In anno decimo,In the tenth year, decimo mense,in the tenth month, undecima die mensis,on the eleventh day of the month, factum est verbum Domini ad me,the word of the Lord came to me,dicens:saying:
Fili hominis,“Son of man, pone faciem tuam contra Pharaonem regem Ægypti, set your face against Pharaoh,et prophetabis de eo,the king of Egypt,et de Ægypto universa.and you shall prophesy about him and about all of Egypt.
Loquere, et dices:Speak, and you shall say:Hæc dicit Dominus Deus:Thus says the Lord God: Behold,Ecce ego ad te,I am against you,Pharao rex Ægypti,Pharaoh, king of Egypt, draco magne, you great dragon, qui cubas in medio fluminum tuorum, who rests in the midst of your rivers.et dicis:And you say:Meus est fluvius,‘Mine is the river,et ego feci memetipsum.and I have made myself.’
Et ponam frenum in maxillis tuis,But I will place a bridle in your jaws.et agglutinabo pisces fluminum tuorum squamis tuis,And I will adhere the fish of your rivers to your scales.et extraham te de medio fluminum tuorum,And I will draw you out of the midst of your rivers,et universi pisces tui squamis tuis adhærebunt.and all your fish will adhere to your scales.
Et projiciam te in desertum,And I will cast you into the desert,et omnes pisces fluminis tui:with all the fish of your river.super faciem terræ cades; You will fall upon the surface of the earth;non colligeris, you will not be taken up,neque congregaberis:nor gathered together.bestiis terræI have given you to the beasts of the earth and to the birds of the air,et volatilibus cæli dedi te ad devorandum.to be devoured.
Et scient omnes habitatores Ægypti quia ego Dominus,And all the inhabitants of Egypt shall know that I am the Lord.pro eo quod fuisti baculus arundineus domui Israël:For you have been a staff made of reed to the house of Israel.
quando apprehenderunt te manu, et confractus es,When they took hold of you with the hand, you broke,et lacerasti omnem humerum eorum:and so you wounded all of their shoulders.et innitentibus eis super te comminutus es,And when they leaned on you, you shattered,et dissolvisti omnes renes eorum.and so you injured all of their lower backs.
Propterea hæc dicit Dominus Deus:Because of this, thus says the Lord God:Ecce ego adducam super te gladium,Behold, I will lead the sword over you,et interficiam de te hominem et jumentum.and I will destroy both man and beast from among you.
Et erit terra Ægypti in desertum et in solitudinem:And the land of Egypt will be a desert and a wilderness.et scient quia ego Dominus,And they shall know that I am the Lord.pro eo quod dixeris:For you have said,Fluvius meus est,‘The river is mine,et ego feci eum.and I have made it.’
Idcirco ecce ego ad te,Therefore,et ad flumina tua:behold, daboque terram Ægypti in solitudines,I am against you and against your rivers.gladio dissipatam,And I will make the land of Egypt into a wilderness,a turre Syenes usque ad terminos Æthiopiæ.destroyed by the sword from the tower of Syene all the way to the borders of Ethiopia.
Non pertransibit eam pes hominis,The foot of man will not pass through it,neque pes jumenti gradietur in ea,and the foot of cattle will not walk in it.et non habitabitur quadraginta annis. And it will be uninhabited for forty years.
Daboque terram Ægypti desertam in medio terrarum desertarum,And I will set the land of Egypt in desolation, in the midst of desolate lands,et civitates ejus in medio urbium subversarum, and its cities in the midst of overturned cites.et erunt desolatæ quadraginta annis:And they will be desolate for forty years.et dispergam Ægyptios in nationes,And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations,et ventilabo eos in terras.and I will disperse them among the lands.
Quia hæc dicit Dominus Deus:For thus says the Lord God:Post finem quadraginta annorum congregabo Ægyptum de populis in quibus dispersi fuerant. After the end of forty years, I will gather the Egyptians from the peoples among whom they had been scattered.
Et reducam captivitatem Ægypti,And I will lead back the captivity of Egypt,et collocabo eos in terra Phathures, and I will collect them in the land of Pathros,in terra nativitatis suæ,in the land of their nativity.et erunt ibi in regnum humile. And in that place, they will be a lowly kingdom.
Inter cetera regna erit humillima,It will be the lowest among the other kingdoms,et non elevabitur ultra super nationes, and it will no longer be exalted above the nations.et imminuam eos ne imperent gentibus. And I will diminish them, lest they rule over the Gentiles.
Neque erunt ultra domui Israël in confidentia,And they will no longer be the confidence of the house of Israel, docentes iniquitatem ut fugiant, teaching iniquity,et sequantur eos:so that they may flee and follow them.et scient quia ego Dominus Deus. And they shall know that I am the Lord God.”
Et factum est in vigesimoAnd it happened that,et septimo anno,in the twenty-seventh year,in primo,in the first month,in una mensis:on the first of the month, factum est verbum Domini ad me,the word of the Lord came to me,dicens:saying:
Fili hominis,“Son of man,Nabuchodonosor rex Babylonis servire fecit exercitum suum servitute magna adversum Tyrum:Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, has caused his army to serve with great servility against Tyre.omne caput decalvatum,Every head was shaven,et omnis humerus depilatus est:and every shoulder was stripped of hair.et merces non est reddita ei, neque exercitui ejus,And wages have not been paid to him, nor to his army,de Tyro, for Tyre, pro servitute qua servivit mihi adversus eam.for the service by which he served for me against it.
Propterea hæc dicit Dominus Deus:Because of this, thus says the Lord God: Behold,Ecce ego dabo Nabuchodonosor regem Babylonis in terra Ægypti:I will station Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, in the land of Egypt.et accipiet multitudinem ejus,And he will take its multitude,et deprædabitur manubias ejus, and he will prey upon its profits,et diripiet spolia ejus:and he will plunder its spoils.et erit merces exercitui illius,And this shall be the wages for his army
et operi quo servivit adversus eam:and for the work by which he has served against it.dedi ei terram Ægypti pro eo quod laboraverit mihi,I have given to him the land of Egypt, because he has labored for me,ait Dominus Deus.says the Lord God.
In die illo pullulabit cornu domui Israël,In that day, a horn will spring forth for the house of Israel,et tibi dabo apertum os in medio eorum, and I will give to you an open mouth in their midst.et scient quia ego Dominus. And they shall know that I am the Lord.”
