Qui vescebantur voluptuose, interierunt in viis;HE. Those who were fed indulgently have passed away in the roads.qui nutriebantur in croceis, amplexati sunt stercora. Those who were nourished with saffron have welcomed filth.
Et major effecta est iniquitas filiæ populi mei peccato Sodomorum,VAU. And the iniquity of the daughter of my people has been made greater than the sin of Sodom,quæ subversa est in momento, which was overthrown in a moment,et non ceperunt in ea manus.and yet hands did not take captives in her.
Candidiores Nazaræi ejus nive,ZAIN. Her Nazirites were whiter than snow, nitidiores lacte, shinier than milk, rubicundiores ebore antiquo, more ruddy than ancient ivory, sapphiro pulchriores.more beautiful than sapphire.

Melius fuit occisis gladio quam interfectis fame,TETH. It was better for those slain by the sword, than for those put to death by famine.quoniam isti extabuerunt consumpti a sterilitate terræ.For these waste away, being consumed by the sterility of the land.
Manus mulierum misericordium coxerunt filios suos;JOD. The hands of pitiable women have boiled their sons.facti sunt cibus earum in contritione filiæ populi mei. They became their food in the grief of the daughter of my people.
Complevit Dominus furorem suum,CAPH. The Lord has completed his fury;effudit iram indignationis suæ:he has poured out the wrath of his indignation.et succendit ignem in Sion,And he has kindled a fire in Zion,et devoravit fundamenta ejus.and it has devoured its foundations.

Propter peccata prophetarum ejus,MEM. It is because of the sins of her prophets,et iniquitates sacerdotum ejus, and the iniquities of her priests, qui effuderunt in medio ejus sanguinem justorum.who have shed the blood of the just in her midst.
Erraverunt cæci in plateis,NUN. They have wandered in the streets like the blind;polluti sunt in sanguine;they have been defiled with blood.cumque non possent,And when they were not able, tenuerunt lacinias suas.they held their garments.
Recedite polluti,SAMECH. “Go back, clamaverunt eis; recedite, you polluted ones!” they cried out to them.abite,“Go back, nolite tangere:go away, do not touch!”jurgati quippe sunt,Of course, they argued,et commoti dixerunt inter gentes:and being removed, they said among the Gentiles,Non addet ultra ut habitet in eis.“He will no longer dwell among them.”
Facies Domini divisit eos,PHE. The face of the Lord has divided them.non addet ut respiciat eos;He will no longer respect them.facies sacerdotum non erubuerunt,They were not ashamed before the faces of the priests, neque senum miserti sunt.nor did they take pity on the elderly.
Cum adhuc subsisteremus,AIN. While we were still standing, defecerunt oculi nostri ad auxilium nostrum vanum;our eyes failed, expecting help for us in vain, cum respiceremus attenti ad gentem quæ salvare non poterat.when we looked attentively toward a nation that was not able to save.
Lubricaverunt vestigia nostra in itinere platearum nostrarum;SADE. Our footsteps have slipped on the paths of our own streets.appropinquavit finis noster, completi sunt dies nostri,Our end draws near. Our days have been completed, quia venit finis noster.for our end has arrived.
Velociores fuerunt persecutores nostri aquilis cæli;COPH. Our persecutors have been swifter than the eagles of the sky.super montes persecuti sunt nos,They have been pursuing us above the mountains;in deserto insidiati sunt nobis.they have lain in wait for us in the desert.
