Lauda,Give praise, sterilis, quæ non paris;you who are barren and unable to conceive.decanta laudem, et hinni,Sing praise and make a joyful noise,quæ non pariebas:you who have not given birth.quoniam multi filii desertæ magis quam ejus quæ habet virum,For many are the children of the desolate, more so than of her who has a husband, dicit Dominus.says the Lord.

Dilata locum tentorii tui,Enlarge the place of your tentet pelles tabernaculorum tuorum extende:and extend the skins of your tabernacles,ne parcas:unsparingly.longos fac funiculos tuos,Lengthen your cords,et clavos tuos consolida.and strengthen your stakes.

Ad dexteram enim et ad lævam penetrabis,For you shall extend to the right and to the left.et semen tuum gentes hæreditabit,And your offspring shall inherit the nations,et civitates desertas inhabitabit.and you shall inhabit the desolate cities.

Noli timere,Do not be afraid!quia non confunderis,For you will not be confounded, neque erubesces;and you will not blush.non enim te pudebit,And you will not be put to shame, quia confusionis adolescentiæ tuæ oblivisceris, because you shall forget the confusion of your youth,et opprobrii viduitatis tuæ non recordaberis amplius.and you shall no longer remember the disgrace of your widowhood.

Quia dominabitur tui qui fecit te,For the One who made you will rule over you.Dominus exercituum nomen ejus,The Lord of hosts is his name.et redemptor tuus,And your Redeemer,Sanctus Israël:the Holy One of Israel,Deus omnis terræ vocabitur.will be called the God of all the earth.

Quia ut mulierem derelictamFor the Lord has called you,et mœrentem spiritu vocavit te Dominus, like a woman forsaken and mourning in spirit,et uxorem ab adolescentia abjectam, and like a wife rejected in her youth, dixit Deus tuus.said your God.

Ad punctum in modico dereliqui te,For a brief moment, I have forsaken you,et in miserationibus magnis congregabo te.and with great pities, I will gather you.

In momento indignationis abscondi faciem meam parumper a te;In a moment of indignation, I have hidden my face from you, for a little while.et in misericordia sempiterna misertus sum tui,But with everlasting mercy, I have taken pity on you, dixit redemptor tuus, said your Redeemer,Dominus.the Lord.

Sicut in diebus Noë istud mihi est,For me, it is just as in the days of Noah, cui juravi ne inducerem aquas Noë ultra super terram;to whom I swore that I would no longer bring in the waters of Noah over the earth.sic juravi ut non irascar tibi,Thus have I sworn not to be angry with you,et non increpem te.and not to rebuke you.

Montes enim commovebuntur,For the mountains will be moved,et colles contremiscent;and the hills will tremble.misericordia autem mea non recedet a te, et fœdus pacis meæ non movebitur,But my mercy will not depart from you, and the covenant of my peace will not be shaken, dixit miserator tuus Dominus.said the Lord, who has compassion on you.

Paupercula,O poor little ones, tempestate convulsa absque ulla consolatione, convulsed by the tempest, away from any consolation! Behold, ecce ego sternam per ordinem lapides tuos, et fundabo te in sapphiris:I will set your stones in order, and I will lay your foundation with sapphires,

et ponam jaspidem propugnacula tua,and I will make your ramparts out of jasper,et portas tuas in lapides sculptos, and your gates out of sculpted stones,et omnes terminos tuos in lapides desiderabiles;and all your borders out of desirable stones.

universos filios tuos doctos a Domino,All your children will be taught by the Lord.et multitudinem pacis filiis tuis. And great will be the peace of your children.

Et in justitia fundaberis:And you will be founded in justice.recede procul a calumnia,Depart far from oppression, quia non timebis, for you will not be afraid.et a pavore,And depart from terror, quia non appropinquabit tibi.for it will not approach you.

Ecce accola veniet qui non erat mecum,Behold, a settler will arrive, who was not with me,advena quondam tuus adjungetur tibi.a certain new arrival will be joined to you.

Ecce ego creavi fabrum sufflantem in igne prunas,Behold,et proferentem vas in opus suum;I created the smith who fans the coals of the fire and produces an object by his work,et ego creavi interfectorem ad disperdendum.and I have created the slayer who destroys.

Omne vas quod fictum est contra te, non dirigetur,No object which has been formed to use against you will succeed.et omnem linguam resistentem tibi in judicio,And every tongue that resists you in judgment, you shall judge.judicabis. Hæc est hæreditas servorum Domini,This is the inheritance of the servants of the Lord,et justitia eorum apud me,and this is their justice with me,dicit Dominus.says the Lord.
