Et factum est verbum Domini ad me,And the word of the Lord came to me,dicens:saying:
Fili hominis,“Son of man,propheta,prophesyet dic:and say:Hæc dicit Dominus Deus:Thus says the Lord God:Ululate:Wail:Væ,‘Woe,væ diei!woe to the day!’
quia juxta est dies,For the day is near,et appropinquat dies Domini, and the day of the Lord is approaching!dies nubis:It is a day of gloom;tempus gentium erit.it will be the time of the Gentiles.
Et veniet gladius in Ægyptum,And the sword will come to Egypt.et erit pavor in Æthiopia,And there will be dread in Ethiopia, cum ceciderint vulnerati in Ægypto, when the wounded will have fallen in Egypt,et ablata fuerit multitudo illius, and its multitude will have been taken away,et destructa fundamenta ejus.and its foundations will have been destroyed.
Æthiopia,Ethiopia,et Libya, and Libya,et Lydi, and Lydia,et omne reliquum vulgus, and all the rest of the common people,et Chub, and Chub,et filii terræ fœderis, and the sons of the land of the covenant, cum eis gladio cadent.will fall with them by the sword.

Et dissipabuntur in medio terrarum desolatarum,And they will be scattered into the midst of desolate lands,et urbes ejus in medio civitatum desertarum erunt:and its cities will be in the midst of cities that have been deserted.
et scient quia ego Dominus,And they shall know that I am the Lord, cum dedero ignem in Ægypto, when I will have brought a fire into Egypt,et attriti fuerint omnes auxiliatores ejus.and when all its helpers will have been worn away.
In die illa egredientur nuntii a facie mea in trieribus ad conterendam Æthiopiæ confidentiam:In that day, messengers will go forth from my face in Greek warships, in order to crush the confidence of Ethiopia.et erit pavor in eis in die Ægypti,And there will be dread among them in the day of Egypt;quia absque dubio veniet.for without doubt, it will happen.
Hæc dicit Dominus Deus:Thus says the Lord God:Cessare faciam multitudinem Ægypti in manu Nabuchodonosor regis Babylonis.By the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, I will cause the multitude of Egypt to cease.
IpseHe,et populus ejus cum eo,and his people with him, fortissimi gentium, the strongest of the Gentiles, adducentur ad disperdendam terram:will be brought forth in order to destroy the land.et evaginabunt gladios suos super Ægyptum,And they will draw their swords over Egypt.et implebunt terram interfectis. And they will fill the land with the slain.
Et faciam alveos fluminum aridos,And I will cause the channels of the rivers to dry up.et tradam terram in manus pessimorum:And I will deliver the land into the hand of the most wicked.et dissipabo terram et plenitudinem ejus manu alienorum:And by the hands of foreigners, I will utterly destroy the land and its plenitude.ego Dominus locutus sum.I, the Lord, have spoken.
Hæc dicit Dominus Deus:Thus says the Lord God:Et disperdam simulacra,And I will destroy the graven images,et cessare faciam idola de Memphis:and I will cause the idols of Memphis to cease.et dux de terra Ægypti non erit amplius,And there will no longer be a commander of the land of Egypt.et dabo terrorem in terra Ægypti. And I will send terror upon the land of Egypt.
Et disperdam terram Phathures,And I will destroy the land of Pathros,et dabo ignem in Taphnis, and I will send a fire upon Tahpanhes,et faciam judicia in Alexandria.and I will execute judgments in Alexandria.
Et effundam indignationem meam super Pelusium,And I will pour out my indignation upon Pelusium, robur Ægypti, the strength of Egypt,et interficiam multitudinem Alexandriæ.and I will kill the multitude of Alexandria.
Et dabo ignem in Ægypto:And I will send a fire upon Egypt.quasi parturiens dolebit Pelusium,Pelusium will be in pain, like a woman giving birth.et Alexandria erit dissipata,And Alexandria will be utterly destroyed.et in Memphis angustiæ quotidianæ.And in Memphis, there will be anguish every day.
Juvenes Heliopoleos et Bubasti gladio cadent,The young men of Heliopolis and Pibeseth will fall by the sword,et ipsæ captivæ ducentur.and the young women will be led into captivity.
Et in Taphnis nigrescet dies,And in Tahpanhes, the day will grow black, cum contrivero ibi sceptra Ægypti, when, in that place, I will break the scepters of Egypt.et defecerit in ea superbia potentiæ ejus:And the arrogance of her authority will fail within her;ipsam nubes operiet,a gloom will cover her.filiæ autem ejus in captivitatem ducentur. Then her daughters will be led into captivity.
Et judicia faciam in Ægypto:And I will execute judgments in Egypt.et scient quia ego Dominus. And they shall know that I am the Lord.”
Et factum est in undecimo anno,And it happened that, in the eleventh year,in primo mense,in the first month,in septima mensis: factum est verbum Domini ad me,on the seventh of the month, the word of the Lord came to me,dicens:saying:
Fili hominis,“Son of man, brachium Pharaonis regis Ægypti confregi,I have broken the arm of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt.et ecce non est obvolutum ut restitueretur ei sanitas,And behold, it has not been wrapped, so that it might be restored to health;ut ligaretur pannis,it has not been bound with cloths,et fasciaretur linteolis,or bandaged with linen, so that,ut recepto robore posset tenere gladium.having recovered strength, it would be able to hold the sword.
Propterea hæc dicit Dominus Deus:Because of this, thus says the Lord God:Ecce ego ad Pharaonem regem Ægypti,Behold, I am against Pharaoh, the king of Egypt,et comminuam brachium ejus forte, sed confractum:and I will shatter his strong arm, which has already been broken.et dejiciam gladium de manu ejus,And I will cast the sword away from his hand.
et dispergam Ægyptum in gentibus,And I will disperse Egypt among the nations,et ventilabo eos in terris.and I will scatter them among the lands.
Et confortabo brachia regis Babylonis,And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon.daboque gladium meum in manu ejus,And I will put my sword into his hand.et confringam brachia Pharaonis,And I will break the arms of Pharaoh.et gement gemitibus interfecti coram facie ejus. And they will groan acutely, when they are slain before his face.
Et confortabo brachia regis Babylonis,And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon.et brachia Pharaonis concident:And the arms of Pharaoh will fall.et scient quia ego Dominus,And they shall know that I am the Lord, cum dedero gladium meum in manu regis Babylonis, when I will have given my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon,et extenderit eum super terram Ægypti.and when he will have extended it over the land of Egypt.
Et dispergam Ægyptum in nationes,And I will disperse Egypt among the nations,et ventilabo eos in terras:and I will scatter them among the lands.et scient quia ego Dominus. And they shall know that I am the Lord.”
