Hæc locutus est Jesus:Jesus said these things,et sublevatis oculis in cælum, and then, lifting up his eyes toward heaven, dixit:he said:Pater,“Father, venit hora: clarifica Filium tuum, the hour has arrived: glorify your Son,ut Filius tuus clarificet te:so that your Son may glorify you,
sicut dedisti ei potestatem omnis carnis, just as you have given authority over all flesh to him,ut omne, quod dedisti ei, det eis vitam æternam.so that he may give eternal life to all those whom you have given to him.
Hæc est autem vita æterna:And this is eternal life:ut cognoscant te,that they may know you, solum Deum verum, the only true God,et quem misisti Jesum Christum.and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
Ego te clarificavi super terram:I have glorified you on earth.opus consummavi, quod dedisti mihi ut faciam:I have completed the work that you gave me to accomplish.
et nunc clarifica me tu,And now Father,Pater, apud temetipsum, glorify me within yourself, claritate quam habui, priusquam mundus esset, apud te.with the glory that I had with you before the world ever was.
Manifestavi nomen tuum hominibus, quos dedisti mihi de mundo:I have manifested your name to the men whom you have given to me from the world.tui erant,They were yours,et mihi eos dedisti:and you gave them to me.et sermonem tuum servaverunt. And they have kept your word.
Nunc cognoverunt quia omnia quæ dedisti mihi, abs te sunt:Now they realize that all the things that you have given me are from you.
quia verba quæ dedisti mihi, dedi eis:For I have given them the words that you gave to me.et ipsi acceperunt,And they have accepted these words,et cognoverunt vere quia a te exivi, and they have truly understood that I went forth from you,et crediderunt quia tu me misisti.and they have believed that you sent me.
Ego pro eis rogo;I pray for them.non pro mundo rogo,I do not pray for the world, sed pro his quos dedisti mihi:but for those whom you have given to me.quia tui sunt:For they are yours.
et mea omnia tua sunt,And all that is mine is yours,et tua mea sunt:and all that is yours is mine,et clarificatus sum in eis.and I am glorified in this.
Et jam non sum in mundo,And though I am not in the world,et hi in mundo sunt, these are in the world,et ego ad te venio.and I am coming to you.Pater sancte,Father most holy, serva eos in nomine tuo, preserve them in your name, quos dedisti mihi:those whom you have given to me,ut sint unum,so that they may be one, sicut et nos.even as we are one.
Cum essem cum eis,While I was with them, ego servabam eos in nomine tuo.I preserved them in your name.Quos dedisti mihi, custodivi:I have guarded those whom you have given to me,et nemo ex eis periit, and not one of them is lost, nisi filius perditionis, except the son of perdition,ut Scriptura impleatur.so that the Scripture may be fulfilled.
Nunc autem ad te venio:And now I am coming to you.et hæc loquor in mundo,But I am speaking these things in the world,ut habeant gaudium meum impletum in semetipsis.so that they may have the fullness of my joy within themselves.
Ego dedi eis sermonem tuum,I have given them your word,et mundus eos odio habuit, and the world has hated them.quia non sunt de mundo,For they are not of the world, sicut et ego non sum de mundo.just as I, too, am not of the world.
Non rogo ut tollas eos de mundo,I am not praying that you would take them out of the world, sed ut serves eos a malo.but that you would preserve them from evil.
De mundo non sunt,They are not of the world, sicut et ego non sum de mundo.just as I also am not of the world.
Sanctifica eos in veritate.Sanctify them in truth.Sermo tuus veritas est.Your word is truth.
Sicut tu me misisti in mundum,Just as you have sent me into the world,et ego misi eos in mundum:I also have sent them into the world.
et pro eis ego sanctifico meipsum:And it is for them that I sanctify myself,ut sint et ipsi sanctificati in veritate.so that they, too, may be sanctified in truth.
Non pro eis autem rogo tantum,But I am not praying for them only, sed et pro eis qui credituri sunt per verbum eorum in me:but also for those who through their word shall believe in me.
ut omnes unum sint,So may they all be one.sicut tu Pater in me,Just as you,et ego in te,Father, utare in me,et ipsi in nobis unum sint:and I am in you,ut credat mundus,so also may they be one in us:quia tu me misisti.so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
Et ego claritatem, quam dedisti mihi,And the glory that you have given to me, I have given to them, dedi eis: ut sint unum,so that they may be one, sicut et nos unum sumus.just as we also are one.
Ego in eis,I am in them,et tu in me:and you are in me.ut sint consummati in unum:So may they be perfected as one.et cognoscat mundus quia tu me misisti,And may the world know that you have sent meet dilexisti eos,and that you have loved them, sicut et me dilexisti.just as you have also loved me.
Pater,Father, quos dedisti mihi,I will that where I am,volo ut ubi sum ego, et illi sint mecum:those whom you have given to me may also be with me,ut videant claritatem meam, quam dedisti mihi:so that they may see my glory which you have given to me.quia dilexisti me ante constitutionem mundi. For you loved me before the founding of the world.
Pater juste,Father most just, mundus te non cognovit, the world has not known you.ego autem te cognovi:But I have known you.et hi cognoverunt, quia tu me misisti. And these have known that you sent me.
Et notum feci eis nomen tuum,And I have made known your name to them,et notum faciam:and I will make it known,ut dilectio, qua dilexisti me, in ipsis sit,so that the love in which you have loved me may be in them,et ego in ipsis.and so that I may be in them.”
