³Hæc dicit Dominus:Thus says the Lord:Tradendo tradetur civitas hæc in manu exercitus regis Babylonis,This city will certainly be delivered into the hand of the army of the king of Babylon,et capiet eam.and he will capture it.”

⁴Et dixerunt principes regi:And the leaders said to the king:Rogamus ut occidatur homo iste:“We petition you to put this man to death.de industria enim dissolvit manus virorum bellantium qui remanserunt in civitate hac,For he is deliberately weakening the hands of the men of war, who have remained in this city,et manus universi populi,and the hands of the people,loquens ad eos juxta verba hæc:by speaking to them with these words.siquidem homo iste non quærit pacem populo huic,For this man is certainly not seeking peace for this people,sed malum.but evil.”
