Et factus est sermo Domini ad me,And the word of the Lord came to me,dicens:saying:

Fili hominis,“Son of man, pone faciem tuam ad montes Israël,set your face toward the mountains of Israel,et prophetabis ad eos,and you shall prophesy against them,

et dices:and you shall say:Montes Israël,O mountains of Israel, audite verbum Domini Dei.listen to the word of the Lord God!Hæc dicit Dominus Deus montibus et collibus,Thus says the Lord God to the mountains and hills and cliffs and valleys:rupibus et vallibus:Behold,Ecce ego inducam super vos gladium,I will lead over you the sword.et disperdam excelsa vestra,And I will destroy your exalted places.

et demoliar aras vestras,And I will demolish your altars.et confringentur simulacra vestra,And your graven images will be broken apart.et dejiciam interfectos vestros ante idola vestra:And I will throw down your slain before your idols.

et dabo cadavera filiorum Israël ante faciem simulacrorum vestrorum,And I will lay the dead bodies of the sons of Israel before the face of your idols.et dispergam ossa vestra circum aras vestras:And I will scatter your bones around your altars.

in omnibus habitationibus vestris urbes desertæ erunt,In all of your habitations,et excelsa demolientur et dissipabuntur:the cities will be made desolate,et interibunt aræ vestræ,and the exalted places will be torn down and scattered.et confringentur,And your altars will be broken and destroyed.et cessabunt idola vestra,And your idols will cease to exist.et conterentur delubra vestra,And your shrines will be crushed.et delebuntur opera vestra:And your works will be wiped away.

et cadet interfectus in medio vestri,And the slain will fall in your midst.et scietis quia ego sum Dominus. And you shall know that I am the Lord.

Et relinquam in vobis eos qui fugerint gladium in gentibus,And I will leave among you those who will escape the sword among the Gentiles, cum dispersero vos in terris:when I will have dispersed you upon the earth.

et recordabuntur mei liberati vestri in gentibus ad quas captivi ducti sunt:And your liberated shall remember me among the nations to which they were led away as captives.quia contrivi cor eorum fornicans et recedens a me,For I have crushed their heart, which fornicated and withdrew from me,et oculos eorum fornicantes post idola sua:and their eyes, which fornicated after their idols.et displicebunt sibimet super malis quæ fecerunt in universis abominationibus suis. And they will be displeased with themselves over the evils that they have done by all their abominations.

Et scient quia ego Dominus non frustra locutus sum,And they shall know that I, the Lord, have not spoken in vain,ut facerem eis malum hoc.that I would do this evil to them.”

Hæc dicit Dominus Deus:Thus says the Lord God:Percute manum tuam“Strike with your hand,et allide pedem tuum, and stomp with your foot,et dic:and say:Heu!‘Alas,ad omnes abominationes malorum domus Israël:to all the abominations of the evils of the house of Israel!’quia gladio,For they will fall by the sword, fameby famine,et peste ruituri sunt.and by pestilence.

Qui longe est, peste morietur:Whoever is far away will die of pestilence.qui autem prope, gladio corruet:But whoever is near will fall by the sword.et qui relictus fuerit et obsessus, fame morietur:And whoever remains and is besieged will die by famine.et complebo indignationem meam in eis.And I will fulfill my indignation among them.

Et scietis quia ego Dominus,And you shall know that I am the Lord, cum fuerint interfecti vestri in medio idolorum vestrorum, when your slain will be in the midst of your idols,in circuitu ararum vestrarum, all around your altars,in omni colle excelso,on every exalted hill,et in cunctis summitatibus montium, and on the summits of all the mountains,et subtus omne lignum nemorosum, and under every dense tree,et subtus universam quercum frondosam, and under every leafy oak:locum ubi accenderunt thura redolentia universis idolis suis.the places where they burned sweet-smelling incense to all their idols.

Et extendam manum meam super eos:And I will extend my hand over them.et faciam terram desolatam et destitutam,And I will make the earth desolatea deserto Deblatha, and destitute:in omnibus habitationibus eorum:from the desert of Riblah to all their dwelling places.et scient quia ego Dominus. And they shall know that I am the Lord.”
