Recordare,Remember,Domine,O Lord, quid acciderit nobis;what has befallen us.intuere et respice opprobrium nostrum.Consider and look kindly upon our disgrace.

Hæreditas nostra versa est ad alienos,Our inheritance has been turned over to foreigners;domus nostræ ad extraneos.our houses to outsiders.

Pupilli facti sumus absque patre,We have become orphans without a father;matres nostræ quasi viduæ.our mothers are like widows.

Aquam nostram pecunia bibimus; We paid for our drinking water.ligna nostra pretio comparavimus. We acquired our wood for a price.

Cervicibus nostris minabamur,We were dragged by our necks.lassis non dabatur requies.Being weary, no rest was given to us.

Ægypto dedimus manum et Assyriis,We have given our hand to Egypt and to the Assyrians,ut saturaremur pane.so that we may be satisfied with bread.

Patres nostri peccaverunt,Our fathers have sinned,et non sunt:and are not.et nos iniquitates eorum portavimus. And we have carried their iniquities.

Servi dominati sunt nostri:Servants have become rulers over us.non fuit qui redimeret de manu eorum. There was no one to redeem us from their hand.

In animabus nostris afferebamus panem nobis,We obtained our bread at the risk of our lives,a facie gladii in deserto.before the face of the sword, in the wilderness.

Pellis nostra quasi clibanus exusta est,Our skin was burned, as if by an oven,a facie tempestatum famis.before the face of the tempest of the famine.

Mulieres in Sion humiliaverunt,They humiliated the women in Zionet virgines in civitatibus Juda.and the virgins in the cities of Judah.

Principes manu suspensi sunt; The leaders were suspended by their hand.facies senum non erubuerunt. They were not ashamed before the faces of the elders.

Adolescentibus impudice abusi sunt,They have sexually abused the adolescents,et pueri in ligno corruerunt.and the children were corrupted in the wood.

Senes defecerunt de portis,The elders have ceased from the gates, juvenes de choro psallentium.the youths from the choir of the psalms.

Defecit gaudium cordis nostri; The gladness of our heart has failed, versus est in luctum chorus noster.our singing has been turned into mourning.

Cecidit corona capitis nostri:The crown has fallen from our head.væ nobis,Woe to us,quia peccavimus!for we have sinned.

Propterea mœstum factum est cor nostrum;Because of this, our heart became gloomy;ideo contenebrati sunt oculi nostri, for this reason, our eyes have been darkened:

propter montem Sion quia disperiit;because of mount Zion, because it was ruined.vulpes ambulaverunt in eo.Foxes have wandered upon it.

Tu autem,But you,Domine,O Lord,in æternum permanebis, shall remain for eternity, solium tuum in generationem et generationem.your throne from generation to generation.

Quare in perpetuum oblivisceris nostri,Why would you forget us forever?derelinques nos in longitudine dierum? Why would you forsake us for a long time?

Converte nos,Convert us,Domine,O Lord,ad te,to you,et convertemur;and we shall be converted.innova dies nostros,Renew our days,sicut a principio.as from the beginning.

Sed projiciens repulisti nos:But you have utterly rejected us;iratus es contra nos vehementer.you are vehemently angry against us.
