Et egressus Jesus de templo,And Jesus departed from the templeibat.and went away.Et accesserunt discipuli ejus,And his disciples approached him,ut ostenderent ei ædificationes templi.so as to show him the buildings of the temple.

Ipse autem respondens dixit illis:But he said to them in response:Videtis hæc omnia?“Do you see all these things?amen dico vobis,Amen I say to you,non relinquetur hic lapis super lapidem, there shall not remain here stone upon stone, qui non destruatur.which is not torn down.”

Sedente autem eo super montem Oliveti,Then, accesserunt ad eum discipuli secreto, when he was seated at the Mount of Olives, dicentes:the disciples drew near to him privately,Dic nobis, saying:quando hæc erunt?“Tell us,et quod signum adventus tui, when will these things be?et consummationis sæculi? And what will be the sign of your advent and of the consummation of the age?”

Et respondens Jesus,And answering, Jesus said to them:dixit eis:“Pay attention,Videte ne quis vos seducat:lest someone lead you astray.

multi enim venient in nomine meo, dicentes:For many will come in my name saying,Ego sum Christus:‘I am the Christ.’et multos seducent. And they will lead many astray.

Audituri enim estis prælia,For you will hear of battleset opiniones præliorum.and rumors of battles.Videte ne turbemini:Take care not to be disturbed.oportet enim hæc fieri,For these things must be,sed nondum est finis:but the end is not so soon.

consurget enim gens in gentem,For nation will rise against nation,et regnum in regnum, and kingdom against kingdom.et erunt pestilentiæ,And there will be pestilences,et fames, and famines,et terræmotus per loca:and earthquakes in places.

hæc autem omnia initia sunt dolorum. But all these things are just the beginning of the sorrows.

Tunc tradent vos in tribulationem,Then they will hand you over to tribulation,et occident vos:and they will kill you.et eritis odio omnibus gentibus propter nomen meum. And you will be hated by all nations for the sake of my name.

Et tunc scandalizabuntur multi,And then many will be led into sin,et invicem tradent, and will betray one another,et odio habebunt invicem.and will have hatred for one another.

Et multi pseudoprophetæ surgent,And many false prophets will arise,et seducent multos.and they will lead many astray.

Et quoniam abundavit iniquitas,And because iniquity has abounded, refrigescet caritas multorum:the charity of many will grow cold.

qui autem perseveraverit usque in finem,But whoever will have persevered until the end,hic salvus erit.the same shall be saved.

Et prædicabitur hoc Evangelium regni in universo orbe,And this Gospel of the kingdom shall be preached throughout the entire world,in testimonium omnibus gentibus:as a testimony to all nations.et tunc veniet consummatio. And then the consummation will occur.

Cum ergo videritis abominationem desolationis,Therefore,quæ dicta est a Daniele propheta, when you will have seen the abomination of desolation, stantem in loco sancto, which was spoken of by the prophet Daniel, qui legit, standing in the holy place, intelligat:may he who reads understand,

tunc qui in Judæa sunt, then those who are in Judea, fugiant ad montes:let them flee to the mountains.

et qui in tecto,And whoever is on the roof, non descendat tollere aliquid de domo sua:let him not descend to take anything from his house.

et qui in agro,And whoever is in the field, non revertatur tollere tunicam suam.let him not turn back to take his tunic.

Væ autem prægnantibusSo then,et nutrientibus in illis diebus!woe to those who are pregnant or nursing in those days.

Orate autem ut non fiat fuga vestra in hieme,But pray that your flight may not be in winter, vel sabbato:or on the Sabbath.

erit enim tunc tribulatio magna,For then there will be a great tribulation, qualis non fuit ab initio mundi usque modo, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until the present, neque fiet.and such as will not be.

Et nisi breviati fuissent dies illi,And unless those days had been shortened, non fieret salva omnis caro:no flesh would be saved.sed propter electos breviabuntur dies illi. But for the sake of the elect, those days shall be shortened.

Tunc si quis vobis dixerit:Then if anyone will have said to you,Ecce hic est Christus,‘Behold, here is the Christ,’aut illic:or ‘he is there,’nolite credere.do not be willing to believe it.

Surgent enim pseudochristi,For there will arise false Christset pseudoprophetæ:and false prophets.et dabunt signa magna,And they will produce great signset prodigia, and wonders, ita ut in errorem inducantur (si fieri potest) etiam electi.so much so as to lead into error even the elect (if this could be).

Ecce prædixi vobis.Behold, I have warned you beforehand.

Si ergo dixerint vobis:Therefore, if they will have said to you,Ecce in deserto est,‘Behold, he is in the desert,’nolite exire;do not choose to go out,Ecce in penetralibus,or, ‘Behold, he is in the inner rooms,’nolite credere.do not be willing to believe it.

Sicut enim fulgur exit ab oriente,For just as lightning goes out from the east,et paret usque in occidentem:and appears even in the west, ita erit et adventus Filii hominis.so shall it be also at the advent of the Son of man.

Ubicumque fuerit corpus,Wherever the body shall be,illic congregabuntur et aquilæ.there also will the eagles be gathered together.

Statim autem post tribulationem dierum illorum sol obscurabitur,And immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened,et luna non dabit lumen suum, and the moon will not give its light,et stellæ cadent de cælo,and the stars will fall from heaven,et virtutes cælorum commovebuntur:and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

et tunc parebit signum Filii hominis in cælo:And then the sign of the Son of man shall appear in heaven.et tunc plangent omnes tribus terræ:And then all tribes of the earth shall mourn.et videbunt Filium hominis venientem in nubibus cæli cum virtute multaAnd they shall see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven,et majestate.with great power and majesty.

Et mittet angelos suos cum tuba,And he shall send out his Angels with a trumpet and a great voice.et voce magna:And they shall gather together his elect from the four winds,et congregabunt electos ejus a quatuor ventis, from the heights of the heavens,a summis cælorum usque ad terminos eorum.even to their furthest limits.

Ab arbore autem fici discite parabolam:So,cum jam ramus ejus tener fuerit, from the fig tree learn a parable.et folia nata,When its branch has now become tender and the leaves have sprung forth, scitis quia prope est æstas:you know that summer is near.

itaSo also,et vos cum videritis hæc omnia, when you will have seen all these things, scitote quia prope est, know that it is near,in januis.even at the threshold.

Amen dico vobis,Amen I say to you, quia non præteribit generatio hæc,that this lineage shall not pass away, donec omnia hæc fiant.until all these things have been done.

Cælum et terra transibunt,Heaven and earth shall pass away, verba autem mea non præteribunt.but my words shall not pass away.

De die autem illaBut concerning that day and hour,et hora nemo scit,no one knows, neque angeli cælorum, not even the Angels of the heavens, nisi solus Pater.but only the Father.

Sicut autem in diebus Noë,And just as in the days of Noah, ita erit et adventus Filii hominis:so also will be the advent of the Son of man.

sicut enim erant in diebus ante diluvium comedentes et bibentes,For it will be just as it was in the days before the flood:nubentes et nuptum tradentes, eating and drinking, usque ad eum diem, marrying and being given in marriage, quo intravit Noë in arcam, even until that day when Noah entered into the ark.

et non cognoverunt donec venit diluvium,And they did not realize it,et tulit omnes:until the flood came and took them all away.ita erit et adventus Filii hominis. So also will the advent of the Son of man be.

Tunc duo erunt in agro:Then two men will be in a field:unus assumetur, one will be taken up,et unus relinquetur.and one will be left behind.

Duæ molentes in mola:Two women will be grinding at a millstone:una assumetur, one will be taken up,et una relinquetur.and one will be left behind.

Vigilate ergo,Therefore, be vigilant.quia nescitis qua hora Dominus vester venturus sit.For you do not know at what hour your Lord will return.

Illud autem scitote,But know this:quoniam si sciret paterfamilias qua hora fur venturus esset,if only the father of the family knew at what hour the thief would arrive, vigilaret utique,he would certainly keep vigilet non sineret perfodi domum suam.and not permit his house to be broken into.

IdeoFor this reason,et vos estote parati:you also must be prepared, quia qua nescitis hora Filius hominis venturus est.for you do not know at what hour the Son of man will return.

Quis,Consider this:putas, who is a faithfulest fidelis servus, and prudent servant,et prudens, who has been appointed by his lord over his family, quem constituit dominus suus super familiam suam ut det illis cibum in tempore?to give them their portion in due time?

Beatus ille servus,Blessed is that servant, quem cum venerit dominus ejus,if, when his lord has arrived, invenerit sic facientem.he shall find him doing so.

Amen dico vobis,Amen I say to you, quoniam super omnia bona sua constituet eum.he shall appoint him over all of his goods.

Si autem dixerit malus servus ille in corde suo:But if that evil servant has said in his heart,Moram fecit dominus meus venire:‘My lord has been delayed in returning,’

et cœperit percutere conservos suos, and so,manducet autemhe begins to strike his fellow servants,et bibat cum ebriosis:and he eats and drinks with the inebriated:

veniet dominus servi illius in die qua non sperat, then the lord of that servant will arrive on a day that he does not expect,et hora qua ignorat:and at an hour that he does not know.

et dividet eum,And he shall separate him, partemque ejus ponet cum hypocritis:and he shall place his portion with the hypocrites, illic erit fletus et stridor dentium.where there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
