autem prævaricator legis sis,But if you are a betrayer of the law, circumcisio tua præputium facta est.your circumcision becomes uncircumcision.

Si igitur præputium justitias legis custodiat,And so, if the uncircumcised keep the justices of the law, nonne præputium illius in circumcisionem reputabitur?shall not this lack of circumcision be counted as circumcision?

et judicabit id quod ex natura est præputium,And that which is by nature uncircumcised, legem consummans,if it fulfills the law,te,should it not judge you,qui per litteram et circumcisionem prævaricator legis es?who by the letter and by circumcision are a betrayer of the law?

Non enim qui in manifesto,For a Jew is not he who seems so outwardly.Judæus est: neque quæ in manifesto, in carne,Neither is circumcision that which seems so outwardly, est circumcisio:in the flesh.

sed qui in abscondito, Judæus est:But a Jew is he who is so inwardly.et circumcisio cordis in spiritu,And circumcision of the heart is in the spirit, non littera:not in the letter.cujus laus non ex hominibus,For its praise is not of men,sed ex Deo est.but of God.
