1Dilectus Deo et hominibus Moyses,Moses was beloved by God and men.cujus memoria in benedictione est.The remembrance of him is a blessing.
2Similem illum fecit in gloria sanctorum,He made him like the holy ones in glory,et magnificavit eum in timore inimicorum,and he magnified him by the fear of his enemies,et in verbis suis monstra placavit.and he appeased great portents by his words.
3Glorificavit illum in conspectu regum,He glorified him in the sight of kings,et jussit illi coram populo suo,and he gave commandments to him in the sight of his people,et ostendit illi gloriam suam.and he revealed his glory to him.
4In fide et lenitate ipsius sanctum fecit illum,He made him holy by his faith and meekness,et elegit eum ex omni carne.and he chose him from among all flesh.
5Audivit enim eum,For he heard himet vocem ipsius,and his voice,et induxit illum in nubem.and he led him into a cloud.
6Et dedit illi coram præcepta,And he gave him precepts in his presence,et legem vitæ et disciplinæ,with a law of life and discipline,docere Jacob testamentum suum, et judicia sua Israël.so as to teach Jacob his covenant and Israel his judgments.
7Excelsum fecit Aaron fratrem ejus, et similem sibi, de tribu Levi.He exalted his brother Aaron and those who were similar to him from the tribe of Levi.
8Statuit ei testamentum æternum,He established an eternal covenant with him,et dedit illi sacerdotium gentis,and he gave him the priesthood of the people,et beatificavit illum in gloria:and he caused him to be blessed in glory.
9et circumcinxit eum zona gloriæ,And he encircled him with a glorious belt,et induit eum stolam gloriæ,and he clothed him with a robe of glory,et coronavit eum in vasis virtutis.and he crowned him with virtuous attire.
10Circumpedes,He placed upon him a garment to the feet,et femoralia,and pants,et humerale posuit ei:and an ephod,et cinxit illum tintinnabulis aureis plurimis in gyro:and he wrapped him all around with many little bells of gold,
11dare sonitum in incessu suo,so that there would be a sound at his arrival,auditum facere sonitum in templo in memoriam filiis gentis suæ.and so as to make a noise that would be heard in the temple, as a memorial for the sons of his people.
12Stolam sanctam auro,He provided him with a holy robe of goldet hyacintho,and hyacinthet purpura,and purple,opus textile viri sapientis,a woven work for a wise man of judgmentjudicio et veritate præditi:and truth,
13torto cocco opus artificis gemmis pretiosis figuratis in ligatura auri,a work of twisted scarlet, the work of an artist, with precious stones,et opere lapidarii sculptis,cut and set in gold, and engraved by the work of a jeweler,in memoriam secundum numerum tribuum Israël.as a memorial according to the number of the tribes of Israel.
14Corona aurea super mitram ejus expressa signo sanctitatis,He provided him with a crown of gold upon his headdress,et gloria honoris:on which was written a symbol of holiness,opus virtutis,a mark of honor.et desideria oculorum ornata.This was a work of virtue and a delight to the eyes in its beauty.
15Sic pulchra ante ipsum non fuerunt talia usque ad originem.Prior to him, there was no one of such beauty, even from the beginning.
16Non est indutus illa alienigena aliquis,No foreigner was ever clothed with these things,sed tantum filii ipsius soli,but only his sons and his descendants alone,et nepotes ejus per omne tempus.for all time.
17Sacrificia ipsius consumpta sunt igne quotidie.His sacrifices were consumed by fire daily.
18Complevit Moyses manus ejus,Moses filled his handset unxit illum oleo sancto.and anointed him with holy oil.
19Factum est illi in testamentum æternum,An eternal covenant was made,et semini ejus,with him and with his offspring,sicut dies cæli,like the days of heaven,fungi sacerdotio,to execute the office of the priesthood,et habere laudem,and to give praise and to glorify his people,et glorificare populum suum in nomine ejus.in his name.
20Ipsum elegit ab omni vivente, offerre sacrificium Deo,He chose him from among all living men to offer to God sacrifice,incensum, et bonum odorem,incense, and a pleasing fragrance,in memoriam placare pro populo suo:as a memorial of appeasement on behalf of his people.
21et dedit illi in præceptis suis potestatem,And he gave him authority by his precepts,in testamentis judiciorum:in the covenants of his judgments,docere Jacob testimonia,to teach Jacob his testimonies,et in lege sua lucem dare Israël.and to give light by his law to Israel.
22Quia contra illum steterunt alieni,Then strangers stood up against him, and,et propter invidiam circumdederunt illum homines in deserto, qui erant cum Dathan et Abiron,because of envy, the men who were with Dathan and Abiram surrounded him in the desert,et congregatio Core in iracundia.along with the congregation of Korah, in their anger.
23Vidit Dominus Deus,The Lord God saw this,et non placuit illi,and it did not please him,et consumpti sunt in impetu iracundiæ.and so they were consumed by the force of his anger.
24Fecit illis monstra,He wrought great portents among them,et consumpsit illos in flamma ignis.and he consumed them with a flame of fire.
25Et addidit Aaron gloriam,And he added glory to Aaron,et dedit illi hæreditatem,and he gave him an inheritance,et primitias frugum terræ divisit illi.and he allotted to him the first-fruits of the earth.
26Panem ipsis in primis paravit in satietatem:He prepared for them the finest bread unto fullness.nam et sacrificia Domini edent,And they shall also eat from the sacrifices of the Lord,quæ dedit illi et semini ejus.which he gave to him and to his offspring.
27Ceterum in terra gentes non hæreditabit,And yet he will not have an inheritance among the people of the land,et pars non est illi in gente:and he has no portion among the people.ipse est enim pars ejus,For the Lord himself is his portionet hæreditas.and his inheritance.
28Phinees,Phinehas,filius Eleazari,the son of Eleazar,tertius in gloria est,is third in glory,imitando eum in timore Domini,by imitating him in the fear of the Lord.
29et stare in reverentia gentis:And he stood up against the shamefulness of the people.in bonitateBy the goodness and responsiveness of his soul,et alacritate animæ suæ placuit Deo pro Israël.he appeased God on behalf of Israel.
30Ideo statuit illi testamentum pacis,For this reason, he made him a covenant of peace,principem sanctorum et gentis suæ,a leader of the sanctuary and of his people,ut sit illi et semini ejus sacerdotii dignitas in æternum.so that the dignity of the priesthood would remain with him and with his offspring unto eternity.
31Et testamentum David regi filio Jesse de tribu Juda,And he made a covenant with king David,hæreditas ipsithe son of Jesse from the tribe of Judah,et semini ejus:an inheritance for him and for his offspring,ut daret sapientiam in cor nostrum,so that he might provide wisdom for our hearts,judicare gentem suam in justitia,so as to judge his people in justice,ne abolerentur bona ipsorum:lest their good things be abolished.et gloriam ipsorum in gentem eorum æternam fecit.And he caused their glory within their nation to be everlasting.
