Et tu,“And as for you, fili hominis, son of man, sume tibi gladium acutum, obtain for yourself a sharp knife for shaving hair, radentem pilos, and you shall take it and draw it across your head and across your beard.et assumes eum et duces per caput tuum et per barbam tuam,And you shall obtain for yourself a balance for weighing,et assumes tibi stateram ponderis et divides eos.and you shall divide the hair.

Tertiam partem igni combures in medio civitatis,A third part you shall burn with fire in the midst of the city, juxta completionem dierum obsidionis, according to the completion of the days of the siege.et assumes tertiam partem,And you shall take a third part,et concides gladio in circuitu ejus:and you shall cut it with the knife all around.tertiam vero aliam disperges in ventum,Yet truly, the other third, you shall scatter to the wind,et gladium nudabo post eos.for I will unsheathe the sword after them.

Et sumes inde parvum numerum,And you shall take from there a small number.et ligabis eos in summitate pallii tui:And you shall bind them in the end of your cloak.

et ex eis rursum tolles,And again, you shall take from them,et projicies eos in medio ignis, and you shall throw them into the midst of the fire,et combures eos igni, and you shall burn them with fire.et ex eo egredietur ignis in omnem domum Israël.And from it, there shall go forth a fire to the entire house of Israel.”

Hæc dicit Dominus Deus:Thus says the Lord God:Ista est Jerusalem:“This is Jerusalem.in medio gentium posui eam,I have placed her in the midst of the Gentileset in circuitu ejus terras.and of the lands all around her.

Et contempsit judicia mea,And she has despised my judgments,ut plus esset impia quam gentes,so as to be more impious than the Gentiles,et præcepta mea ultra quam terræ quæ in circuitu ejus sunt:and my precepts, more so than the lands that are all around her.judicia enim mea projecerunt,For they have cast aside my judgments,et in præceptis meis non ambulaverunt.and they have not walked in my precepts.”

Idcirco hæc dicit Dominus Deus:For this reason, thus says the Lord God:Quia superastis gentes quæ in circuitu vestro sunt,“Since you have surpassed the Gentiles who are all around you,et in præceptis meis non ambulastis, and have not walked in my precepts,et judicia mea non fecistis, and have not accomplished my judgments,et juxta judicia gentium quæ in circuitu vestro sunt non estis operati, and have not even acted in accord with the judgments of the Gentiles who are all around you:

ideo hæc dicit Dominus Deus:therefore, thus says the Lord God: Behold,Ecce ego ad te,I am against you,et ipse ego faciam in medio tui judicia in oculis gentium:and I myself will accomplish judgments in your midst, in the sight of the Gentiles.

et faciam in te quod non feci,And I will do in you what I have not done before,et quibus similia ultra non faciam, and the likes of which I will not do again, propter omnes abominationes tuas.because of all your abominations.

Ideo patres comedent filios in medio tui,Therefore, the fathers shall consume the sons in your midst,et filii comedent patres suos:and the sons shall consume their fathers.et faciam in te judicia,And I will execute judgments in you,et ventilabo universas reliquias tuas in omnem ventum.and I will winnow your entire remnant in every wind.

Idcirco vivo ego,Therefore, dicit Dominus Deus,as I myself live says the Lord God,nisi pro eo quod sanctum meum violasti in omnibus offensionibus tuis et in cunctis abominationibus tuis, because you have violated my sanctuary with all your offenses and with all your abominations, ego quoque confringam:I also will break into pieces,et non parcet oculus meus, and my eye will not be lenient,et non miserebor.and I will not take pity.

Tertia pars tui peste morietur,One third part of you will die by pestilence or be consumed by famine in your midst.et fame consumetur in medio tui,And one third part of you will fall by the sword all around you.et tertia pars tui in gladio cadet in circuitu tuo:Yet truly, tertiam vero partem tuam in omnem ventum dispergam, one third part of you I will scatter to every wind,et gladium evaginabo post eos.and I will unsheathe the sword after them.

Et complebo furorem meum,And I will fulfill my fury,et requiescere faciam indignationem meam in eis, et consolabor:and I will cause my indignation to rest upon them, and I will be consoled.et scient quia ego Dominus locutus sum in zelo meo,And they shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken in my zeal, cum implevero indignationem meam in eis.when I will have fulfilled my indignation in them.

Et dabo te in desertum,And I will make you desolate,et in opprobrium gentibus quæ in circuitu tuo sunt, and a disgrace among the Gentiles, who are all around you,in conspectu omnis prætereuntis:in the sight of all who pass by.

et eris opprobrium et blasphemia,And you shall be a disgrace and a blasphemy, exemplum et stupor in gentibus quæ in circuitu tuo sunt,an example and an astonishment, among the Gentiles, who are all around you,cum fecero in te judicia in furore, when I will have executed judgments in you,et in indignatione, et in increpationibus iræ.in fury and in indignation and with rebukes of wrath.

Ego Dominus locutus sum:I, the Lord, have spoken.quando misero sagittas famis pessimas in eos,At that time, I will send among them the most grievous arrows of famine,quæ erunt mortiferæ,which shall bring death,et quas mittam ut disperdam vos:and which I will send so that I may destroy you.et famem congregabo super vos,And I will gather a famine over you,et conteram in vobis baculum panis:and I will crush the staff of bread among you.

et immittam in vos famemAnd I will send among you famine and very harmful beasts,et bestias pessimas, even unto utter ruin.usque ad internecionem:And pestilence and blood shall pass through you.et pestilentiaAnd I will bring the sword over you.et sanguis transibunt per te,I,et gladium inducam super te.the Lord,Ego Dominus locutus sum.have spoken.”
