Et cum aperuisset sigillum septimum,And when he had opened the seventh seal, factum est silentium in cælo, quasi media hora.there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.
Et vidi septem angelos stantes in conspectu Dei:And I saw seven Angels standing in the sight of God.et datæ sunt illis septem tubæ.And seven trumpets were given to them.
Et alius angelus venit,And another Angel approached,et stetit ante altare habens thuribulum aureum:and he stood before the altar, holding a golden censer.et data sunt illi incensa multa,And much incense was given to him,ut daret de orationibus sanctorum omnium super altare aureum,so that he might offer upon the golden altar, which is before the throne of God,quod est ante thronum Dei.the prayers of all the saints.
Et ascendit fumus incensorum de orationibus sanctorum de manu angeli coram Deo.And the smoke of the incense of the prayers of the saints ascended, in the presence of God, from the hand of the Angel.
Et accepit angelus thuribulum,And the Angel received the golden censer,et implevit illud de igne altaris, and he filled it from the fire of the altar,et misit in terram:and he cast it down upon the earth,et facta sunt tonitrua, and there were thunderset voces, and voiceset fulgura, and lightningset terræmotus magnus.and a great earthquake.
Et septem angeli, qui habebant septem tubas,And the seven Angels who hold the seven trumpets prepared themselves,præparaverunt se ut tuba canerent.in order to sound the trumpet.
Et primus angelus tuba cecinit,And the first Angel sounded the trumpet.et facta est grando,And there came hailet ignis, and fire, mista in sanguine, mixed with blood;et missum est in terram, and it was cast down upon the earth.et tertia pars terræ combusta est,And a third part of the earth was burned,et tertia pars arborum concremata est,and a third part of the trees was entirely burned up,et omne fœnum viride combustum est.and all the green plants were burned.
Et secundus angelus tuba cecinit:And the second Angel sounded the trumpet.et tamquam mons magnus igne ardens missus est in mare,And something like a great mountain, burning with fire, was cast down into the sea.et facta est tertia pars maris sanguis,And a third part of the sea became like blood.
et mortua est tertia pars creaturæ eorum, quæ habebant animas in mari,And a third part of the creatures that were living in the sea died.et tertia pars navium interiit. And a third part of the ships were destroyed.
Et tertius angelus tuba cecinit:And the third Angel sounded the trumpet.et cecidit de cælo stella magna,And a great star fell from heaven, ardens tamquam facula, burning like a torch.et cecidit in tertiam partem fluminum,And it fell upon a third part of the riverset in fontes aquarum:and upon the sources of water.
et nomen stellæ dicitur Absinthium,And the name of the star is called Wormwood.et facta est tertia pars aquarum in absinthium; And a third part of the waters were turned into wormwood.et multi hominum mortui sunt de aquis,And many men died from the waters, quia amaræ factæ sunt.because they were made bitter.
Et quartus angelus tuba cecinit:And the fourth Angel sounded the trumpet.et percussa est tertia pars solis,And a third part of the sun,et tertia pars lunæ,and a third part of the moon,et tertia pars stellarum, and a third part of the stars were struck, ita ut obscuraretur tertia pars eorum,in such a way that a third part of them was obscured.et diei non luceret pars tertia,And a third part of the day did not shine,et noctis similiter.and similarly the night.
Et vidi,And I saw,et audivi vocem unius aquilæ volantis per medium cæli dicentis voce magna:and I heard the voice of a lone eagle flying through the midst of heaven, calling with a great voice: “Woe,Væ,Woe,væ,Woe,væ habitantibus in terra de ceteris vocibus trium angelorum,to the inhabitants of the earth, from the remaining voices of the three Angels, qui erant tuba canituri.who will soon sound the trumpet!”
