Et factus est sermo Domini ad me,And the word of the Lord came to me,dicens:saying:

Fili hominis,“Son of man, pone faciem tuam adversum montem Seir, set your face against mount Seir,et prophetabis de eo,and you shall prophesy about it,et dices illi:and you shall say to it:

Hæc dicit Dominus Deus:Thus says the Lord God:Ecce ego ad te,Behold, mons Seir:I am against you,et extendam manum meam super te,mount Seir,et dabo te desolatumand I will extend my hand over you, atque desertum.and I will make you desolate and deserted.

Urbes tuas demoliar,I will tear down your cities,et tu desertus eris:and you will be deserted.et scies quia ego Dominus. And you shall know that I am the Lord.

Eo quod fueris inimicus sempiternus,For you have been a continual adversary,et concluseris filios Israël in manus gladii in tempore afflictionis eorum, and you have enclosed the sons of Israel, by the hands of the sword, in the time of their affliction,in tempore iniquitatis extremæ:in the time of extreme iniquity.

propterea vivo ego,Because of this, as I live, dicit Dominus Deus, says the Lord God,quoniam sanguini tradam te,I will hand you over to blood,et sanguis te persequetur:and blood will pursue you.et cum sanguinem oderis,Even though you have hated blood, sanguis persequetur te.blood will pursue you.

Et dabo montem Seir desolatum atque desertum,And I will make mount Seir desolate and deserted.et auferam de eo euntem et redeuntem. And I will take away from it the one who departs and the one who returns.

Et implebo montes ejus occisorum suorum:And I will fill up its mountains with its slain.in collibus tuis,In your hills,et in vallibus tuisand in your valleys, atque in torrentibus,as well as in your torrents, interfecti gladio cadent.the slain will fall by the sword.

In solitudines sempiternas tradam te,I will hand you over to everlasting desolations,et civitates tuæ non habitabuntur:and your cities will not be inhabited.et scietis quia ego Dominus Deus. And you shall know that I am the Lord God.

Eo quod dixeris:For you have said,Duæ gentes et duæ terræ meæ erunt,‘Two nations and two lands will be mine,et hæreditate possidebo eas,and I will possess them as an inheritance,’cum Dominus esset ibi:though the Lord was in that place.

propterea vivo ego,Because of this, as I live, dicit Dominus Deus, says the Lord God,quia faciam juxta iram tuam,I will act in accord with your own wrath,et secundum zelum tuum, and in accord with your own zeal, quem fecisti odio habens eos:by which you have acted with hatred toward them.et notus efficiar per eos,And I will be made known by them, cum te judicavero.when I will have judged you.

Et scies quia ego Dominus audivi universa opprobria tua quæ locutus es de montibus Israël, dicens: Deserti nobis ad devorandum dati sunt. And you shall know that I, the Lord, have heard all your disgraces, which you have spoken about the mountains of Israel, saying: ‘They are deserted. They have been given to us to devour.’

Et insurrexistis super me ore vestro,And you rose up against me with your mouth,et derogastis adversum me verba vestra:and you disparaged against me with your words.ego audivi.I have heard.

Hæc dicit Dominus Deus:Thus says the Lord God:Lætante universa terra,When the whole earth will rejoice,in solitudinem te redigam:I will reduce you to solitude.

sicuti gavisus es super hæreditatem domus Israël eo quod fuerit dissipata,Just as you have rejoiced over the inheritance of the house of Israel, when it was laid waste, sic faciam tibi:so will I act toward you.dissipatus eris,You will be laid waste, mons Seir,O mount Seir,et Idumæa omnis:with all of Idumea.et scient quia ego Dominus. And they shall know that I am the Lord.”
