Et cum transisset sabbatum,And when the Sabbath had passed,Maria Magdalene, et Maria Jacobi,Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James,et Salome emerunt aromata ut venientes ungerent Jesum.and Salome bought aromatic spices, so that when they arrived they could anoint Jesus.

Et valde mane una sabbatorum,And very early in the morning, on the first of the Sabbaths, veniunt ad monumentum, they went to the tomb, orto jam sole.the sun having now risen.

Et dicebant ad invicem:And they said to one another,Quis revolvet nobis lapidem ab ostio monumenti?“Who will roll back the stone for us, away from the entrance of the tomb?”

Et respicientes viderunt revolutum lapidem. And looking, they saw that the stone was rolled back.Erat quippe magnus valde. For certainly it was very large.

Et introëuntes in monumentum viderunt juvenem sedentem in dextris,And upon entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, coopertum stola candida, covered with a white robe,et obstupuerunt.and they were astonished.

Qui dicit illis:And he said to them,Nolite expavescere:“Do not become frightened.Jesum quæritis Nazarenum,You are seeking Jesus of Nazareth, crucifixum:the Crucified One.surrexit,He has risen.non est hic,He is not here.ecce locus ubi posuerunt eum.Behold, the place where they laid him.

Sed ite,But go,dicite discipulis ejus, et Petro, quia præcedit vos in Galilæam:tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you into Galilee.ibi eum videbitis,There you shall see him, sicut dixit vobis.just as he told you.”

At illæ exeuntes,But they, fugerunt de monumento:going out, invaserat enim eas tremorfled from the tomb.et pavor:For trembling and fear had overwhelmed them.et nemini quidquam dixerunt:And they said nothing to anyone.timebant enim. For they were afraid.

Surgens autem mane prima sabbati,But he, rising early on the first Sabbath, apparuit primo Mariæ Magdalene, appeared first to Mary Magdalene,de qua ejecerat septem dæmonia.from whom he had cast out seven demons.

Illa vadens nuntiavit his, qui cum eo fuerant,She went and announced it to those who had been with him, lugentibus et flentibus.while they were mourning and weeping.

Et illi audientes quia viveret,And they,et visus esset ab ea,upon hearing that he was alive and that he had been seen by her,non crediderunt.did not believe it.

Post hæc autem duobus ex his ambulantibus ostensus est in alia effigie,But after these events, he was shown in another likeness to two of them walking, euntibus in villam:as they were going out to the countryside.

et illi euntes nuntiaverunt ceteris:And they, returning, reported it to the others;nec illis crediderunt.neither did they believe them.

Novissime recumbentibus illis undecim apparuit:Finally,et exprobravit incredulitatem eorum et duritiam cordis:he appeared to the eleven, quia iis,as they sat at table.qui viderant eum resurrexisse,And he rebuked them for their incredulity and hardness of heart, non crediderunt.because they did not believe those who had seen that he had risen again.

Et dixit eis:And he said to them:Euntes in mundum universum prædicate Evangelium omni creaturæ.“Go forth to the whole world and preach the Gospel to every creature.

Qui crediderit, et baptizatus fuerit, salvus erit:Whoever will have believed and been baptized will be saved.qui vero non crediderit, condemnabitur.Yet truly, whoever will not have believed will be condemned.

Signa autem eos qui crediderint,Now these signs will accompany those who believe.hæc sequentur:In my name,in nomine meo dæmonia ejicient:they shall cast out demons.linguis loquentur novis:They will speak in new languages.

serpentes tollent:They will take up serpents,et si mortiferum quid biberint, and, if they drink anything deadly, non eis nocebit:it will not harm them.super ægros manus imponent,They shall lay their hands upon the sick,et bene habebunt.and they will be well.”

Et Dominus quidem Jesus postquam locutus est eis,And indeed, the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, assumptus est in cælum, was taken up into heaven,et sedet a dextris Dei.and he sits at the right hand of God.

Illi autem profecti prædicaverunt ubique,Then they,Domino cooperante, setting out,et sermonem confirmante, preached everywhere, sequentibus signis.with the Lord cooperating and confirming the word by the accompanying signs.
